We have eaten here on a number of occasions since it opened and we have never been disappointed. The Wednesday and Sunday banquet deal is exceptional value, especially whilst the Eat Out to Help Out scheme is in place, which they are a part of. We have had Poppadoms, Starters, Mains, Veggie side and Rice/Naan plus a beer each for less than £13 per head. Incredible value and the food was delicious. We will be back for sure, with or without the scheme. Well done, and thank you!

Great first visit!

Went here with friends on Wednesday 12th February. Nice clean restaurant and surprisingly warm considering the temperature outside. The restaurant is quite big and the tables not too close together. They have a good deal on Wednesdays including starter, main, side dish and rice or nan. Portions were good. I had the lamb special (slightly extra) which was excellent. Good wine list and reasonably priced. We went for the Shiraz. We were served by quite a few waiters which got a bit confusing. Met Chef Mifta too afterwards. Will definitely be back!

We have wanted to try this new Indian since it opened recently and last night we had been out with my daughter and her family and decided to eat out. We went to this place and so glad we did. The food is lovely and as the place has just opened the surrounding are so nice. I had Lamb Tikka to start followed by Garlic Chilli Chicken Tikka. It was the best India I have had in ages. The service was very good and for the six of us Starters mains sides total bill £121 very good value. By the way the rule “if the toilets are clean the kitchen is clean, the kitchen must be sparkling.” All in all totally satisfied.

Disappointing

I wanted to be able to give this place a gleaming 5 star review after my first visit, however this is sadly not the case. For a new business I was pretty shocked to have received the terrible service that I did. From the moment my partner and I walked in - to the moment we left, we had the most lacking service. It was not busy; over half the tables were empty so I can only imagine that perhaps they had been busy earlier and had just decided they no longer had to be nice to anyone. The waiter who eventually came to get our drinks order did not look at us once.. and I’m not even exaggerating. In fact he made us feel like a huge inconvenience just being there. We went out of our way to be polite and friendly and it was simply met with contempt. There were approximately 3 waiters on duty and what looked like the manager, only one of the 3 waiters seemed to be friendly or remotely approachable. We could see the manager talking to other guests but we did not have this pleasure.. We didn’t even want to order another drink or dessert as the whole experience was rather awful. Despite the harsh review.. I’m not a difficult customer, I’m always polite, well mannered and empathetic if the staff are busy or have a difficult time, but this was simply not justified and not ok, especially for a new business. I work in customer service and I have worked in restaurants previously so I’m aware of the environment, a smile really isn’t that hard. Least of all.. don’t alienate your new customers, who could potentially be quite valuable to you. The food was really good so at least that’s one positive here (maybe stick to take-away though and save your money/tips for the more deserving venues who push quality service and value their customers). Hopefully they sort this out and it picks up but I’m not too optimistic.

So i went to Miftas tonight with my friends, and there are quite a few reasons to why i am writing this review. Firstly, just before we ordered we asked the they were doing the 50% off deal as they were on the 'eat out to help out' list on the Gov's website. When we asked this the first time the waiter said "not on this site" which confused us very much as we were pretty sure Miftas is only in Alton. After ordering our food we started discussing the situation between ourselves as who we assumed was the manager came over to ask if we were okay. We then proceeded to ask the same question if they were on the scheme to which he replied with " We applied to be on it and got accepted, we trialed it on a customer who refused to give their name and address (which may i add they are meant to do track and trace anyway whether its for the eat out help out offer ) so because of that we have decided not too do it." This we thought was odd in its self as the offer only started today (03/08/20) so when would they of had time to trail it? We replied and said they need to take their name off of the Gov's website. We proceeded to have our meal and the food was really lovely, however the customer service wasn't good at all - the waiters seemed very rude and super awkward, I personally asked for some tap water and had to ask for it again towards the end of finishing my meal because i hadn't bought it yet. It wasn't like it was busy in there either as there were 3 other tables of people maybe. They also were not wearing masks but coming very close to us as well which i didn't think was right during a global pandemic. When our bill came we were going to split it and pay for our own meals, as we were working it out it seemed very over-priced but proceeded. 3 of us paid ours (what we worked out) then my friend who was left to pay asked how much was left knowing how much her meal should of cost. It turned out it was £6 over what we had all worked out, so the waiter said "do you want to see a menu" we reply with a yes please. What he did was bring the menu over and show my friend 2 things from her order and that was it, didn't give us time to work it out or nothing. My friend end up just paying for it anyway and we all just get up and leave. Once we get home we received a call from them saying they didn't know they were on the 'eat out help out' scheme after we showed them proof. He said "the next time the four girls come in they can have it" we refused and said we wanted a refund which he said he cannot do for us. He just kept saying that next time we go we can have 50% off, which we replied and said at this rate there won't be a next time after they contradicted themselves so many times. I have honestly never been so angry and upset with a restaurant before, as i believe they knew exactly what they were doing - they looked at us and thought we were so gullible we would believe them. I think it is very disappointing and we are actively looking for a way to report them. Would not recommend and will 100% not be returning.

