Today three friends and I went to The Gold Coast to celebrate my birthday. What a delightful evening we had. After a friendly greeting we were seated at our table and given menus. There is a choice of a La Carte or the set price choice where you pick 5 starters and five mains with the option of ordering a middle course of crispy duck pancakes. We chose well and had a good selection of really delicious dishes. There was plenty for everyone and it was enjoyed by us all. The service was friendly and efficient. We all had a good chat and laugh together. My evening was crowned with a large complimentary ice cream topped with candles and a rendition of Happy Birthday. All in all it was a great evening and a very nice way to celebrate my birthday. Thank you Gold Coast for making it special we will be back.

We have walked past this restaurant numerous times as we always stay just up the road when visiting Southend.
It generally always appears busy when we visit at weekends but for no apparent reason we have never eaten here up to now.
We were treated to a really good Chinese meal,all be it small ( we had been out to lunch and were not planning an evening meal) .The starter dishes ,crispy duck and wine that we had was all first class and extremely tasteful.
On our next visit to southend we will plan to have a full dining experience.
( The price mark is high but on this occasion I think it can be justified because it
feels like a five star restaurant offering quality food ).

Our visit to the Chinese restaurant Gold Coast was a very positive experience. From the moment we entered, we were welcomed with friendly and attentive service that ensures that we felt welcome and comfortable.
The food ⁇ lived up to our expectations. We chose to try 5 appetizers and 5 main dishes, and it was impressive how much variety and taste was served for us. We really felt that we got value for money. The price of about £25 per person was very reasonable in relation to the quantity and quality of the food.
However, one thing we noticed was the large portions. There was plenty of food, actually so much that it almost became too much.
All in all, Gold Coast was a great place for a good Chinese dinner, and we left with both saturated stomachs and smiles on our lips. We will definitely consider coming back!

New restaurants come & go BUT to work an amazing experience for years & years is the hard bit , let alone to impress someone that is in the entertainment industry is a mountain to climb .
Gold Coast is a Chinese experience that ticks all the boxes , How many times do you go to a Chinese & eat the same dishes time after time , what a fantastic sigh of relief when the menu is explained to you even specially cooked dishes without certain ingredients like chilli if you don’t like chilli etc .
This is one restaurant that is personal but not overpowering , even asked if we wanted a break between courses
They also have a unique menu for under £28 that defies even the biggest of eaters
If I could offer 6/7/8/9/10 stars I’d do so without blinking

Went as a family group midweek, but grateful to have pre-booked as by 7pm the restaurant was pretty full. The waiters were very helpful and attentive; they helped us in answering our questions, providing what was needed for a vegetarian, and one of the group who is gluten and lactose free. The menu is marked with all the 14 main allergens, though the symbols were a little difficult to read. There was plenty of choice. The deal offering 5 starters and 5 mains related to the group size was a great deal at under £25 per person (excluding drinks), as the portion sizes and quality of food were very generous.
Our favourite dishes were the Mandarin fillet steak, sweet and sour mixed vegetables, satay king prawn, fish deluxe, and deep fried squid rings.

This was our 2nd visit and took friends for their first visit. We were greeted like old friends and were able to select our table. The young man who served us was very polite and helpful. The owner came over and said hello. They have introduced a new ordering system whereby if you decide to order from the special price menu, they leave a n order slip for you to fill in. This gives you time to look at the menu and make you selection without feeling pressure from a waiter hovering. The waiter is there if you have questions. Plenty of food, beautifully presented and very tasty. Good value for money

Visited here for grandaughters 13th birthday. From the moment we arrived we were made extremely welcome. Young male waiter explained the fixed price menu options together with the a la carte menu. The fixed price was by far the best price wise so we all opted in. 6 adults and one small child, we all had a say in the choosen dishes and there was more than enough food for all of us, they packed up the remains which I took home. Food was excellent, presented beautifully, staff were amazing, attentive, helpful but not in your face. Will definitely be returning soon.

Loved every delicious mouthful at Gold Coast.
We’re visiting Southend on Sea for a few days and lusted after a proper Chinese meal. Bingo, we found the Gold Coast on Trip Advisor and booked a 7PM Friday night table.
The first challenge was to decide between the a la carte or fixed price menus.
Our young male waiter did a great job in talking us through the selections and making us feel very welcome.
Fixed price it was, and we chose a selection of 5 starters, a mid course of crispy duck and pancakes, then 5 main courses.
What an incredible spread of fresh, tasty, glossy, delicious dishes arrived at our table. Melt in the mouth honey ribs, sumptuous satay sticks, tasty triangles of prawn toast etc. All clearly made from scratch with love.
We really enjoy the tactile pleasure of assembling the crispy duck and veg pancakes. Silky hoisin sauce, crunchy cucumber, and slithers of spring onion, with masses of juicy shredded duck. Pure mouthwatering magic. And no less than 3 each… but hang on that’s not all.
Then our mains arrived… fried chicken with yellow bean sauce, sweet and sour chicken, king prawn with mandarin sauce, fillet of beef with pickled ginger and pineapple, and masses of egg fried rice.
This was the stuff of dreams! Lovely flavours and textures in every mouthful.
We both said it was the best Chinese food we’d eaten in decades. No noodle bar nonsense, but proper food made with love, fresh ingredients, balance and skill.
Our table host Josie told us her dad was the chef. She was lovely, and dad’s passion for flavour shone brightly in every dish.
We really did strike gold on the coast at Gold Coast, near Thorpe Bay.

