We do not write reviews very often. We visit this restaurant once a year as part of our week at Glorious Goodwood and we believe that it is good value for money for a dining experience of this calibre. You would pay double in London. As usual the food was outstanding, with many varied taste explosions. We would highly recommend... More

Went back to 36 on the Quay with my partner. It's my favourite restaurant in Hampshire. I have been many times and have always been impressed with the quality and taste of the food. Not this time.. the duck liver pate, although written as being served with chocolate, actually only tasted of chocolate. It was a terrible first course. The... More

This is one of a series of reviews of meals taken on a gastronomic tour of Hampshire in Summer 2014. My starter of guinea fowl in pasta, etc. was terrific. Plenty of flavour in an harmonious whole - just what a Michelin star restaurant such as this should be serving. The main course of brill was very good, although a... More

I last went here 10 years ago and found it a bit like a grannies tea room. I thought I would give it another try for our anniversary, as I heard it has been updated. It continues to disappoint for an expensive meal out. The welcome and service was cold and the food was over fancy. I ordered half a... More

Having been to this restaurant several times, it's always a great place to go to, with a stunning location. Good service, with good, fresh food although the menus are limited in terms of choices. The cheese selection is the best course with a great cheese menu. Good wine selection, although a little pricey, hence the 4 stars, but it guess... More

We live in Emsworth and have eaten here occasionally over the past 10 years and have usually found it an enjoyable if expensive outing. On this occasion three of us had dinner on a Saturday evening and I have to say I found it rather disappointing both from a service and food point of view. We were greeted warmly, seated... More

Rather poky entrance but lovely, domestic-scale feel to the restaurant (Splendid views over the harbour for watching the setting sun). Welcoming, gracious and attentive staff, four beautifully-chosen items on the menu for each course and an excellent wine list. We chose "ceviche" for starters but it wasn't by any means the Classic Peruvian dish of raw fish marinaded in lemon... More

This understated, chic friendly restaurant is superb. Having got down to Emsworth late on Saturday, and a rather unfortunate over-bokking issue at Trents in Chichester, we decided to see if 36 On the Quay would let us have a chees plate and dessert, as we were far too late for dinner. Well, not only did they invite us in with... More

We were really looking forward to our anniversary meal here. It was a lovely atmosphere, the staff were friendly and the food was lovely. Little starters/amuse bouche - a lovely selection of little dishes - excellent is all I can say. Very enjoyable and different to normal. Starters - I ordered the venison - delicious. perfectly cooked, well dressed and... More

First rate, sophisticated food. High-end but it delivers. Great service, attentive staff, well looked after. Awesome menu, not shy with the portions even tho this is fine dining at a very good standard.
