Was really excited to visit this place as friends had said good things. The walks available in the area and the view from the cafe were enjoyable. The tea/coffee out of a machine and the service were not great however. It has loads of potential to be a nice cafe but sadly fell short of the mark for us. Will... More

I absolutely love this place. Everyone is so friendly and the food tastes so fresh. The scones are to die for and there is a beautiful walk to burn of the calories!!

Great place to watch the pleasure boats and barges come into or out of the lock. In the spring and summer you can take a barge up and down the canal and its a good place for people watching from the seats of the tea rooms alongside. Fishing and boating license can be obtained and the canal in the summer... More

Nice stop on Saturday stroll with family. Try coconut-cherry cake or caramel shortbread. Reasonable prices.

Really lovely days spent here in the summer, love the ploughman's lunch but the prices could do with a change. The views are nice , I like how I can walk the dog there. It does get busy , staff always friendly, either more is needed for your money , or making it a bit more affordable for families.

Many reviews appear to be for the Old Stable Tea Rooms (which are reviewed elsewhere), but this lock house and its associated walks are worthy of their own mention. It is a lovely walk with the river on one side, and fields or trees on the other. It is open all year round, but it gets muddy in the winter.... More

We went for a walk along the River which was the perfect precursor to sitting down and having a nice slice of cake and a coffee. It's no frills but comfortable and the service was with a smile. You definitely need a good weather though but the prices were very reasonable too

Haven't been here for years and pleased we made the trip, on maybe the last warm sunny day of the year! The tea room offers sandwiches, ploughman's and a good selection of cakes. Tip: get here early for the best choice in cakes! There's plenty of seating outside and about 6 tables inside. So if the weather is not the... More

What an unexpected and lovely relaxing afternoon spent here. Recommended by a friend and I'll most certainly recommend it myself. A little bit of heaven.
