I’ve used this takeaway often over the past 5 years but I won’t be using it any longer as it’s gone downhill fast and the quality and service is extremely poor !!

We chose Banana Leaf as we wanted an eat in Chinese, most places do takeaway only. The restaurant itself is quite dated, as are many in the area but the staff were welcoming and everything was very clean and tidy. We opted for the three...course Express Lunch Menu at £7.00 per person, which includes a choice of soup starters, a variety of main chicken/pork/beef/tofu dishes, with a rice/egg rice/noodle side and ice cream to finish. If you prefer you can have a chow mien dish instead of a main and side. The soup starter was nice, traditional Chinese soup that was hot and tasty. The mains were generous portions for this style of menu. My kung po prawn dish was really good with lots of prawns and Chinese vegetables and the egg rice was freshly cooked. We both really enjoyed our meals. Would I go back? Yes for a quick lunch, as the price was great, offers good traditional food and the staff were very friendly. For a night out with friends or a special occasion I would choose somewhere else.More
Great value and lots of it, if I was being pernickety the curry was runny like water, I prefer it to be of a thick consistency as l would normally get from a Chinese food outlet.
Take away for family meal. Ordered and paid online which was really easy. When you order it allows you to select a time to collect. We arrived and food was ready within couple of minutes. Lovely and hot. Everyone’s meal was lovely, and received many...compliments. Will definitely use again!More
This was a great Chinese. We had salt and pepper chicken- yum. For mains we shared pork curry, beef black pepper and schezwan chicken (can’t spell) along with egg fried rice and prawn crackers. It was all really good. If we lived local we would...definitely return. They delivered and the food was still hot. YummyMore
Nice food lots of choice in restaurant with atmosphere. You cab choose any 3 starters and any 3 main courses. The portions are not large so 3 items of food is fine. Only thing I didn't like was the waiters who didn't seem to interact...with you and whisked the almost empty plates away sometimes before you had finished. Cost us just over £60 for the 2 of us on a Saturday evening with 1 drink each.More
Good fast food nothing fancy but plenty of it a place to visit if you’re hungry. Service fast and pleasant would visit again when in area.
Booking a bit hit and miss. Wanted 7.30 but that seemed difficult to accommodate so we agreed on 7.15. No idea why this was a problem. As the place was not overly busy. This aside I have to say that after being seated at the...allocated table our drink orders were taken quickly. There are two menus available ours was the eat as much a you can. You can choose up to 7 starters per table. You can follow with a choice of soup and then follow with duck. Final you can select a number of dishes from the main. Friday night is £22 a person. Firstly I would not describe this as a Thai restaurant. our starters, satay chicken, chicken with wasabi, seaweed, prawn in breadcrumbs,Sesame chicken and veg spring rolls all served on a plater. All where outstanding. Hot, well cooked and very, very tasty. The wasabi chicken serving was huge. We then had another portion of prawn, seaweed and spring rolls. That was as far as we got, we were stuffed. I would be more than happy to go back here againMore
Did not enjoy , food not so good , service appalling . Not even has the courtesy to say hello or give you a drink . Lady who came with the card reader warned me to come with cash only next time . Poor service...if you are from ethnic minority person. Never will visit againMore
Me and my boyfriend went for a nibble as we live 2 min away from the restaurant it was around 9pm and we wanted to eat something quickly and go home … and there it started… the staff was very unwelcoming extremely rude I understand...its the end of the shift but that crossed all lines…they pushed us to order which Is understandable but all of the staff were looking at us like we went there to steal something(during the whole meal)… one of the team member were literally standing in front of me watching into my mouth… we felt rushed, very unwanted and absolutely uncomfortable and we couldn’t even finish our food and at the end when i ordered the bill the manager or whoever was that guy brought us a pice of paper just with £42 wrote on it and absolutely nothing else …where is the dishes said on the bill?!? And every price for that? Is that even legally???… this is not our first meal there we loved it before but after tonight we will definitely NOT going back!!!! And i dont recommend that restaurant!!! I am working in a restaurant as well and yes nobody likes the latest tables but that attitude is unacceptable!!!! We rather send us back and tell us they are closed than having a meal like that! Unacceptable and disappointing!More
This place is a regular lunch stop off for us whenever we go to Hemel Hempstead. £15 all you can eat lunch is great value for the quality of food cooked to order, the mains are small portions but you can order more if you...wish and I imagine it stops a lot of wasted food being cooked through over ordering. The staff have always been extremely friendly to us and are very welcoming.More
We came with another couple, like many of the reviewers here we used to come but hadn’t been for nearly 10 years. The reason was the food and service went down hill. I’m pleased to say that both food and service were great last night....Our waiter weyman was really friendly as were all the team. The three courses we had were fine on quantity and quality. The wine was good and there are a selection of beers. Hopefully they will feature some local breweries too in future but for a Chinese restaurant you can’t complain about that. Also on offer we’re plenty of Thai dishes too- so if you used to go like us I’d say it’s time to give it another go.More
Fantastic service, great fresh hot food. Lovely staff nothing was too much and the prosecco is delicious. I normally steer clear of all you can eats but these guys have it bang on. You can order as many dishes as you like in sections and...they will bring it all out hot and tasty. The main course vermicelli noodles and curry's were amazing and we really enjoyed the whole experience. Thanks for a wonderful evening.More
We dropped in for a bit of lunch on Valentine’s Day as a few of us were free. The first thing to say is the people in this restaurant are so friendly, really welcoming & are a pleasure. Was the food the best I’ve ever...had, sadly not but it was way better in the restaurant than the takeaway. The starters were the best course by far. The restaurant definitely needs a refurb & could be better but for a quick lunch and some friendly service it was ok.More
We haven’t been here for a few years and it was nice to go back , The staff were very welcoming on arrival and sat us down straight away as we had pre booked. The food was really nice and you can eat as much...or as little as you want.the San Miguel on draft was very welcomed and went down really well with the food. The staff were superb with ordering the food and drinks. It was really busy and very noisy to the point we had to raise our voices to have our conversations , it was a Friday night so maybe it was the norm now as it’s never been like it when we have visited in the past. I would like to pay compliments to all for the food and drinks but the downside is the restaurant needs to refurbished as it looks very tired and a bit grubby. Eat all you want for under £20 a head . Good value for money. I will go back in the future but it would be really nice to see it have a facelift.More
