Charming hotel and pub full of character and history. Short walk to shops and the train station made it very convenient. Spacious room with a super comfy bed. The room also had a floor fan, which made me very happy. The staff are delightful and...More

From the moment we arrived at this hotel we realised what a very poor standard this hotel was. There were noisy, drunkeds around sitting outside near the car park, with no effort being made by the staff to quiten them down. No offer of help...More

This is the worst hotel I have stayed in for a long time , my sister and I were staying for one night as we were going to a concert in nearby Havant , I have stayed in many three star hotels , and in...More

As a first time user of Old English Inns this represented a bad choice. The Bear is very poor in many respects, the reception staff and bar staff were disinterested, the cosy pub as represented in the pictures was nothing more than a small alcove,...More

You could easily walk by this place and miss its quirky charm. Part seriously old coaching inn (check out the beamed lounge bar with cellar doorway from 1700's) and part more modern (additions to the accommodation for the hotel). Its not been modernised recently but...More

Stayed 2 nights. Room was very tired and needs updating. Bathroom probably the worst I have encountered - very cramped and tatty - washbasin barely fixed to the wall. We would have asked for a different room, but the surly young man on reception told...More

I hate to write bad reviews but this is one hotel you really need to avoid at all costs, let's start with one positive it's reasonably cheap and dog friendly and pet friendly is why we booked it. We were in a family room which...More

We only stayed one night en route to Isle of Wight. Perhaps a little tired and bedroom in need of a little TLC but the staff were very friendly, the bar and lounge comfortable and the meal really good. Breakfast was excellent with a lot...More

I ate in the restaurant. The menu was good with a decent variety and they had my favourite rose - pebble mill. My food did not take long to come and the waiter was friendly and pleasant. I would be happy to ear here again

We were staying at The Bear and bought the upsell dinner package, which gives £20 value for a £15 spend. At dinner we started with the Sharing Platter for two, a variety of coated chicken, prawns, mushrooms, onion rings, garlic ciabatta and skinny fries with...More

I'm not going to say it's in the best condition but it is clean. The carpets are a little worn, the furniture is dated etc. The bathroom in the room we had was in dire need of a refurb but I could not fault the actual... More

Only had the breakfast during my stay and that was a very good, traditional english breakfast. I am sure their Sunday roast would be just as good.
