Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Held the funeral reception for my Dad here. The team were excellent, from the landlord right through to the bar staff. We had use of a separate section of the bar and the food was promptly served. Food quantity was spot on and quality was...also excellent, including the dairy free option. A plastic free box was provided to take the few leftovers away - hurrah - and of course, the London Pride and HSB were very good too. Recommended - and thanks to everyone involved.More

The food was very nice. I was surprised with how filling even just a starter was. My daughter liked her food also. All round good food

Such a great evening. Really warm welcome from the hosts, and a delicious meal. We had a lovely quiet table and the service was just the right balance of attentive and relaxed. This place never disappoints. See you again soon!

Very disappointing meal, have been before and really enjoyed the food But on this occasion it was extremely poor. I had to send my food back as the fish was not cooked properly and very greasy, the staff were very accommodating and nothing was to...much trouble but unfortunately the replacement meal was not much better I was given a small discount which was a kind gesture Not sure if we will return which is upsetting as the pub is lovelyMore

Disappointing and expensive lunch. Pie was broken for which the chef apparently apologised, but it wasn't great anyway. Accompanying veg was poor, but the fries were quite good. Partner was also disappointed with her meal, tasteless and bland. The number of UK flags per square...foot might win some over, but this once lovely pub is going downhill.More

Went to this pub a few years ago, was busy and cheerful with great food and drink. This visit was a disappointment. Expensive low quality food, especially the pork and chicken. The only let down in the area, which we visit often.

As always the food and staff were lovely. Good atmosphere and good price. We come here most Sundays. Ellie, Jamie W and Traci were all their usual helpful and attentive selves and part of the reason we return each week is because of the staff.

Went in with my wife for a Sunday roast. It was amazing, beef was pink in the middle, definitely home cooked. My wife’s roast pork was also delicious. I highly recommend this pub.

My husband and I visited on Sunday for lunch. Both had roast, the roasties were light and fluffy, the pork was juicy and cooked perfectly, my husband had the chicken, again was cooked just right, still juicy and tasty stuffing too.. the veg was al...dente, not over cooked, we had enough room for puds too, I had a home made bread & butter pudding with lashings of custard, just what the doctor ordered on a rainy Sunday! This pub used to be our favourite for Sunday lunch but todays experience was awful. The chicken was like rubber obviously bought in and already stuffed with something tasteless.Everything was shoved on the plate and covered in tasteless gravy which ruined the cauliflower cheese. The carrots were...rock hard.My husbands pork was just as bad.He risked a very expensive pudding which again was obviously a cheap supermarket one and was unpleasant to taste. The table next to us were also very disappointed with their food.More

Dear sirs Yesterday Friday the 10th March I and 3 others had a very expensive lunch at your establishment. There is usually 10 of us but the others could not come to lunch, but will be guided by what we have found. My wife and...I had the fish pie which sounded very nice on the menu but we were very disappointed with what arrived in a 2 X 4 inch trine as I thought it needed more than 2 pieces of salmon and potatoes could not find the other fish mentioned on the menu couple of bits of carrot and a couple of sprigs of broccoli for all for £19 I thought it was very much an over charge it could have benefited with some chips but not as a side order if anything too fill the plate up as it was very sparse. I did not want to raise my thoughts at the time as I wished not embarious the member who booked the venue. But she did say later we would not be returning. - [ ] We have walked past your pub many of times on way into Romsey and thought how nice it looked and will have a meal there one day but sorry to say we as a family group de will continue to walk on past. - [ ] Yours D ToopMore
