Lovely Sunday roast at The Bull. Massive portions and easily catered for me as a coeliac. Friendly staff too.

Lovely comfortable pub but the food wasn’t that great this time I asked for well done roast potatoes and they couldn’t of picked the less well done potatoes, such a shame as it was amazing the time before On the way out I looked at...someone else’s roast and it looked amazing so it was not my lucky day My reviews are honest and of my own personal experience nicolesherishea@yahoo.co.ukMore
Lovely atmosphere with great food. Busy but well staffed. Will definitely return again with friends and family.
Excellent food. Great service especially for an exiled Yorkshireman from Halifax!! Good menu although sad calf's liver no longer on menu for our friend.
Visited with a large group of colleagues and was very impressed with the quality of the food, venue and staff. Stacey and Cosmin were our waiters and were both excellent all night !
Another wonderful visit to The Bull with my friend. Slight mix up with our booking which lovely Stacey rectified. Stacey then arranged for us to sit at the requested table in the bar area too. Stacey looked after us, nothing was too much trouble. The...food was so delicious we both had the steak pie with new potatoes, fresh vegetables, a side order of cauliflower cheese with extra jug of gravy, yum! It was filling we couldn’t eat another thing! We both love this wonderful pub & the reason why we come back time & time again. Thank you Stacey & team xMore
I visited The Bull pub and I cannot believe how good it was. The food was cooked to the highest standard, the staff were superb, fast and friendly, especially the waitress Amanda was the top star. Everything was served on time, without any delay . Definitely...coming back again as it’s my No1 pub in Brentwood from now on.More
A wonderful Sunday roast! I normally take pictures of food but think I was over whelmed and very hungry and a clean plate was left! Cosmin was very attentive but an extra special mention to Amanda who went the extra mile! Having misheard my husband...ordering a pint of Moretti for a cup of tea; she followed it through at the end of the meal presenting him with a cup of tea for his 60th. Thank you for the special gift it really was attention to detail at its very best! Delicious food! Will be back! From a mix up at the bar taking an orderMore
I cannot fault this place , the food was amazing and there is definitely plenty of it. I think it’s hard to find a good ‘pub’ roast dinner , but this was spot on ! The staff were also all very helpful and friendly and...no long waits for anything . I will definitely be going back.More
Met a friend at this midway point and came to this pub. Staff very friendly, free parking and best of all dog friendly. We sat inside but on walking out saw the outside seating area which looked lovely. Had a lovely time here.
We ordered one steak pie and one goats cheese and beetroot salad. Both were enjoyed and couldn't be faulted. We followed these with an Eton Mess and a simple three scoop icecream dessert. My preference would have been salted caramel icecream but this was not...available so I chose the vanilla and chocolate. The bill for two G&T's, a bottle of wine and the two courses mentioned above was £88 which we considered fair for the excellent food and service we received. We would not hesitate to return when next in the area.More
Had a lovely meal here with family and friends recently. Large menu with lots of vegetarian options, we took a long while to eat our lunch and never felt rushed by the staff, good service and nice interior. Would visit again.
Had business in the area quite often, discovered The Bull only after months of being in the area, managed to go there twice. Last time was on Feb 28, I think. Wasn't 100% sure if I'd give full 5 stars, as I had to weigh...value vs. money. Pricing is somewhat steep, even for post-Corona Brentwood area. BUT: I decided you do get a lot of value. Beautiful, comfy pub in an old house with someone as owner who does love old materials: Inside setup and decoration is so heartwarming! Was surprised by the very, very friendly welcome and the strong guest centred attitude. It is :"What can I do to make you happy" all along. "Amanda" is one of the names I remember. And another waitress who seemed to be the daughter of the innkeeper, whose name eludes me. Sorry. Both extraordinarily friendly and helpful. I would say: You feel like family, only that in my family, nobody is only half as friendly and lovely and helpful. Beer: Their standard ale from the tap is a London brand, one of the better amber pale ales. They do have changing specials every now and then. Flying Scotsman was one to be remembered. I admit that I was somewhat disappointed that there was no wide choice of tapped ales, even if the one I got was very good. I will never drink Heineken or Birra Moretti, really. Food: Now here's something to write home about. The Bull has classics, they have sourdough Pizza which my neighbor says is outrageously good and then they have dishes that have a distinct Greek touch. Obviously because Mediterranean is very popular. Never tried any of the latter, I'm game for all the classics. Once I had the steak and Guinness short crust pie, served with real home made mashed potatoes and veggies. HOME MADE MASH! Where do you get that in GB, still? Pie was lovely with a tasty, buttery, crunchy thick crust and soft and tender meat in that dark, rich Guinness gravy, one of the best pies I've ever had. Plus that mash with real fresh potatoes. One of the #1 standards made so enjoyable. And I have to mention something else: Their food is surprisingly low in salt for GB standards. That was a very pleasant surprise. Elsewhere, you always get this stingy, extremely salty food which doesn't allow for any other taste than salty and that dries you out, not so here. Smooth and just right, rich in flavours, playing with texture, wow. OK, taking this into account, 20 quid might not sound that steep, any more. Next time I was hungry. And I did go for the pork belly. My expectations were high. And I still was surprised, far beyond anything I had imagined. Low and slow cooked pork, rich in flavour and soooo tender! Literally melts in your mouth. And then the crust which surprised me even more: Very thin layer of slightly foamy looking caramel coloured crispy, so crispy crust, crackling under your teeth, and underneath this thin layer only soft-soft-soft. Never experienced anything anywhere close. Even the Danish who are experts for pork crust, never produced anything of this kind. This one set a new standard. Texture somewhat like a real creme brulee. And these flavours! The gravy was made from cider and just came to show: Pork and apple are a great match! I was in heaven. Plus a creamy mash that was made with cream (am I right?) and those kale leaves which I hadn't had in ages (my wife hates kale). Big portion. Still, the waitress managed to coax me into afters. Toffee pudding was out, unfortunately. So I went for the apple crumble. A crumble to write home about. Caramel and vanilla and crunchy crumbles and textures and flavours... I'll stop here. I did NOT regret fighting with a strained tummy for the rest of the night. Worth every single bit of it. Unfortunately, I am typically in the area around winter. So I never got to see the garden. In essence: Yes, it is worth the money. Heavenly place. And next time I will come back. If only once because I can't afford more.More
