A delicious spread of Tapas tonight. Started the meal with some sourdough, olive oil and aioli. The Aioli had enough garlic to knock your socks off which I absolutely love...no vampires tonight. Favourites were the crispy squid with a lovely rich thai dipping sauce. The...charred broccoli with a satay sauce was also delicious as was the salmon Ceviche. Killer plate of the evening however was the chocolate nemesis - a delicious light chocolate slice with a peanut butter parfait and toffee popcorn which had a toffee flavour from the Gods. Thank you for a lovely meal. My one and only constructive criticism would be a request to make the potatoes with the chorizo and spring onion roasted rather than new potatoes for that extra crispness. But personal preference! Hugely enjoyable meal, lovely atmosphere and kind staff.More

We are new to this area and so we looked for somewhere local to go for my son’s birthday in January. Someone recommended Annie Jones, so we booked a table for the 5 of us. What a great find! The restaurant also has a bar,...so the entrance is in the middle and leads to a Mediterranean feel area which seems to be a conservatory type room. There is then an attractive garden behind. The space could have been cold, but had heaters going and rugs on the chairs, so we were warm and comfortable. The decor is fantastic and really made it feel we were somewhere on holiday. There is a private party room on one side of this space and a bar opposite. A doorway also leads to the main bar itself beyond. This whole set up makes it feel really buzzy and fun. The staff are brilliant- professional and friendly. It’s a tapas style menu, so we asked for help with choosing and the waiter was excellent at this and spot on! He was especially nice and funny, making us feel welcome. We had cocktails to start which were really good, and then a variety of tapas - all perfectly cooked and piping hot. I can recommend the squid, and fish taco especially. We had a lovely evening, and can’t wait to go back.More

Taste: 8/10 Value for money: 6/10 Ambience: 9/10 Location : 8/10 Sustainability: 7/10 This was my first time at Annie Jones as I am not local from the area. You walk into a beautifully decorated outside area, all set with blankets on each chair incase...anyone needed them. We were sat in the inside room with fireplace which was warm and cosy. We were a party of 6 so ordered about 18 or so tapas and nibbles to share. Although that sounds like a lot of food, the portions weren't actually that big so it was just about enough for us. I was absolutely delighted to see such good vegan choice on the menu that too clearly labelled. The service was great and we were looked after well by both the ladies at the restaurant. Most of the tapas were delicious, some (physically) easier to share than others. The only minor criticism I have is the tortilla itself which were quite hard. I'm not sure if this is because they were reheated. Aside from the tapas, the restaurant also does the usual drinks - great wine selection, prosecco, hot drinks plus desserts. All three of the desserts were presented brilliantly. I had the vegan tiramisu, which was one of the best I have had. Overall, I would highly recommend this restaurant. Food is delicious, ambience fantastic and prices are on the higher side but it is worth the experience for the odd occasion.More

New to the area, spur of the moment visit rewarded by very warm welcome. Dog friendly in a significant indoor area as well as in the courtyard. A little unexpected gem in town. Only snacked but delicious mixed nuts and hot crispy tasty fries.

I visited this place on a warm evening and was delighted to discover they have a courtyard. Almost hidden in the street full of shops. The food was great; a sharing board for 2 of cheeses and meats and I had a portion of belly...of pork which was divine. Would definitely recommend.More

I thought the last review a bit harsh so prompted to add this. It is billed as a tapas bar and this is what you get. The menu is limited but there is enough choice to avoid meat if you wish. Our aubergine was tasty...and had some originality; fries good. hake tostada fine and good ice cream to finish. Staff deserve their tip being fast and friendly. Sitting by the Koi pond in sunny weather a treat on its own. They told us that they hoped to expand the menu soonMore

Visited here - the only good thing was the staff service, so the service charge automatically added to the bill was warranted but I hate when restaurants do that. 'Tapas' here is just another way of fleecing you for a third of a portion. We...were charged around £8 per portion of which there were 3 mouthfuls. Yes I know that is the whole concept of tapas but rest assured the price is not. Also there is an ante room at the front which used to be a coffee area - under no circumstances accept a table in there - a sad and soulless alcove with just 3 tables which was like sitting in a doctors waiting room. This place has a feeling of it being just about taking/making as much money as it can get away with and it shows far too much. Will not return.More

I believe the current menu is not what is shown on the pictures here. It is most certainly not Tapas either. Slushy odd combinations of food, all smothered with the same salad. Very odd, I can only assume they are in transition for chefs. Unfortunately...I also received an oxidised wine although that can happen to anyone. Such a lovely place with so much potential if they change the kitchen department and scrap the existing menu.More
