On way to Southampton airport, stopped for food and to watch rugby. Very welcoming staff, brilliant service. They changed TV channel for me. Myself and a friend have visited several times with our babies during the day for food and drinks. We sat in the ‘restaurant’ style area which is nicely decorated. The food is lovely, especially the chips. Relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

We went there today for my birthday lunch (3 adults, 2 teens and a toddler) A warm welcome greeted us, in a spotlessly clean and tidy establishment. Purchased a reasonably priced round of drinks, then sat out back on some benches in the kids play...area (a logical idea we thought, placing benches in the kids area). The whole menu looked good, but wow, when the food arrived we were amazed. This was beyond top quality presentation. Good sized portions too. But the taste, phenomenal! You must try the lamb kofta. 6 empty plates, full bellies and happy faces. We had heard of the Companions good reputation and todays visit did not disappoint. A must for anyone desiring exceptionally top quality food, reasonably priced, in a good location with friendly folks running the place. Thanks you Good Companions 👌👍More

Stayed at Holiday Inn overnight before cruising. Easy 10 minute walk and both enjoyed excellent, freshly cooked bar meals - and drinks. Service with a smile. Spotless property. Looking forward to a return visit. Highly recommended.

Simply outstanding! What a fantastic pub, exceptional food, fabulous atmosphere, superb friendly happy staff, just wished we lived here so it could be our local! Booked in to the holiday inn for the night and this 10 minute walk wonder was on our doorstep. Stepped...inside to be warmly greeted by staff and locals, a pub just how you would like them to be, full of laughter, music and, people of all ages....don't go anywhere else, the companions is a myst! Just WOW! Booking a table for 11 was sooooo easy, simple and very welcoming. Service was lovely, friendly, welcoming, flexible to all of our needs and was 100%. Never been to this pub before but the reviews looked extremely good so we decided to give it a go. We were greeted by Kaitlyn who couldn't have been more helpful, organising for tables to be put together for our group of 4 adults and...three children, one of which needed a high chair which was readily available for her. The children's food arrived first and was met with happy faces and then the adults food arrived a few minutes later. Everyone cleared their plates, it was indeed good pub food. The pies were delicious, the burger was large and tasty and the gammon steak with the eggs and chips was my favourite! We are not locals, but if we were, this would be our local. We hope to visit again. Thank you Kaitlyn and the staff who were working so hard to make such an enjoyable time for our family.More

Without Prejudice: Six of us went for Sunday lunch: Two of us had the pork which was excellent; one had the chicken, again excellent; three had the beef which was not so good as it was a little tough and needed steak knives that were...not provided. Thus it was an effort to cut and detracted from the experience.More

Came for a late valentine's dinner with my partner, we both had steak and it was the best steak I've ever had, I have eaten here in the past and the food is on a different level to any pub, and there is a proper...restaurant vibe. Also, I am Gluten-free and they are always so accommodating - so nice to not be limited!!! Such a lovely pub, it is our local and the staff are always fantastic and its alway so welcoming. The Landlord and Lady are so lovely and will always chat away to any one. The locals are a great laugh and give such a comfortable feeling to the pub. I recommend this pub to absolutely everyone and anyone I meet for drinks, food and any events.More

Called by for lunch and had an excellent meal. The food was exceptionally nice, reasonable choice, superb service, and great value. Note that this is a fairly basic pub, but the attention given was outstanding.More
