Brilliant food DO NOT use Just Eat

This was a takeaway. The food is delicious and the amount is impressive. There are good vegetarian options so suitable for all in the family. Just one thing to note it is best to order directly from the restaurant DO NOT order through Just Eat as the food didn’t arrive and they are difficult to contact I paid for the undelivered takeaway and then the food from the restaurant and haven’t had any confirmation from Just Eat that I will get a refund I could have had an excellent meal in central London for £100, but hopefully I will eventually get my refund! I repeat use Just Eat at your own risk and I would not advise, despite having done so many times. If they were easier to contact I’d say risk it but it is quite hopeless when you haven’t got your food and cannot contact the company.

Visited here last weekend for the 1st time. Nice table by the window, food very nice chilli sauce exceptional had a great kick. I had salmon, very large portion size and tasted great. All in all a very nice meal! Reason for not 5 star - 1st impressions not great when there are letters missing from the front signage. Wasn’t asked to taste the wine it was just poured straight away! The waiters never refilled my wine glass, when we are paying service charge we do expect the service.

Great all-round experience!

Fantastic experience. Food was delicious and you could tell a lot of care went into it! The Sucuk (starter) and Guvec (main) - which is essentially a Turkish chicken casserole - I would definitely recommend. These were well priced considering the quality and generous portion sizes. We went as a party of 11 with varying ages and the staff did very well to accommodate for us so well. The interior and décor of the place is very pleasing on the eye and definitely adds to the experience!

Could of been a lot better.

Mixed reviews really the actual restaurant was nice however when we ordered our son's meal it arrived after we nearly had eaten ours! The meals were not that hot either. We were a family of six & the restaurant wasn't that busy so you cant blame it on that. Service was ok but could of been more welcoming. We wasn't that impressed at all so we said we will not return!!

Disappointing

So disappointed with my visit today. Went under recommendations online and I left feeling gutted after shelling out nearly £100 for lunch. The mixed shish was described as a skewer of each meat, when it came over I had 4 tiny cubes of meat. It wasn’t even half of a skewer let alone two! When I saw how tiny the portions were (after seeing some reviews that portions are big) I decided I best order a portion of chips between the 4 of us (myself and my 12 year and two 15 year olds) It came over and was the smallest little portion of fries £3.00. I appreciate the cost of living has gone up but it’s not right to overcharge for such tiny portions. We paid a service charge of £8.99 even though the service wasn’t very good, waiter wasn’t friendly at all. It was only us and another table there for lunch so it wasn’t busy enough for them to not make the effort. Didn’t feel welcome. I’m gutted that I splashed out for my sons birthday and left feeling deflated that I’d wasted money I didn’t have but wanted him to enjoy his birthday so saved up for this occasion. See photos below baring in my this was my daughters plate who actually had the biggest pieces of meat out of all of us, and still tiny as you can see. I will not be returning.

Staff very rude and doesn’t know how to respect at all.

My wife placed the order from The Blaze restaurant and before she placed the order she asked does chicken Beyti comes with bread and sauce or not. Someone from restaurant said it does and we placed the order.after placed the order someone called and said it t doesn’t come sauce and bread but when I said before we placed the order we asked and someone said it does come so why you saying it doesn’t then he said we said as a example however this time we will give but next time be careful. We appreciate although the way he said like he giving us free. After we got the good we didn’t get any sauce with bread at all also with chicken wings. When I called the staff was so rude and the way talked like he gave me free and said I told u it doesn’t come and you should appreciate we gave u bread and my wife said we appreciate but he said now eat it so rudely when I said why u first told us u will give everything now you showing ur attitude doesn’t know how to speak with customers? He called me idiot and used F words n hanged the call. I tried call back but didn’t pick up the call. My whole point is it’s just sauce and bread if it doesn’t come tell truth no need to lie and show attitude and talk rudely with customers just for bloody sauce and bread. Very disappointed didn’t expect that type of behaviour at all. Next time we won’t order from there or go for dinning too.

Has a table booked for prime time on a weekend night. Walked in bang on time, packed downstairs. Two guys in front haven’t booked, got asked to go to the bar to wait for a table (normal you’d think), I then say I have a table booked for 4 people for this time and get lead upstairs where there are lots of empty tables and they were empty all night. To be honest I didn’t mind this as it was quieter however had far less atmosphere and I feel the service may have been affected by this (hence the score). So the service…. To be honest, I’d give it a 0/5…..0.5/5 at a push. Got in there at 8pm, finally, after getting up twice to ask, the guy doing the upstairs came over took our order at 8.50. He was fairly apologetic but actually it came over that he was doing us a favour by serving us at all as he was so busy. Starters came fairly late after ordering. Asked for more wine, forgot had to chase up. Offered more bread/sauces, sometimes it came over, sometimes it didn’t. The wine came and forgot other drinks, had to chase/remind again (you can see the theme here!). The then mains came immediately after we’d finished the starters and the waiter made a reference that he’d asked for it to be sped up which was nice of him to do that (heaven forbid how long it would have taken if not!). Missed a side order off which we didn’t have the energy to get up and ask for. Needless to say when the bill came it was included as was the 10% service charge which I got immediately removed. I do wonder if we were downstairs if the service would have been better as there seemed to be more staff…… Food - 4.5/5. My starter of lamb meatballs was bone dry and stuck together and looked and tasted as if they were just warmed up in a microwave. That would get 0/5 on its own but the other people on our party said there’s was fine. However the main course was spot on, nice succulent meat, full of taste. No issues whatsoever. Credit where credits due there. There you go. Decent food but absolutely shocking service

We want to provide better service to our customers as we can, but it is not enough due to circumstances beyond our control. I hope these shortage of staff will be left behind in a short time and we will offer you the good service that is worthy of you.