What an absolute gem of a restaurant!
I Pre booked a table for my dad’s 70th birthday meal with family. Staff are lovely, very attentive and professional (the young waiters are a credit to this restaurant) food was delicious and was quick in coming out. Definitely be recommending to others and will be returning soon! Thank you for making my dad’s birthday one to remember!

Visited for a work meal, I’ve heard a lot about the Gold Coast Chinese and it did not disappoint at all. The 3 course set menu where you have the ability to choose your own dishes was fantastic. Food was delivered quickly all freshly cooked and full of flavour. The service was also first rate. The whole team at Gold Coast worked well to ensure we all had drinks and everything else needed. Can’t wait to go back.

Friends recommended Gold Coast for an evening meal and we selected one of the standard menu offerings.
All the food was nicely cooked and full of flavour. I tried a few dishes I normally avoid and even enjoyed these.
Overall, I thought the restaurant provides very good value for money and I would definitely return for another meal - trying even more options next time.

We decided to come here because of the good reviews of this restaurant, we were visiting Southend for a few days. It was only a small walk from our hotel. When we arrived a very polite young gentleman greeted us and sat us down. We had a choice of 2 separate menus, one seemed like good value but we decided on the a-la-carte menu in the end, we picked 5 main dishes to share. The food wait was pretty average. One of the dishes we ordered was the duck in orange sauce which I was really looking forward to however when it was bought out, it didn't look very appetising at all, it was mostly end bits and for £11.90 certainly wasn't worth what was on the plate, we ignored the presentation of the dish and thought we'd just tuck in, as soon as we started to taste a piece of the duck we found both the skin and the taste of the meat was stale, definitely not how it should be, having eaten duck for over 40 years, I know what's fresh & what's not! No one came to meal check which again I found very strange, for a restaurant as good as it says, no one came to ask if our meal was ok??
The other dishes were absolutely fine so we were just disappointed with the main dish, the duck!
About 10 minutes after we'd both finished our meal a Chinese lady came up to our table and said "have you finished"?, I pointed out to her that the duck dish was inedible and stale! She took the dish away and said she'd check with the kitchen, moments later she came back and told us the duck is "fresh from today" and started arguing with me!!! What the hell, you do not argue with the customer like that, I was absolutely disgusted by her attitude and fake smile. She said she's d take the item off the bill but when we asked for the bill, I noticed there was a sneaky amount on there which I did not recognise, I originally had 5 dishes, if you take one away, there'd be 4 to pay however on my bill, there were still 5 dishes after the duck was taken off, trying to rip me off again!!! It has spoilt what would've been a great night out at what should've been a nice place to eat. Definitely won't be returning to this place next time I visit!

We haven't been to Gold Coast in years, and now don't know why we left it so long! The menu choices are wide-ranging and our lovely server Callum explained our options.
We opted to 'Create Your Own Menu' - 2 courses for £26.50 per head. For that we could choose 5 starters and 5 mains, and as Callum warned us, the chefs are generous in their portions. So we took home a great doggy bag!
All the dishes were extremely tasty; our favourites came from the starters especially the shredded duck with pancakes and the baby squid.
Special mention for the brilliant service from all the staff who made us feel so welcome and looked after. 5 stars and we'll definitely return.

I honestly don't know where to start. AMAZING. Josie (I believe is her) and her team could not do more for our table of 13.
The service, food and atmosphere were second to none and we were made to feel so welcome and so family friendly. I myself have to eat a gluten free diet and she informed me so well if what I could and couldn't have. So much of the menu could be made gluten free and I was so happy I could have burst. Josie was so knowledgeable and told us that her team were too with their allergy training (how it should be everywhere!) My first Chinese for such a long time was an amazing experience and we are all so grateful to everyone at Gold Coast for making sure we had such a great evening.
Thank you so much again, we can't wait to visit again!

Absolutely lush! The staff were kind and thoughtful. The food was amazing. If you are in Southend and looking for somewhere to eat this is a must! We had my little 6 year old with us and they really adapted the menu for around her and made her feel special. Food was delicious.
