I have returned to the Hen and Chickens as my local has had the same menu for two years . Like the menu , like the ales like how it has improved. Sat watching the bands and had a pizza , very nice. Has a...good atmosphere. Will be using more often.More

The Hen and Chicken is a pub full of character. Added to that is the marvellous food on offer. We had a variety of dishes, each was excellent. My favourites were the garlic prawns starter and the salmon Teriyaki, which was beautifully moist and full...of flavour. The service was excellent. Our waitress was helpful and extremely efficient. All in all it was a most enjoyable evening and we cannot wait to go back.More

MY wife and I visited for an evening meal on a thursday which is advertised as 2 for 1 steak night and on looking at the bill we had mistakenly been charged the regular price, this was immediately put right after i mentioned it to...the server but if i hadn't checked i would have just swiped my card and been none the wiser until my bank statement arrived "so beware" also the disabled toilet is the worst i have ever seen although it can be used it is in a dire state and requires refurbishing throughoutMore

My partner and I got the pizza deal (two pizzas and two sides for £30) and although the pizzas were very nice the sides were ridiculously small (the bruschetta was about the size of a quarter of a baguette and the salad was so tiny)....The puddings were nice but the brownie was very small for the price.More

A good hostelry alongside the A31 .The food selection was good and nicely presented in a character building .It seems popular so reservation is advisable . The staff are helpful and friendly which adds to the enjoyment

A nice older style pubs. We were offered a warm welcome and the staff were friendly throughout. A choice of a carvery ( beef Turkey) which was nice or the main menu with a variety of dishes. All was reasonably price, Decent cask ales. A...large free car park at the side, We can recommend and could not fault or visitMore

Quality of food very poor, incredibly over priced and frankly can get better at a Wetherspoons but for half the price. Steaks were very disappointed in particular. Hen and Chicken are similar pricest to the Ivy in Winchester which is shocking!

Absolutely amazing food Super friendly staff Nothing was too much trouble Carvery was fantastic value We found this little gem of a place at short notice and did not disappoint We will definitely return

Visited here end of January and food was beautiful, a return visit on 29/4/23 and very disappointed. Changed the menu, not one thing on there I am able to eat. Fish & Chips is a staple British dish, found in 99% of pubs, not at...this establishment anymore. We will not be returning.More
