Popped in for the very first time yesterday (12.01.22) and met with a friend for a cooked breakfast and a catch-up. Excellent breakfast, well presented and served by friendly staff. Highly recommended and is ‘Biker Friendly’ too :-) Love the quirky decor and airy feel...to the place.More

We recently held our engagement party here at the departure lounge. The venue is perfect for a function and all our guests commented on what a stunning venue it is. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Farley and his team made sure everything ran...smoothly from the planning to everything on the night and couldn’t of been more helpful.More

Last night I had the most fabulous 60th Birthday Party at this totally amazing place. The Marquee and Café were mine for the night. Simon and his staff were amazing. The Pig roast was so tender, cooked in the marquee, with delicious side dishes ....The place sat 80 people, with twinkling lights in the marquee for a lovely calming atmosphere . I Highly recommend this place!More

We discovered the Departure Lounge whilst searching for a wedding venue in Hampshire. We knew the first time we visited that this was the perfect place for our needs. This was in February 2020, and we set the date for late July 2021 - as...you can imagine, there was a lot of uncertainty about the day right up until the week beforehand due to the pandemic. Simon was very reassuring throughout this period, and thankfully our intended date fell on the first weekend after wedding restrictions were lifted. Despite us only being able to finalise our arrangements at the last minute, Simon and his team put everything together perfectly, going above and beyond for us. Nothing was too big an ask, and the day was very special for us and the guests. If you are looking for a wedding venue that you can personalise and have lots of flexibility with suppliers and decoration, but you still have an amazing team on hand to help with logistics and organision, then we highly recommend the Departure Lounge - it is also perfect if you are looking for a 'festival' style wedding venue. We chose Simon's hog roast for our meal, which was fantastic and well received by the guests. There is a marquee already on site, so you do not need to hire this separately. We had 120 guests, which the venue comfortably fitted. We used external suppliers for evening food and our entertainment, and Simon helped them all set up on the day with no problem. He also had backup plans for incleement weather, but luckily the rain (just about) held off. I should also mention that the final cost was extremely affordable. Aside from our wedding, we have popped in regularly for lunch and the food is always fantastic (we recommend the cheese and chips and Sophie's malteaser cheesecake if you're lucky enough to be there on a day it appears!), and we always have a lovely welcome. We cannot recommend the place highly enough. Thank you so much Simon and the team for our wonderful wedding day!More

Been here many times before and always returned as never had an issue. We noticed on their website they are only open a few days a week, one of which was the day we wanted to go. When we arrived, I forgot to put my...mask on, the lady told me I needed to wear it, even to walk to the table. I apologised and said I had one in my car. I then found one in my bag. We was shown to our table and the lady gave us the menu, well..menu being probably no more than 5 or 6 items. But it was ok, we had the breakfast. Our drinks arrived, but whilst waiting for our food, a lady walked in, walked past us and into a door way saying 'private' . She appeared about 5 minutes later, walked back past us and behind the counter. She then put a visor on, this is when we realized, she was actually a member of staff. Why is it I was told to wear a mask to walk to a table but yet staff can walk around without them!!! Very hypocritical!! The breakfast really was not as good as what we have had in the past. I am aware there was a wedding that took place the night before. Our mushrooms had definitely been reheated, but cold and shriveled, the bacon was well and truly over cooked and burnt. The beans were dry with no sauce actually in them. We would normally say something but we were on our way to going away and did not have time to wait for a new breakfast to arrive. The place really was not busy so I can't even think that was the reason for such poor quality. We always use The Departure Lounge on either days out or on our way to going away, but I have NEVER had any compliants what so ever but it seems such a shame when these food establishments have been closed for such a long time to then reopen and serve such poor food. It really was unacceptable.More

