When we asked them to call us a taxi, it turned out the landlord was a friend of the owner of the place we were staying at and insisted on dropping us back... More

We had a 70th birthday lunch here , all of our family, and there was 20 of us all said what a lovely meal they served. The staff were very nice and nothing was too much trouble for them. The food was excellent, well cooked and well presented. I would definitely recommend this pub.

I visit my 88 year old mum every week I come from Kent. We have eaten in every restaurant in the village and the wheatsheaf is the best . Mum has a small gammon egg and chips. Ask for peas with her meal. At no extra cost. The landlady and staff are very welcoming and friendly . So please ask... More

Stopped here on the way back from Chelmsford. We were told that there was a table free and seated immediately. Both of us ordered the gammon and chips. Expecting either some veg or salad with it. NO!!!? The food looked lost on the plate. We asked for ketchup and the only bottle in the restaurant was put on the table.... More

I am sorry that you were not happy eating with us. If your meal was gammon steak and chips this is a hand cut 10oz gammon steak and comes with 2 eggs or pineapple. If you chose the small meal available that would be half of the 10oz gammon steak and 1 egg or pineapple. If you required salad or... More

Went for Sunday lunch today with my family and was so impressed with the quality of the food and service in this smalllish, local pub. We all had the Sunday roast, the meat was excellent and the veg and Yorkshire pudding all beautifully, freshly cooked. The desserts were also delicious. This was a pleasant surprise as many pubs and restaurants... More

Dear Pat we are so glad that you enjoyed your Sunday lunch with us. As you discovered our Sunday roast is all cooked fresh and the meats are from Smiths butchers in Boreham. We like to think our roast is how we all cook a roast at home. we look forward to seeing you all again soon More

Excellent food and friendly staff. We eat here often and the food is always good. Able to accommodate gluten free diets. Advisable to book particularly at weekends.

Thank you for your kind comments. As our food is cooked fresh we can always cook something tasty for people who need gluten free food and is never a problem as gluten allergy is becoming more common. More

This is one of the best places to eat in the area. The food is always excellent and the staff always make us feel welcome and especially look after the children. Always a decent range of drinks that are kept very well indeed.
