Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Lovely lunch venue and friendly staff. We visited after having been rebuffed at a racist cafe and had a lovely lunch. It was very relaxing

Please be aware that it is not a Green King pub even though there are Greene King signs all around. It is owned by Greene King but leased out so please be aware that they will not take any of the Greene King Chain vouchers....I have brought this up with Greene King as it was very misleading. It was 9pm on a wedneday. no one else in the pub. The welcome seemed a bit false and after we had ordered drinks I think we figured out why as they starting clearing everything from outside and looked like doing a final wipe down inside. Think we had stopped them shutting early.More

From the moment we walked in the door, we were greeted with a smile, the atmosphere was good, full table service, the lovely young lady came and asked us what we would like to order, drinks came very quickly and the food followed shortly after,...food was of a very high standard, plentiful and very tasty, would highly recommend this gem of a place, so clean, was lovely to walk in somewhere where the tables are not sticky, and the menu is clean, makes a refreshing change, so many establishments should be taking a leaf out of the book of the people who run this place, absolutely amazing, if we holiday up this way again, we wouldn't hesitate to pop in for another fantastic meal. thank youMore

Great roast dinner and awesome location for watching the world go by. The hanging baskets and flowers are beautiful. The table service is a little bit of a pain if you want to order more drinks but this would be our only gripe.

I have just had the most amazing steak and Stilton pie. It was served with mash and fresh veg. My husband had the warm smoked mackerel meal which was gf. Both meals were quality. We made room for the syrup sponge (gf) too. Again …...top quality. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Excellent atmosphere. We will return !!! This is our 2nd trip here this holiday. The Sunday carvery was out of this world too !! Roll on next time 🙂More

Really great cavery.... meat was succulent and there was a wide array of freshly cooked veg, pigs in blankets, stuffing and accompiaments. Would wholeheartedly recommend it for meat eaters. Out vegetarian friend who just asked for vegetables was quite surprised to still be charged the...full price of £15. If we'd have known this in advance I'd have asked for meat on a separate plate, and we'd have eaten her portion. Does seem a little unfair 🤔 Anyway, my husband and I will definitely be back!More

The Mailmans is our go-to pub in Lyndhurst. Indeed a visit to Lyndhurst isn't the same without popping in here for lunch or dinner. The food is lovely and the staff amazing. We've been coming here for 15 years and the quality has always been...the best. Thanks guys.More

Stopped for a coffee and relax after a walk in the Forest. Table service only is a nice change and all the staff were super polite and friendly. The service was also speedy, the "just a coffee" changed to cream tea as another table had...one and looked very nice. That's exactly how it turned out to be too, the scones were warm and fresh and had plenty of jam and cream and the tea was also very nice. A really nice time was had for a spur of the moment decision.More

Lovely little pub in Lyndhurst, popped in for a couple of drinks whilst visiting was greeted by a lovely friendly welcoming lady, it was a table service only so just as we came through the door she asked if we were eating or just drinks,...it was just drinks so she took our order amd told us to take a seat outside and she would bring it out for us! We aren't used to table service just for drinks at our local pubs so it threw us a bit, I planned on sitting inside, (I'm a redhead and had had enough of the sun) but I got the feeling Inside was for dining? I could have asked but it wasn't to much bother for just a quick drink, just not what we are used to at a pub! service very efficient and with a friendly smile. Nice little place.More

Nice beer. Garden was empty, and a bit breezy. Went to sit in one of the little cabins to be told it’s £5 to use them. Not the most welcome start to a session so stayed for one and went elsewhere. Beer was ok though....Just need read the room and when only two people are there maybe offer them a reason to stay.More

Called in after a bike ride around the forest, in search of a meal to refuel. After a very friendly welcome our food arrived very quickly and was delicious - my chicken, pork and stuffing pie from the specials board was hearty and tasty. My...partner’s burger also got a glowing review. Portions were very generous and table service really fast. Thank you, we will be sure to come again!More
