Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Lovely log fire and comfortable bar. Greeted on entry and well looked after. Great pub food, wholesome and home made. Fish pieces delicious as was pie of the day. Didn't have room for dessert as plentiful portions. Will be back

Used to be a regular haunt many years ago, today visited after a long time away, fantastic welcome by staff Give time to pick what drinks and food we wanted, very informative waitress around the food on the menu Lovely food well presented with good...sized portions. My husband who is a pudding person absolutely loved the home made crumble and custard Definitely would recommend this pub and we will visit again soonMore

Thank you very much for an amazing meal (pork 5 ways). My mum owns a pub so we struggle to find pubs / restaurants that offer the same level of food / service that she provides. The old beams is very dog friendly - the...chef knelt on the floor feeding my dog chopped up sausage! Really lovely staff, will recommend to everyone!More

Christmas Lunch what an experience!! This was our first Christmas Day here and what a brilliant experience it was. Its a slow meal and cleverly organised by the staff to make the most of your time there. All in all the experience was 4 hours...so it's not a day to book if you want to be eat and go. We as in the whole pub were escorted to our table and sat down and served drinks, once everyone was seated and had drinks then they start to serve the food. This is a really smart move on the pub as it means everyone is sat and there is no one loitering at the bar and it also regulates alcohol intake preventing drunken behaviour. The whole pub got served it's starters, mains and desserts at the same time, so everyone had their starters, then we all waited until those were done and collected and then everyone had their mains. And the same with desserts. Again a very clever way to deal with such a huge endeavour as a Christmas lunch. The food was as always beautiful, top restaurant quality and beautifully cooked and hot throughout. There was a gorgeous little homemade soup that everyone had with parsnip crisps, I'm not a parsnip fan but these were lovely. I had the Pheasant and it was seasoned so well with garlic and just the right amounts. My family had Turkey and it was moist with generous amounts of beautifully cooked Veg.The staff made you feel like part of the family. I had cheesecake for dessert and my partner had Christmas Pudding. Again beautifully done and presented. Couldn't have wished for a nicer Christmas Day with my elderly parents.More

💫💫 If I could give this restaurant 11 stars out of 5 - I would. Service was absolutely outstanding, all the staff from the bar/waiting/restaurant were amazing and could not do enough to ensure your visit was special. The food was also absolutely incredible -...the carvery particularly. So, thank you - you made my son’s birthday and us all so happy after our visit to your amazing restaurant. Highly recommend 💫 👌🏻👌🏻🥰More

Had a lovely meal here on Thursday lunchtime, despite them having a large event on in their Conservatory. Our food came out in a timely manner and all four of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals. I had the Pork Medallions in a Mushroom sauce, I...swapped the Parsley Mash for garlic potatoes, it was gorgeous and the pork cooked perfectly lovely and moist, my husband and Sister-in-law had the Fish Pie which they said were very good, Brother-in-law had the catch of the day, Sea Bass on Samphire and garlic potatoes, which again perfectly cooked and all perfect size portions. It was our third meal here and consistently good so we will return.More

Lovely staff but food luke warm and we were sat in the extension part of the pub and it was freezing- the radiators were cold so really not very convivial to a relaxed Sunday lunch . Very expensive tiny bottles of Prosecco at £10 each..., don’t think I’ve paid that price anywhere, verging on the extortionate, although wine reasonably priced. Will not go back.More

Didn’t live up to its reputation for us. There was a 70th birthday function going on so it was quite busy. Actually the buffet food at the party looked a damn sight better than what I had served to me. Our drinks were forgotten about...so we had to order them again. The starter pork fitters were sodden with grease. And the colour of it was a sort of burnt orange and smell of old chip shop scratchings. Great shame because if done right it would’ve been tasty. The main was sirloin. 60% of it was chewy like rubber so not enjoyable at all. No side sauces are offered with the steak. Just chips and cherry tomatoes. In fact the side menu is practically non-existent. We were not offered a dessert so no idea and cannot comment here. We paid and left somewhat disappointed after hearing reasonable feedback on the place in the past.More

I really enjoyed my visit to The Old Beams at Ibsley last Friday lunch time. It was very busy so was glad a table had been booked. Really pleasant pub with a lovely ambiance and good staff. I was there with my husband and friend...and 2 golden retrievers and was made most welcome. My meal, scampi and chips and my companions meal of ham, eggs and chips was very tasty, hot and cooked to perfection. The cheesecake with berries was also delicious too. Very pleased with our meals and service. Would recommend. Probably best to book table first.More

Good afternoon Jaqad, I am disappointed to read your experience with us. We were very short staff however this should not have happened. Lets correct this when you next return as you know only too well that our standards are far higher. Happy New Year

Took an age to get our drinks. Carvery not available. Staff pretty useless spent longer chatting amongst one another than serving customers. Took over an hour to get our one course lunch for four. Food average not good. If you couldn’t provide well for the...hungry New Years Day crowd, don’t open. Simple as that.More

Although it appears this venue may have had a few issues over the Xmas period we have to say we are regular visitors, especially for the amazing carvery Sunday lunch, and over the last 2 years have never had a bad meal. The food is...always tasty and well cooked, the service fine even at busy times and all for a reasonable price. Roll on Sunday for our next visit.More

We visited on the first night for just a drink. Staff were very welcoming. We sat in the corner by the pool table which suited us. A very helpful waitress asked if we wanted to sit by the fire she said it might be more...cosy. We could see the same waitress being ultra helpful to diners that evening giving a good description of the food available. We went back the following evening for a meal and arrived early; we were hungry! Jacob took us to our table, but we asked to sit somewhere else which wasn’t a problem. We were served promptly. My food took a little longer which was stated on the menu. Our food was delicious! We were asked if would like to see the dessert menu. We wanted cheese board which wasn’t listed so Jacob checked with the kitchen if they could provide one for us. We were very lucky, they could prepare a cheese board which was provided to our table without having to wait too long. Overall, our experience was very positive. All of the staff were friendly and helpful, our food was tasty and good value. We will definitely return.More
