We've been using the Banana Leaf for many years for takeaway delivery. Never once have we been disappointed. Much better value than Indian as well. Online ordering is a breeze, although I preferred the older version of the website. Heartily recommended.

Fantastic service, great fresh hot food. Lovely staff nothing was too much and the prosecco is delicious. I normally steer clear of all you can eats but these guys have it bang on. You can order as many dishes as you like in sections and they will bring it all out hot and tasty. The main course vermicelli noodles and curry's were amazing and we really enjoyed the whole experience. Thanks for a wonderful evening.

This place is a regular lunch stop off for us whenever we go to Hemel Hempstead. £15 all you can eat lunch is great value for the quality of food cooked to order, the mains are small portions but you can order more if you wish and I imagine it stops a lot of wasted food being cooked through over ordering. The staff have always been extremely friendly to us and are very welcoming.

I ordered our food to be delivered and added a note for the food to be left on top of our car's bonnet. There was an estimated time for the order to arrive of up to 100 minutes. The order arrived after 90 minutes, but it had been left on the doorstep. The food had to be reheated, the batter on the sweet n sour chicken balls was soft and the sauce itself was very thin and had a sharp taste. Last month I had ordered the same food from another restaurant that was further away

We chose Banana Leaf as we wanted an eat in Chinese, most places do takeaway only. The restaurant itself is quite dated, as are many in the area but the staff were welcoming and everything was very clean and tidy. We opted for the three course Express Lunch Menu at £7.00 per person, which includes a choice of soup starters, a variety of main chicken/pork/beef/tofu dishes, with a rice/egg rice/noodle side and ice cream to finish. If you prefer you can have a chow mien dish instead of a main and side. The soup starter was nice, traditional Chinese soup that was hot and tasty. The mains were generous portions for this style of menu. My kung po prawn dish was really good with lots of prawns and Chinese vegetables and the egg rice was freshly cooked. We both really enjoyed our meals. Would I go back? Yes for a quick lunch, as the price was great, offers good traditional food and the staff were very friendly. For a night out with friends or a special occasion I would choose somewhere else.

Out of the four dishes, only the Chinese meal was good enough. Both the Pad Thai dishes were dry and stodgy, with very little taste. The green curry sauce with the Emerald Chicken was very watery. The two starters of Chicken Satay and Teriyaki Chicken were substituted without explanation with some lightly spiced fried chicken strips with chilli sauce. Perhaps they should keep to Chinese food only. As the Thai food was the most disappointing we have ever tasted.

Ordered food for delivery at 18.30 with an estimated arrival of 20.05 this then went to 20.18. It is now 20. 55 and still not here, called the restaurant and they don't know where it is they have called the driver twice and still no food. Such poor service will Not be ordering from here again which is a shame as I have always used this restaurant.

Been coming here for over 15 years so this review is long overdue! The buffet menu is such excellent value for money, even if, like us, you’re too full to take advantage of the opportunity to order more starters and mains! Am a big fan of the pork dumplings and they offer up some of the best prawn toast I’ve had with a noticeable layer of prawns. The duck in black bean sauce also deserves a call out with plump pieces of duck and a tasty sauce which isn’t cloying like some can be. Service is slick with hot plates and new cutlery and napkins for every course and there is always such a buzz to the restaurant which brings a great ambience (no music required).

Was impressed with how safe they ve made it as far as covid is concerned . All staff wore masks , menu is on an app. To avoid too many people touching menus , track and trace also on each table and screens between tables . 5 stars . Food lovely as always .

My family were visiting and wanted to eat at a Chinese Buffet. Banana Leaf was the only local restaurant I could find which offered an 'All you Can Eat' option, so I booked a table. The food was delicious - so much choice and good portion sizes. The service was first-class. And one extra little touch that impressed was the supply of 'warm,' fresh plates, and cutlery, with each course. In our experience, many more prestigious restaurants often serve hot food on cold plates! I have visited dozens of different restaurants, in many locations, over the years, and have to say that Banana Leaf stands out in terms of food quality, value for money and staffing. Even though the restaurant was very busy, we didn't feel.rushed, or, alternatively, forced to wait for our meal. We will definitely return and would recommend Banana Leaf for an enjoyable dining experience.

Really good experience, nice service ect, BUT! BUT, how can they say on the front of the shop, taste of Thailand?? It’s predominantly Chinese food. The list of foods served on the shop window is Thai, Malaysian and Chinese. It needs to be change to the complete opposite order. This is a Chinese restaurant!

We haven’t been here for a few years and it was nice to go back , The staff were very welcoming on arrival and sat us down straight away as we had pre booked. The food was really nice and you can eat as much or as little as you want.the San Miguel on draft was very welcomed and went down really well with the food. The staff were superb with ordering the food and drinks. It was really busy and very noisy to the point we had to raise our voices to have our conversations , it was a Friday night so maybe it was the norm now as it’s never been like it when we have visited in the past. I would like to pay compliments to all for the food and drinks but the downside is the restaurant needs to refurbished as it looks very tired and a bit grubby. Eat all you want for under £20 a head . Good value for money. I will go back in the future but it would be really nice to see it have a facelift.

Nice food lots of choice in restaurant with atmosphere. You cab choose any 3 starters and any 3 main courses. The portions are not large so 3 items of food is fine. Only thing I didn't like was the waiters who didn't seem to interact with you and whisked the almost empty plates away sometimes before you had finished. Cost us just over £60 for the 2 of us on a Saturday evening with 1 drink each.

Booking a bit hit and miss. Wanted 7.30 but that seemed difficult to accommodate so we agreed on 7.15. No idea why this was a problem. As the place was not overly busy. This aside I have to say that after being seated at the allocated table our drink orders were taken quickly. There are two menus available ours was the eat as much a you can. You can choose up to 7 starters per table. You can follow with a choice of soup and then follow with duck. Final you can select a number of dishes from the main. Friday night is £22 a person. Firstly I would not describe this as a Thai restaurant. our starters, satay chicken, chicken with wasabi, seaweed, prawn in breadcrumbs,Sesame chicken and veg spring rolls all served on a plater. All where outstanding. Hot, well cooked and very, very tasty. The wasabi chicken serving was huge. We then had another portion of prawn, seaweed and spring rolls. That was as far as we got, we were stuffed. I would be more than happy to go back here again

We came with another couple, like many of the reviewers here we used to come but hadn’t been for nearly 10 years. The reason was the food and service went down hill. I’m pleased to say that both food and service were great last night. Our waiter weyman was really friendly as were all the team. The three courses we had were fine on quantity and quality. The wine was good and there are a selection of beers. Hopefully they will feature some local breweries too in future but for a Chinese restaurant you can’t complain about that. Also on offer we’re plenty of Thai dishes too- so if you used to go like us I’d say it’s time to give it another go.
