Came with a group of friends and was made to feel very welcome. The food as always was perfect as was the service. Divine cocktails really made our night.

Fantastic service from the whole team. Great food with a good choice. Definitely recommend this place if you have a special occasion planned.
Well what can I say, from entering the restaurant to leaving we could not have had a better experience. Restaurant was well laid out with plenty of room. Food was fabulous and well presented. All waiters and waitresses were a credit to the restaurant, great...service, with a smile and a joke or two along the way. A lovely experience to celebrate my 60th birthday. Have wanted to try this restaurant for a long time, was not disappointed and will definitely return.More
We made a reservation for Friday 3rd November 2023 for my Brother in law’s birthday and we made the reservation back in July, we were lucky enough on the night of our reservation to benefit from a fantastic firework display and also a live singer...who was superb. The food, atmosphere and service as always was outstanding, I would like to say a personal thank you to Ajay and the Team for such a Fantastic evening.More
Another splendid night at Alec's! Amazing food and wine, fantastic singer and a marvellous firework display for the diners. This restaurant always excels but this great firework evening counts as one of the best! Sincere thanks to Ajay, Alex and the team for a superb...evening on every level.More
Impecable service at our lunch on Thursday . One of us ordered from the a la carte menu and the other from the set lunch menu, both meals were perfect . Highly recomend.
Had such a lovely night at Alec’s. We were greeted by a really friendly host at the door and were made to feel welcome straight away. Food was excellent, special mentions to the sticky beef and prawns and monkfish in béarnaise sauce. Desserts were delicious...and beautifully presented. Lovely decor and atmosphere. Great service also by the waitress with red hair! Cant wait to come back!More
So, this is my very favourite restaurant in Essex. We dine here quite a bit. The staff are wonderful but the food is another level. Seafood 🦞 at its very best. VJ the owner, what a guy. Makes you feel like you are his only...customer. I've taken a group of 30 there (had the whole conservatory) and also just my wife and I. They never fail to impress. If you haven't been go. The sommelier is wonderful. Danbury Chardonnay! Who would have thought. Rob JuppMore
It was almost as if the whole ethos had changed! We were welcomed appropriately, we arrived very early for our booking. Utilised the spotless well-appointed toilets, up a spiral staircase, but there is a disabled toilet on the ground floor. Extensive varied menu. I started...with an exceptional squid dish beautifully cooked with delicious dressing. Also served with Chorizo "bites" amazingly flavoured with perfectly cooked bread. Main was a very generous roast beef sirloin Sunday lunch. Perfectly cooked beef plus all expected trimmings with well cooked Yorkshire stunningly presented plate. Owner gave us some extra potatoes and some amazing short rib as extras. Staff are brilliantly choreographed to the highest but non fussy michelin standard. Desserts were beyond description I returned to my stunning pavlova, but owner bought us an extra Royal Banoffee profiterole which gave me a huge challenge, the starter and main were very filling then to be presented with three perfect desserts left us devastated that we couldn't finish them!! So so much better than my last visit. Owner had expressed significant concern as to the detail of my last visit. This visit was frankly as good as any restaurant visit gets. Owner has a real passion and it shows in all aspects of the experience. So worth visiting, but **make sure you book**.More
Excellent food in an amazing countryside setting (including catering for helicopter-landing guests!) and a delightful front of house service by Scott and Nadine!
Its always fairly consistent with a good choice of seafood dishes. Fine service and busy atmosphere. Top spot for people watching too !
Went around Christmas time with family. Pretty decor and nice food although costly. Would go back at a different time of year.
Scott and Andre and the rest of the team made our 10 year anniversary meal a evening to remember. Food was delicious and and the service was some of the best we have recieved. We will be back to Alec's in the future.
Thoroughly enjoyed our evening - food, atmosphere and service outstanding. Will definitely be making a regular visit to this beautiful place. All the staff were great but special mention to Zoe who primarily looked after us. Highly recommend this place.
We ate as a couple and had a seafood starter and a main. The squid in particular was poorly cooked and presented. From early the next day we both had severe vomiting and were both very poorly for 24 hours. The restaurant phoned following our...complaint and said the would look into this and get back to us. We never heard back. We eliminated a stomach bug, as all other family in the household were fine as they didn’t attend the restaurant. Reported to local authority.More
