Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The staff were welcoming and attentive throughout. The burgers (or ‘stacks’ as they’re referred), although on the pricier side, are amongst best in the area and well worth a try. Dogs are welcome and they have a good selection of drinks on offer. One point...to note: do check your bill before paying - we noticed an extra item on ours which we were told had been added by accident due their ordering system. The staff accepted their mistake and corrected it without issue but we got the sense it wasn’t the first time it had happened.More

Amazing lunch. All staff were so friendly. We got a lovely window seat. Fish and chips was delicious, amazing batter, fish perfectly cooked, crunchy thick chips with flakey salt and served with the best mushy peas and a fab tartare sauce. My boyfriend got the...steak and ale pie with mash and it was devoured!! It came with lotssss of gravy too which was such a bonus. Thank you!More

FANTASTIC meal. Steak cooked perfectly, peppercorn sauce was the best I've ever had. And Scott, our waiter, made everything even better.

Had lunch on Christmas Eve after reading the very good reviews. Warm welcome from the staff in this very attractive, characterful pub. Great choice of food and good drinks menu, including cocktails. Food was excellent and my bread and butter Christmas pudding was the best...dessert I’ve ever had on a pub menu. Generous portions with nothing giving the feeling that it had been heated up in a microwave. Good value for money. A most enjoyable 2 hour visit.More

Absolutely brilliant. Went with some friends, our teenagers and dogs (dog friendly in one section only). The food was fantastic - seems to be mainly sourced from a local butcher). managed to roll out of there eventually and will definitely go back

What a great little find! After a trip to GoApe we were looking to get a decent meal in before travelling back to South Wales, there were 8 of us and thought that out chances of booking were slim on a Sunday afternoon. Well The...Butchers Arms were able to accommodate us and I can say that the food was the nicest we have eaten in a good while. There was a range of meals from burgers, steak and ale pie, steak, hunters chicken and beef and chicken Sunday dinners. Everything came out at the same time and was piping hot. The food was outstanding and even the pickiest of eaters was blown away. The roast potatoes were the talk of the car on the way home. We will definitely be back!More

Probably the best steak I’ve had so far. Not a massive menu, but food was very good. Adults and children enjoyed our food.

They squeezed us in on a very busy Sunday lunchtime while still maintaining lovely service. The roast was fantastic- vegetable board looked and tasted divine. Stumbled across this place by accident but will make the effort to come back.

Fantastic evening. Visiting the local area and were specifically looking for a steak place. We weren’t disappointed. I had pre conceived ideas from looking at the menu online (ghastly red colours used - sorry I thought it was a bit tacky) but didn’t judge a...book by its cover. We were greeted with a very warm welcome. And much to my delight brown menus :) Seated in a room of the main restaurant but still enjoyed the buzz of the other diners. Started with a cocktail which was made the proper way ! (Not pre mixed rubbish) . Ordered some focaccia to nibble on whilst waiting for our mains. We both had steak (1 fillet and 1 rump) generous portions of accompaniments. Blue cheese sauce was to die for. We were absolutely stuffed !! Our waiters were attentive and friendly (makes a change these days) you can tell they really have a passion for what they do. Gave advice on the local area and things to do. Didn’t initially have room for dessert so was going to take one home but after relaxing for a while we managed to share a chocolate brownie. Would highly recommend the butchers arms. (£106 plus tip) for 1 cocktail, 1 focaccia, 2 large wines, 2 steaks with all the trimmings, 1 sauce, 1 lemonade and a dessert . Yummy and great value for money.More

We dropped in unplanned after a country walk and were delighted with a lovely lunch and good service. It was the best hunter’s chicken we have had and the El Diablo burger was as spicy as advertised which was great. The staff were friendly and...helpful. The menu was traditional pub which is what we enjoy.More

What a stunning meal we experienced for a 70th/50th family meal out. We were a large group of 11 staying locally for a Holiday celebration. Honestly the best Sunday dinner I have had in a very long time. Portion size perfect and a delicious selection...of vegetables. Highly recommend. Great service ,warm and friendly.More
