Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We visited the Red Lion as the base for a 3 mile walk along the Severn on Saturday. It was a gloomy wet day and we had begun to wonder why we had come. But as we entered the pub we had a warm welcome...and were shown to a nice table by a cheerful fire. By the time we had enjoyed a delicious meal we remembered why we like this place so much. It was quite the most delicious pub lunch we had had since we last came to The Red Lion in May. It was very good value too and we came away very happy and grateful to the pub’s delightful operators.More

First visit here , we both had the roast beef. Everything was so tasty. The wine was nice and hubby was impressed with the beer . We then shared a desert , pear tarte tatin with blue cheese and walnut ice cream! So nice to...have a different choice on a desert menu, rather than the bog standard sticky toffee pud !More

Attentive service, authentic pub, very good food, friendly people. What is not to like. A pub owned by the local community and therefore often busy, so book ahead for food.

Having visited a few times now, I can say it is some of the loveliest food and atmosphere I've experienced in a pub in years. Service was also fabulous. A real treat, you won't be disappointed.

We had a lovely meal here. The staff were great, the atmosphere just right, and the food was amazing. I had the ribeye steak, which was the best steak I’ve had, cooked just right. Highly recommended.

We all had the roast beef. I was perfectly pink. Beautiful home made Yorkshire puddings. The roast potatoes were fluffy on the inside and had a great crunch golden outer shell. Staff we attentive and the atmosphere was relaxed

We were looking for somewhere different, local and with good home cooked food! WOW! The Red Lion, Arlingham, ticked all the boxes. The food, ambience, drinks and parking, all great. We chose the lamb and we were not disappointed, melt in the mouth, very well...prepared, presented and the taste out of this world, for sure home made by an excellent chef! Followed by chocolate delice with marmalade ice cream, again, couldn’t fault it, it was delicious. As if the evening couldn’t get any better, they had Butty Bach on draft and a car park. Would highly recommend, we are going back for another evening meal and Sunday lunch, would advise booking as was busy for a Wed eve, the ambience was fabulous, with locals and visitors and the staff were very attentive, 10/10.More

A large group of us booked in with many young children and dog. The lady that booked us in went out of her way to ensure we had a space suitable for our group, which she didn’t have to do but made our time even...better. The staff were extremely friendly and we were well look after for our entire meal. We had starters and mains and every bit of food we ordered was excellent. Thank you for looking after so nicely.More

Went here for a family Sunday lunch and we weren't disappointed. Slow cooked lamb shoulder was sublime as was the belly pork. Even the kids chicken nuggets were freshly cooked! Puddings were also exceptional and carefully made. Would highly recommend and there's even some great...local walks too. Definitely a hidden gem of a pub...More

We came here as a couple for food on Saturday night, it was lovely and welcoming as it has been the other times we’ve visited but I have to say the lamb main course that I had was absolutely fantastic, I really hope it stays...on the menu as I will certainly be back to have it again although my husband also thoroughly enjoyed his burger.More

We returned to this pub for Sunday Lunch after reading the favourable reviews and having previously visited in 2015. The Sunday lunch was disappointing to say the least. The meal was just ‘slopped’ on the plate totally lacking in fineness and didn’t look at all...appetising. A much different experience to the one we had in 2015. Sorry to say we won’t be returning anytime soon and we only had just a main course.More

Visited while on holiday for a family dinner… ended up coming back the following night for seconds! Food was absolutely amazing, couldn’t fault a single thing. Had a variety of starters, mains and puddings which were all absolutely wonderful. Had a lovely atmosphere with friendly...staff and even a quiz.More
