This pub is great for food, atmosphere and value for money. We have been going there on a regular basis for over 18 months and always enjoy ourselves. The staff are always attentive, friendly and welcoming. The food portions are large and the food always nicely presented. It has the feeling of a typical English pub and has the benefit of a large garden and a patio area. The outside area always has tubs full of flowers and is very colourful. In the summer there are lots of hanging baskets which add to the overall appearance of the pub. We feel that it is a great pub and would always recommend it. Fabian, the owner, takes pride in the food that is served and does his best to ensure that all his customers are satisfied and happy. Wendy and Charlie.

Thank you Fabian, you delivered a first class service! We held our annual Xmas Party here for 21 people and I wanted to go on record to say what a great place this is. We gave our pre-order without any hassle. The staff worked hard all afternoon to make sure we had drinks, food and then cleared away in a timely manner. The food was excellent value and the quality of the wines was up there with the best locally. I would highly recommend this to anyone.

First time here but went at the invitation of friends who have been there quite often. First impressions great as its a traditional pub with a very "Country local" feel about it, we had booked but there were enough tables free that we could pick where we sat and very quickly a waitress was with us to take drinks orders and deliver menu's. One of my friends wanted to swap the sweet potato fries to normal fries which he thought might require paying for an extra portion but the waitress was happy to do the swap The food when ordered came very quickly and everything was lovely, I had Portobello Mushroom to start which was lovely and Pork Belly for main which was was cooked to perfection. If I was to find anything to be negative about it was something that I think was a one off and that was that for a while a group of customers sat near us had a chap with a guitar which he started playing (sort of) that was annoying as it was making talking difficult. However it stopped quite soon (perhaps a staff member spoke to him) and they were no bother after that.

Previously read all the reviews naturally discarding Christmas and large parties, I was expecting great things being quite a foodie. Sitting outside in the sun we both ordered the ploughman’s not having seen it on a menu for some years. Maybe translation didn’t go as planned (the pub is now run it seems by a lovely Armenian couple) who clearly have no idea what the traditional English ploughman’s should consist of. This one had ‘shop bought’ pate, onion relish, ham, baguette, silver onions. Plus 1/4 tomato, hard boiled egg & some cucumber slices. ???? If the ‘shop bought’ had been removed & replaced with homemade & fresh the price would have been worth it. Service was excellent though !

Excellent ambience, friendly, welcoming and very helpful staff. The foregoing is a major plus as unfortunately, it goes downhill from there. We were a party of 10. Consequently, life being too short, I'm speaking for myself. The beers, from ale to lager, are Molson Coors, badged disaster brews. Sharps Brewers - 'Doom Bar' - was acquired in 2011 and the cask ale is now brewed in Burton. The brewing of 'Czech' Staropramen, on its acquisition by Coors in 2012, was ceded to Carlsberg. Ipso facto, it tastes nothing like the original, Prague brew. Classic beers now produced by arguably, the worst 2 brewers in existence. I chose the lesser of the evils and had a 'Doom Bar' - it was welcomingly well kept so took away some of my disappointment. The 'Carpese of Avocado' was fresh and a fair, basic dish, which augured well. The following main 'Local Belly of Pork', was a rank disappointment. Its crackling was passable but the flesh was dry. The whole was served on a base of mashed potato, which was OK but its accompanying glazed red cabbage, was grossly undercooked. Because of the latter failing, I ordered a mixed salad but that turned out to be a mistake. The unsliced but 'lumped' tomatoes, were inedibly unripe, no olive oil nor vinegar dressings were provided nor offered. I left it all unfinished, didn't dare a dessert and thanked my lucky stars that the double expresso was a welcome relief. My wife and I, shall not be returning.

Last night a family group of us from four different households had a meal at this pub, chosen by my brother as being in a good location for all of us to travel. Upon entering, the pub felt very warm and inviting. We had a lovely meal, the service was excellent and we will back for sure. Thank you.

Well cooked i.e. not over or under cooked food. My scallops were perfect. Very large portions. Chef is able to adjust dishes to suit customer preferences. Good Gluten Free options. Several specials available. Friendly atmosphere. We will visit again.

Very disappointed with choice of wines and food. I asked for two glasses of Merlot and they had only enough for one glass. When we studied the menu we were told that two of the main courses were not available. On choosing dessert we were told that two of those were also not available. The occasion was early evening in the middle of the week so there was no excuse to be so low on wine and food. So we will not be going there again.

We haven't been here for a while because the food has been indifferent. We decided to try it again and my calves liver was so overcooked that I couldn't get my knife into one piece. My wife's chicken with a cream and mushroom sauce was fine. Everything comes served with large quantities of uninspiring vegetables that would be far better served in a dish so that you could take the amount you want. Won't be rushing back.

Four of us ladies go out for a monthly lunch. We decided on the queens head as I heard it had a new lunch menu. Four of us ordered the set menu, two the salmon fish cakes on a bed of red onion, capers and spinach. The fish cakes had an unusual coating on them, were full of salmon, but lacked any seasoning. They were really bland. The other two ladies had fish and chips, looked lovely, but they both left all the chips. They both said it had been fried in what tasted like stale fat/oil. For pudding we all ordered the Eton mess. We had expected home made meringue, but although tasty was shop bought. To be honest we had expected more. It was even harder to try and get anyones attention to pay the bill, as the older lady waitress looked rushed off her feet and a bit fed up. Would not return again I’m afraid which is a shame.

Once again very impressed with our lunch here. The filling in the chicken pie was both delicious and (almost) too much. My friend had an equally beautiful liver and bacon meal. The waitresses were very attentive and friendly. Honestly have never had a bad meal here. Well done.

Lovely meal tonight. Wanted to write a review to say thank you to the chef for coming out and speaking to me about my garlic intolerance, accommodating it with different gravy so that I could have roast. Always have delicious food here and will always come back. The only thing I would change is the desserts, they are good but not as good as the savoury food! 😊

Absolutely fantastic! Fabio is fabulous - his hospitality is soooo amazing - he always makes us feel soooo welcome! The food is always 1st class - my late father introduced me this wonderful, historic pub in the ‘70’s & to date Fabio extends the Queen’s Head quality & high standard…. My partner David, who lives in Essex & is custom to many high end eateries, always requests to eat here…. Thank you Fabio & team !

How did we not know about this place! I’ve lived in Fleet for nearly 20 years and never been and last night we found out what we had been missing! Place was packed not a free table in sight so recommend booking. Staff were enpoint service was great but the food was fabulous! Great menu could have easily chosen five of six dishes on the menu. Can’t recommend the sea bass enough and to actually get crispy sweet potato fries was a dream! Great value for money too will definitely return

Our family visited, there were 8 for lunch, eating outside, 4 children, 4 adults. There was a very warm welcome from the staff, drinks were served quickly and lunches ordered. Didn't mind a short wait as the meals were varied and cooked on the spot. Fish and chip delicious, steak cooked as I liked it and the kids enjoyed their burgers! My wife had the Eton Mess, son ate Bonfee, kids had Sorbets for pudding. Excellent food served with a smile. We will be going back.