Great food but room for improvements

Nice food however main dishes have way too much rice and couscous and not enough meat. I ordered the mixed kebab. It was tasty but Kofte had some small bone particles in it. Salad and olives where great. Shame you cant just order the skewers and just add a small rice to it!

The service was better than the food

I know prices have increased dramatically but I expected better than I got for £26 when I ordered a monk fish kebab. The fish did not seem that fresh - rather dry and not very tasty. The service however was impeccable - but that did not make up for the very average. food. Other local Turkish restaurants will get my custom in future

Arrived at the blaze tonight

Arrived at the blaze tonight having booked a table for two and was told yes your table is right here. Then confused when they started asking had we booked when we sat down. I noticed one of the waiters was wearing his mask half way down his neck. Seriously what is the point of every staff member wearing masks and then this guy feels it is appropriate to meander around the restaurant literally doing laps breathing over everything and everyone. In the end I couldn’t take it anymore and told him he should wear it properly. He accepted my request but this was obviously a talking point for the staff. I don’t manage this guy why did the other staff not point this out to him. I would urge the blaze to take their Covid-19 obligations seriously. The starters arrived and I had prawn cocktail. The prawns were not all removed from their shells properly as I was regularly crunching shells. The sauce was too thick and gloopy. Overall mediocre starter. The main arrived and it was over seasoned, quite salty and almost inedible. I left most of it. The waiter came over and asked was there anything wrong with it. I said it was too salty. He said I’ll get you something else. I felt unwell from the saltiness of the meal and did not want anything else. He wouldn’t really accept my comments. I’ll get you something else he said. I said no that’s ok I don’t want anything else. No no I’ll get you something on the house, he said. I don’t want it though I reiterated. I could see there was a meeting going in at the kitchen where he came back and told me I was wrong. This restaurant does not take constructive feedback well which will probably be reflected in the response to this review. I asked for the bill and he said I’ve brought you something. My wife was with me and took it I would of left it personally. But she said when she picked up the unknown dish it was stone cold. Overall very poor. Won’t be going back. Avoid this poor quality establishment.

Great service and food

It’s a Saturday night a couple of weeks before Christmas so we knew it would be busy but that did not affect our dining experience. The service was prompt and the food was just fantastic. With so many restaurants to choose from it’s hard to stand out but as Turkish restaurants go this one is very good. Well recommended.

Best Turkish in Chelmsford

We have visited this restaurant several times and have never been disappointed. Excellent service without being obtrusive, food wonderfully cooked and extremely tasty. Luckily we did not order a starter as the main meal was so large we couldnt finish it all and believe me we were very hungry on arrival. Highly recommend.

We sat down slightly early for our table of two and was planning on a casual evening. After being sat down we had our drinks order taken and ordered our starters which came within 4 minutes, which was wonderful as was only the Sucuk and Halloumi. This tasted lovely and then some bread and dips was brought out and was amazing. Whilst we were eating our starters however the waiter asked for our mains, which we said we wasn’t ready yet and hadn’t decided. To which he replied you need to order now before our kitchen gets busy. I wouldn’t mind this if we were a walk in, however we had pre booked and normally you get 1 hour and a half minimum in most restaurants. This then put us under pressure and made us order immediately. The food come pretty shortly and was good. We were out of the restaurant in 45 minutes consequently. It seemed as if unfortunately they wanted to get us out as quick as possible, and even though we had pre booked and planned on a nice chilled evening as a couple it couldn’t have been more different. If I had a choice between here and the other restaurants in Chelmsford and Boreham this would be last on my list. Food is good, but service isn’t great. Whereas the other two listed are amazing for both!!

I am glad that you are satisfied with the meals.I am also sorry that you aren't satisfied with the service, but I will try to explain to you why this is so. The first 3 days of the week are very busy, we get a very high rate of reservations due to the government scheme, as we can, we want more customers to benefit from this scheme. Under normal conditions, we do not take such a hasty attitude. Believe me, we reject as much as the reservation amount we receive. I ask you to make this mistake reasonable for this time. Lockdown takeaway was just as good as eating in. Haloumi, rice, kebabs, salads and bread delivered in 30 mins, all cooked perfectly and plenty of everything (with salad, sauces and rice /couscous included with the main). Best Turkish in town. Approx £45 for two (but would’ve been enough for 3 people)

Lovely food - (takeaway)

Came in for a takeaway and ordered 2 Chicken Shish, was offered a drink while I waited (thank you). Got home to a lovely meal, very tasty generous portion of chicken with two different rices and a side salad with plenty of bread with a chilli and a tzatziki sauce. Can’t wait to go back and sit in and experience what else this restaurant has to offer.