A very disappointing service

We had previously booked a table for 4, when we arrived, there clearly was not a table reserved for us, even though i had received confirmation of the booking. We then waited approx 5 minutes for a table to become free, which was fine. After that the service went down hill, long wait to order drinks, for drinks to arrive and then to order food. We went for the banquet meal, the starters arrived 45 minutes after ordering and the main 2 hours!! it appeared that the majority of diners that we spoke to were unhappy with the service. The food itself was well presented and tasty, it was just the service that let the evening down, the waiters were miserable and made you feel as if they were doing you a favour. It's such a shame for the restaurant, as locals, we were very much looking forward to trying and supporting them but unless the service improves will not be going back.

Birthday meal

Went with family for my birthday, booked for ten they couldn't find our booking so had to show them proof we had booked before we were seated. Food was good when we got it as they kept getting our orders wrong and missing things we had ordered and wasn't even busy. Are plates were never took away all the time we sat there after eating. Staff pushy and lazy. Also when it came to paying they told us with the 50 percent off it was 165 but wouldn't give us a receipt they said they needed it to claim. Think there on the fiddle

AWFUL AVOID

I booked this place for my sons 18th tonight. Shortly after I arrived, it became apparent that they had no record of our booking (which they confirmed via email). They shunted my party (2 of which were disabled) for 11 around the restaurant with no explanation for at least half an hour before we sat down. We then sat for 2 hours waiting for our food. When I tried to ask what was happening, I was dismissed by various waiters. The manager promised to sort it out, but unfortunately, nothing arrived. One of the waiters was incredibly rude to my husband and sister in law, arguing with them about what they could order. When we complained upon leaving, MR Rude told us it was his managers fault!! (Please note that if you go on a Wednesday, we were told by Mr Incredible Rude, that the WHOLE table has to order the banquet offer, otherwise NONE of you are allowed it). We ended up walking out and eating in pizza express, along with another large birthday booking and another table, who had also sat waiting for over two hours for food with no explanation or anything to what was happening. Pizza Express were billiant.

Awful. The food was delivered 30 minutes later than the booked online delivery slot despite me making a courteous call to check that the delivery driver was not lost (we do live in a rural area). Two of the main courses were served in what I can only describe as a sugary sauce. It was tasteless, highly coloured, not authentic and so sweet that we couldn't actually eat the meal. Very disappointing, tasteless mush is the only way I can describe it. The King Prawn starter was a single prawn in a soft batter and tasteless as were all the other dishes. We ordered five different main course, and two starters for five people. We were all starving, but what was left speaks for itself. I wish I had cooked at home and saved £95.

Food was not great. Keema nan had no filling at all and garlic nan had no garlic. Felt under pressure to eat up and get out - the waiters were not really interested In answering any questions - just wanted to get your order. I was brought the wrong main (they brought me the starter version even though we had already had starters) and were fairly indignant when they had to take it back and replace it. Was overcharged on the bill. Was not a great experience. They had clearly booked too many seating intervals and everything felt rushed and impersonal. I was just visiting friends in alton but wont go back to that restaurant.

Fabulous Food

One of the best Indian restaurants I have been to. Many thoughtful touches and an truly enjoyable experience! Food was delicious too. Service is attentive but not pushy. Ice cold drinks were a very welcome addition to our meal. Excellent selection of dishes and the staff are very happy to discuss individual taste on heat and make helpful suggestions. The food was of excellent quality and very filling. I will definitely be returning.

Just been here for a take away, I understand so much about the current situation at the moment... But I have never had or seen anything so sh@t!!!!!..I picked up it was stone cold when got home, rice was like powder chicken was like a flip flop and a few bits were missing £50:00!!!! I would not recommend

Since they opened I have had many meals from Mifta's, the food and service has always been great and staff generally friendly and helpful. Last night I had my family over to try it out. We phoned to order a takeaway early, in case it was busy, but it rang for ages and went to answerphone, with a message that said 'to order a takeaway, leave your order now' which we did. About 20 mins later we decided to go to the restaurant to see if it was ready. We found our order had not been taken at all, because 'we never check that answerphone'. We had to make our order again, and had to wait almost 45 mins for it to arrive. There was no apology, and we were even charged for the beers we had while we waited. During the time we waited, a steady stream of customers were arriving to find their orders weren't ready, had been lost, or had been delivered to the wrong address. It was an extraordinary scene, but there were still no apologies, no offers of discounts, and nobody seemed to much care. I suspect that the volume of orders just totally overwhelmed them, but sadly I won't be going back there unless I'm confident that customer service has become top of their priority list. I would have given a rating of 'Terrible' but the food, as always, was excellent.

Delivery consistently late

Having increased delivery charge to £8 I expected a prompt service. Despite ordering early as it opened I waited over an hour and a half when being told it would be 30 mins and then received cold food. Asked for a call from the manager, not forthcoming, asked for a refund on delivery charge, declined. Complete lack of Customer Service and really poor customer experience. This has happened twice in a row. All of the above equals a lost customer…….. can anyone recommend a decent Indian takeaway who will appreciate and value customers, thanks.

It was my sons 13th birthday and he h t choice of the restaurants in Alton , he chose Mifta’s as he loves Indian food and we had yet to visit. We were not disappointed by the quality of food, the menu was vast and had great selection and we had great service from the staff. The ambience of the restaurant is also lovely . It made for an all round great experience and we will defiantly be back . Great to have this restaurant in Alton .