A friend and I visited the Departure Lounge last Sunday for breakfast. It was not overly busy and we quickly obtained a table. It was awful as if someone had poured something very sticky over it - not a great start. It had not been...cleaned. Service was slow but we decided on the English Breakfast or 'Regular' as they call it, why they wish to Americanise this essentially British meal is not entirely clear, again not good. Our waiter did arrive to take our order but only seemed able to say 'no worries'. Food arrived but my egg was overcooked so it was sent back for a softer version. A lady waiter was much better and put my 24 v coffee into a bigger mug. We requested tomato sauce but as nothing arrived I had to go to the till to request some which elicited the usual 'no worries' reply. On the good side the sausage and bacon were superb as was the coffee. Very disappointing and certainly not worth the £ 8.50 for the meal. Must do better in future !More

I hired for a party, excellent communication from the start and nothing was too much trouble. Simon and his amazing staff were on hand all night to look after us and serve from the bar. The venue is spacious but has a friendly comfortable vibe...about it. The way it is decorated is perfect for any occasion. Great value for money, loads of parking basically perfect. My husband and I had our wedding reception at The Departure Lounge Café in August. We stumbled across the venue last summer and as soon as we saw it and met with Simon, the owner, we knew it was the perfect venue for us. The...café itself is so stylish and quirky that it needed very little decoration. We had totally free reign over the styling of the marquee, and were given the whole week leading up to the wedding to decorate it at our leisure. The field and grounds surrounding the café and marquee are huge and provided a lovely backdrop for photos. We hired lawn games, hay bales and fire pits, and guests were out on the field all day/night.   Throughout the planning process, we kept having ideas of things we would like to add to our day. Literally nothing was too much trouble for Simon. Every email was responded to quickly and thoroughly, and we really felt we got a personal touch by dealing directly with him throughout the process. When the venue isn’t hosting an event it is a fully functioning café/restaurant, so it was also lovely to be able to pop in whenever we liked to have a look at it (and equally to be able to pop back whenever we like post-wedding!).   The venue was closed to the public for the day of our wedding. The main bar is in the café so we used this space as a bad weather option for reception drinks, and our cake and guest book were set up in there. It was also a nice quiet spot for our guests to have some downtime in the evening, away from the marquee and dancing. The marquee was where we had our speeches, meal and band in the evening. We had 110 guests which comfortably fit in the 40ft x 40ft marquee, but had the option of a bigger marquee if we required more space. The venue will source the tables and chairs for you; we opted for 6ft round tables and Camelot chairs but also had the option of long tables and benches too.     Between dinner and the evening reception, the staff rearranged the marquee exactly how we wanted (including laying a dance floor!) in super quick time while guests enjoyed the grounds and games. Food-wise, we had a hog roast provided by the venue as our main meal, along with some really lovely sides, salads and breads. For evening food, we had a ploughman’s spread which included pate and cured meats. Both meals were delicious and went down so well with our guests, and the venue was very accommodating of dietary requirements. We also decided we would like a crepe van in addition to the hog roast, which we were able to source ourselves as the venue puts no restrictions on suppliers. Simon liaised with our suppliers for delivery and collection of items, and when we went back to the café the morning after everything had been packed away ready for us to collect. We couldn’t fit it all in our car, so the venue stored some larger items for almost three weeks until we returned back from honeymoon which was again no trouble for them.   The bar prices are extremely reasonable – this was a big plus as it allowed our guests to drink like fish! And a very random but wonderful bonus, there is an aeroplane permanently on site (I believe it is used for fear of flying courses) and some of our favourite photos from the day are of the two of us sat in it!   This truly is the most incredible wedding venue. We have had so many guests saying how wonderful it was, and because of its uniqueness we are confident that our guests will remember the day for years to come. Our wedding day was beyond our wildest dreams, a month on and we are still buzzing from how much fun we had. We really put a lot of that down to the venue – it is definitely a venue that not only allows, but encourages you to have fun with your wedding day. If you are looking for a venue which really lets you put your own stamp on your wedding day whilst certainly not breaking the bank, we would wholeheartedly recommend the Departure Lounge Café. To Simon and the team, thank you so much!More
