Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Don’t miss this amazing place for a friendly welcome and outstanding food. They claim their lasagne is ‘life changing’ , well we would challenge anyone to find any better, it’s superb. All meals we had were authentic and our family (young & old) couldn’t have...been happier here. A real gem !More

This is our favourite go to eatery. The food is superb and the staff are so friendly and helpful. Have been going here for years and will continue to do so. Utterly fabulous and so amenable.

What a find! The Bonchurch Inn is a hidden gem of a place. Totally accommodating, lovely staff and delicious food. They will turn any meal into a child portion for you and nothing is too much trouble. I can’t believe we had never found this...fabulous pub in 20 years of living on the island. It is very small and makes a wonderful venue for a special event. You will not find yourself surrounded by loads of diners and yapping dogs. A truly special place. Just be aware there’s no parking on the premises but easy on street parking close by.More

A traditional quaint and authentic family run village pub. We visited as a family of 5 and had the most delicious meal with good wine and a very warm welcome. The life changing lasagna was probably the best I’ve ever had, accompanied by an interesting...side salad. The menu is simple, home cooked Italian. A very memorable evening and I would have no hesitation in recommending the pub to anyone. The desserts were all homemade and delicious, you have to save room!More

Booked in advance. On arrival, we had to discover the hard way that there was no parking so forced to reverse out of the narrow driveway into the road to search for scarce street parking. Walking in, it’s not clear where the entrance is but...once in we were greeted with a curt “yes we were expecting you but not your two dogs”. This despite including it in the online booking. We then had to be re-assigned “a more suitable” table in another room (the saloon). Considering the very high prices, a lot more effort could be put into the decor of this room which was tired and scruffy with original 1970’s carpet. Even the people who arrived after us asked to be moved to the bar and apologised to their friends for being in the saloon. We had the famous Lasagne which was delicious but we did balk at having to pay over £5 each for garlic bread served in plastic baskets.More

Not your normal looking pub but tucked away up a short drive with a lovely courtyard. Great atmosphere and service and wonderful Italian food. We enjoyed it so much we went there twice during our week's holiday. The first time we both had the sea...bass special, which was exceptional, and the second time we had to try the famous lasagne and glad we did, the best we have ever had! Wine good and Tribute beer from the barrel, what more could you want. Book in advance as very popular.More

I booked dinner for the family to celebrate my husband’s ‘big’ birthday - a variety of ages in the party of 13, from 18-80. Most live on the island (we don’t) but no one in the party had visited before. Fantastic and authentic food, lovely...service and unique setting in beautiful Bonchurch. Every dish got rave reviews, even from the impossible to please Instagram generation. Thank you so much for a memorable evening - and even little things, like letting us bring in our own cake, actually mean a lot. We will be back!More

The food was very good, but the service was very slow. The staff were working hard, but as everything was cooked to order, the kitchen was slow. We had to wait over an hour for our main course (we had no starter). We felt his...was a little too long.More

Nestling beneath Bonchurch Down, this gorgeous little Inn is a must for visitors to the area. Parking is difficult, so you might have to walk a little to get there. However, it is well worth the effort, as it is quite exquisite, with its little...cobbled courtyard and tiny terrace. We didn't eat there on this occasion, as we were just seeking new places to visit. Having recently moved to the area, we had been aware of the inn, but had never called in before. Scanning the menu, it was surprisingly mid-range in price and we were there long enough to watch several plates of food pass us by. Each looked very enticing, so we made a mental note to call again for a meal. Tables are very limited, so you almost certainly need to book during the holiday season. Drink prices were a little higher than expected, though that may simply have been the ones we chose. Choice though was limited on this occasion. In any event, it would not prevent us visiting again, for this is a very unusual little find, which has significant charm.More

Upon arriving at Bonchurch, you are greeted by a bizarre and (I suppose) fairly kooky layout whereby the restaurant is split over multiple buildings around what looks like a courtyard area. Inside is cozy, and the service was fairly quick. However, the food, on the...other hand, was, for want of a more polite word, awful. I ordered a prawn linguine, and what arrived was linguine with (to be fair to them) a lot of prawns, but the whole thing was scattered with what seemed to be raw crushed garlic, and drizzled on top of it all was so much balsamic vinegar. My fellow diner opted for the 'life-changing lasagne'. I can say wholeheartedly, that it was definitely not life changing. My girlfriend ordered a garlic and chilli pizza, which also featured what must have been about 6 cloves worth of raw garlic scattered on top. I would not recommend this place unfortunately.More

Book early to get a reservation, even on a Monday evening. We had a variety of choices offered on the menu, each of us were delighted with the food quality, portions and the salads accompanying the main was excellent.

Delicious food and beer, chilled and friendly vibe. Known for it's frankly amazing lasagne, I can also highly recommend their vegan lasagne - best I've ever had.

It's on the side of the road but not busy outside the pub area as residential and no restrictions.

One of the previous reviewers mentions taking their dog in the restaurant, so I think the answer has to be yes.
