Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Quite disappointed to have to write this review as we were out to celebrate our 21st wedding anniversary with a few drinks maybe a couple starters to share and snack on! We arrived about 6.45pm, The conservatory was quite full of diners and maybe 2...or 3 tables dining inside so we sat on one of the tall tables near the bar, Ordered drinks, A pint and large house white which I think came to about 9 n a half to 10 quid, We decided to have a walk into monton for a few drinks then come back to the waterside once tea time was had near enough finished, We came back about 9.30pm, There were 1 or 2 tables still seated in the conservatory so we headed there, It looks nice, cozy and quiet only to be told we weren't allowed in there, Only the Bar area again! Bit disappointed we wanted a little more privacy, Anyway we sat at a big table for 6, Just 2 of us and we got our drinks again, Same thing, A pint and a large house white only this time it was £1 dearer than 2 hours previous? Unsure what that was about! Anyway, We're trying to chat between ourselves all the while the waiter, A young lad wearing a Blazer, The one who told us where to sit aswel, Hovered around us the whole time, We finished our drink and he swooped in as soon as the glass touched the table, whisked them off and didn't say a word!! It was 9.50pm we were planning on having more than 1 drink here until atleast 10.30pm maybe however we didn't feel welcome what so ever! We just got up at that point and went home! Kinda ruined our night to be quite honest, We were a bit confused by the complete lack of hospitality in such a nice setting that again We were refused to enjoy. Huge shame, We were really looking forward to spending some relaxing quality time together.More

Been here for lunch before. The GF options are limited but good for me. Great spot by the Bridgewater Canal with a lighthouse view.

First of all it was rememberance Sunday and they didn't ask diners to show respect at 11am with a two minute silence. Very poor breakfast. I asked for the regular breakfast with well done sausages and my partner had the large breakfast . A cappuccino...and a latte. The coffees arrived and my partner's was half full. Had to send it back as there was no milk in it. Breakfast came, my bacon was so over cooked it snapped and my sausages were insipid. My partner's had no spam as advertised and they didn't use button mushrooms as stated. I sent my back and cancelled the order and my partner only ate a small amount of his ( his bacon was also well over cooked). The young waiter was very apologetic but when we went to pay the manager didn't once ask how our food was or even mention the fact I had sent everything back. Would not recommend to friends the cooked breakfast.More

As one of our favourite restaurants this was the obvious choice as the venue for our 50th celebrations. Jo ( the owner) went above and beyond to make our night so special and memorable. The staff, decor, service and food were fantastic. Our guests commented...that the buffet was they best they had eaten. Our phones haven’t stopped pinging today with people gushing about the venue. For those that this was their first visit it certainly won’t be their last! To add to occasion we stayed over in the rooms above. The Bridgewater Room was luxurious, stylish and had lots of lovely touches. All amenities were of the highest standard . Many thanks to all the staffMore

Took the family for late Sunday lunch. We all had a fabulous starter and then came the mains! Three roast Sunday lunch with all the trimmings is definitely recommended. This is the best Sunday lunch we’ve had in a long while. There was only one...problem however. We were all too full for a desert!More

We had the best time, our grand children ranging from a 1 year to a 15 year year along with their yummy mummies. The food was great, service and a great atmosphere. We went into the bar for coffees, even though the place was buzzing...we didn't feel rushed at all, just fab.More

We were first recommended to go here back in April 2022 by one of my work colleagues. Since then, we've probably been here about 10 times since then as it has become our favourite restaurant in our local area. First impressions are key to attracting...customers back and we absolutely loved it. The menu here is very different to the usual pub grub restaurants you tend to find so it gives a bit of uniqueness to what you can order. It really helped me extend my range of meals I can have because it was here that I tried my first risotto, first steak, first duck and first sea bass. They also take any allergies very seriously as my girlfriend has an allergy to red onions. The waiters and waitresses go out of their way to make sure our dining is the best it can be and to validate any queries we have to make sure there's no red onions. What also elevates this restaurant for us is that as it's name suggests, it's by the side of water, The Bridgewater Canal to be exact. So when you're dining here, especially if you're seated in the conservatory area, overlooking the canal, it makes for a very romantic atmosphere. There's just something for us about being near water that makes it special so it's perfect for a sunset meal. On our most recent meal, they must have read my comments clearly on the booking form as I slipped that it was for my girlfriend's birthday and there was a Happy Birthday message written using chocolate sauce from her Chocolate Fudge Cake order. We weren't expecting that at all! That makes this restaurant feel very personalized for customers. Really I should have wrote a review when we first came. But either way, we are always feel very welcome and all of our meals have been delicious and well served. We'll be sure to be back again real soon.More

After spending a decent amount of time choosing from the menu online we arrived and were seated in the conservatory to be told the menu had changed, disappointed with the new choices as the bruschetta and rib eye sounded lovely. The food we did eat...was ok, soup and beef and mash just not what we were intending on having. Service was generally poor and we waited almost half an hour before we got a drink which we had to ask for, the waiter was particularly unhelpful after taking our order never once came back to the table to see if we were ok. After waiting another 15 mins for someone to bring a card machine we decided to get up and asked if we could pay on the way out. An updated menu on the website would of saved us a trip to what ultimately was a disappointing evening.More

Popped in for a quick breakfast and whereas the food was cooked well and hot etc, it was pretty poor value for money and very poorly presented. Full English was £12.00 which only consisted of 1 x ave quality sausage, 2 x small bacon, 1...egg, tinned tomatoes and beans, 2 rounds toast. Compared to local competitors this represented a small junior breakfast. At best this was the same quality as greasy joes on any salford shopping precinct for £6. So double the price is fine if the quality, quantity and presentation follows it. Plus my sons milk shake was £6.75! Really? Small glass of whisked milk shake with one Oreo biscuit!!More
