Without doubt the best Fish & Chips I have ever eaten! On average once a fortnight for many years! Order online for the speediest service and ease of use. I love the cod and the home made tartare sauce - a match made in heaven!...I enjoyed this so much last night I just may have it again tonight!! It’s the only meal I eat and enjoy so much I have to verbalise my joy at the taste with Mmmmm mmmm sounds and cannot contain my enthusiasm. We, and friends and family from all over the UK agree that this is the best chip shop. Better than most fish and chips served in a pub or even restaurant.

Good old fashioned type chippy, centered in Stubbington. Immaculately clean and very friendly and efficient staff. Booked on arrival as opposed to online and we're informed there would be a wait of 10 minutes as food cooked fresh. No problem. My OAP Mother ordered Seniors...fish and chips which is an exceptional portion. I ordered large cod and medium chips, the chips more than ample. Chips well cooked and fish was outstanding. Clean white meat full of flavour and the batter not to thin or thick, light and crisp perfect. Not many old Chippy's left so hope this continues. Great Chippy 👍🏻More

We thought twice about using this fish and chip shop given a number of reviews citing rude staff. However, on our Saturday midday visit, our only human contact was with the young lady behind the counter who proved to be nothing but pleasant. When we...said we would like to eat our fare on the tables set out at the front, she provided us with napkins, wooden forks and slices of lemon. The cod was absolutely delicious and we really enjoyed sitting in the autumnal sunshine eating the excellent portions which we washed down with a flask of tea that we had brought with us. This story would probably have been different had ‘Mr Grumpy’ intervened ( I assume he was the male who was doing the frying) but, despite his perceived shortcomings, he does seem to know how to provide a very tasty fish.More

Excellent food. Scampi, Cod ,Haddock and breaded plaice. Large Chips huge and enough for 4. Not soggy. Mushy peas and curry sauce. Great value. 10 minute wait on walk in but all freshly cooked. Busy so good sign.

I have previously visited this shop about 6 weeks ago, it's not on my doorstep so a good 30 minute drive. The 1st visit the chips were good, the chips were good ( both fish and chips were greasy ) and I am now asking...myself how can it have gone down hill so quickly in a matter of weeks. Ordered online this evening and we ordered 2 Large Cod, large Chips, Chicken Nuggets, Onion Rings and a Pea Fritter. When we arrived we were asked if we had ordered online and said yes and our order was ready and waiting for us, great start. We drove down to the beach to watch the sunset and as soon as I started eating my Cod it had a very odd texture, it was chewy and I couldn't even pull it apart. It was strange as Cod to me is always white and flakey which it was not. I drive straight back to the shop to ask for a refund but on entering a young lady was stood at the counter and I started saying that the fish wasn't cooked correctly or it may still be frozen as it was chewy. Then a gentleman behind the counter came over to inspect it and didn't really say much, not even a sorry for the inconvenience and was far from polite. I asked for a refund and he said as you ordered on line you will have to wait for the refund to be done. Maybe they should operate that way when you buy online. The chips weren't great tonight either but as a family we will not be returning. I have read many of the reviews before posting this one myself tonight and it's shameful that the premium prices being charged are met by very poor customer service. I would like to mention another chip shop in Southampton called Atlantikos, you can't fault it, freshly cooked fish and chips everything matched with great service. I await my refund.More

Visited here about 3 weeks ago. Lovely and clean and great chips. Came back yesterday and nearly walked out, actually should have walked out. The man frying, was so rude to the staff and me when asking about an item if it was available. The...staff member asked if an item was available and she was told, yes. Then he said to me, if you read the menu then you know we have it. Poor girl was so embarrassed. I won't be going back. His attitude was awful and he was so obnoxious. Sorry Stubbington, this bloke is not doing your village charm any favours at all.More

On Friday night at 8.20 I visited your establishment,it had been a long day as I’m on holiday with 3 teenagers,as soon as I walked in the man” I won’t say gentleman as he wasn’t” was very abrupt and advised me there was only sausage...fish and pie left.I noticed you didn’t shut till 9.I have very fussy children and already knew what they wanted.i asked if he could do chicken nuggets and plain sausage,he again very rudely said no.I’m no fool and know it only takes a few minutes in the fryer and maths tells me you were open for another half an hour,this makes my title as it is,you must be rich as I walked out of what would have been a large order,I would never recommend you and would never use you again.the young servers however didn’t even get too speak and gave me a sympathetic look.if you are the manager,sort out your customer care if not look at your fryer as he obviously wanted an early night!More

We asked Stubbington Fish & Chips to provide boxed meals for our sit down meal at our wedding. They were excellent! Ashley was fantastic from start to finish. The meals were the usual fantastic quality, enjoyed by all, delivered in boxes, steaming hot to a...venue about 10mins drive away from the shop, and they also provided condiments, sauces and steaming buckets of curry sauce and peas which were enjoyed by all! We were hesitant and worried at first during the planning, but it soon became clear that this was going to be a breeze! They even catered for a pan-fried cod meal for a Gluten Free guest, all at a much more affordable price that usual caterers and it was simple for us to dish out pre-ordered choices to our guests, who loved it! Our massive thanks to Ashley and the team, who were fantastic. Definitely worth considering for a unique option at weddings, and they are a well practised team now!More

The premises were clean and the staff friendly. The cod was succulent, hot, boneless and wrapped in golden crispy batter. The chips weren't hot or crispy or golden. They were tepid, floppy, colourless and unappetising. Chips don't have to be awful.More
