I am surprised there are some mixed reviews here. We were a table to 5 and the food was absolutely first class. The celeriac soup was rich, and had a depth of flavour which can only be achieved by a long reducing period. The venison pie, all homemade - was one the best pies I have ever had in any... More

We attended a wedding and reception at the pub. The location is lovely and the pub itself is gorgeous both inside and out. Very atmospheric. We did find the food disappointing - small portions and not anything special. I'd recommend ordering lots if you have any big hungry men in your party. The piped music was also quite loud at... Stayed here for a wedding, staff were very attentive and helpful. Food was great, portions could have been larger, big, hungry blokes better order a couple extra sides. I would definitely come again.

This place offers excellent food, theres always something different and exciting on the menu, yes the prices are higher than pubs in the area but the food is worlds better. Just one little niggle, the main courses have changed from our last visit and are less intricate, nit quite up to normal standard. Starters and deserts still delight !!

I had not been here for about 10 years despite living locally. But pleasantly surprised and I will return sooner. The food is quite pricey, but the standard matches the price. Good choice of real ales and well kept. Only negative - I don't mind background music, but it was a little too loud. Please keep it down!

I was recommended to try this restaurant by a friend who hasn't been there for a while. The meal was good but in my opinion over-priced.

I've been a few times since my last review and been disappointed. The menu gets shorter each time and the food hasn't been great.

.........great location, really friendly and helpful staff but let down by dire food. Reading the menu made me drool with anticipation however the salmon with cauliflower compote was bland and tasteless and the roast pork was overdone and swimming in a watery gravy. The seasonal veg of "butternut squash, over sweet red cabbage & over cooked cauliflower." is not seasonal... More

hostelry regularly and Back in January 2015, I gave this establishment a very poor review due to the rudeness of the staff at that time. I and many of my friends now frequent this hostelry regularly and can only compliment Kieren , Daisy and their staff on the truly welcoming and sincere approach. What a change! Nothing is too hard... Having previously had utterly fabulous hospitality and food at the Anchor - today totally blew that out of the water! I booked several weeks in advance for a family celebration lunch for our eldest son's 18th - being told the private dining room was already booked we assumed it was still a really popular venue and opted to eat in...
