Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We stayed in September and wanted another overnight stay so this was top of our list so we booked again. Arrived just before 6 and checked into the room. Incredibly lucky with beautiful room 5 with a lovely sea view. The rooms are clean, perfectly...appointed and the bed is comfortable - the choice to put in King beds instead of just doubles was an excellent work! The pillows are so comfortable - I should have looked what they are because I really want these at home! The food was also delicious in the evening and a perfect poached egg for breakfast. If anything not perfect it was that I like my toast well cooked and this was only just crisp but not very brown - very personal thing but didn’t detract from another wonderful stay. Hopefully we’ll come for longer next time (and I want room 5 please!)More

Fantastic food. Really lovely staff. Fish and chips is like whale and chips! Everything was lovely and reasonably priced.

The roast beef dinner was lovely, with a great selection of vegetables. One waitress kindly moved us so that we could see the sea. A younger bar staff waitress was very off hand, almost non- communicative to the point of being rude. No smile and...definitely no manners. Very disappointed, especially as it was recommended by a local resident.More

Wow, what a find!! This place does amazing food and has the best staff with a great atmosphere. Our group had a number of food intolerances/allergies and all were catered for to perfection and nothing was too much trouble. Staff were fun, helpful and always...happy to help. Our daughter has an allergy to wheat and there were several gluten free options available but others had specific requirements (restricted diet and allergies to garlic and onion). All of the food whether straight from the menu or special request was absolutely delicious!! Music on Friday evening (Dave) brilliant fun and so talented. Thank you for looking after us so well. Highly recommended.More

Over the past six years we have enjoyed several enjoyable meals here. Perhaps it was just a one off, but yesterday's lunch was disappointing and not good value. I chose the "Jumbo Fish Finger baguette" at £10.50. The baguette was in two pieces but the...fish finger only filled about half of the baguette. Definitely not good value. My wife had a very good Mushroom soup, I wanted something more filling, but perhaps I should have chosen the soup. Not an experience as previously enjoyed.More

We arrived as a party of 10 on a Monday evening. There is a great selection of food available with something to tempt everyone in the party. The food was served very quickly, everything was brilliant, hot and very tasty. The staff were all very...welcoming and attentive.More

Googled a local fish restaurant and this one came up. As we were less than 2miles away it was the obvious choice. Specials board had a starter of king prawns in garlic sauce with crusty bread which was my selection at a cost of £8....My wife chose salmon chowder at £13 which was a main dish. To be fair, she enjoyed this although for the quantity it was overpriced in my opinion. Back to the king prawns etc. When it arrived in what appeared to be a pudding dish it was not what I expected! The king prawns were of the Tesco style and there were only 5 of them. The crusty bread was a well done toasted half slice of once crusty bread about 4 inches long in some very thin vaguely garlic sauce with the 5 little curly prawns rising on them. Oops, sorry I forgot the 6 leaves of cress for decoration! Perhaps I was expecting too much for £8 but at the very least the prawns could have been proper king prawns in an earthenware dish with a nice thick sauce and some crusty bread on the side! Bearing in mind the total bill was over £30 for the food as described plus one bottle of Diet Coke and one bottle of full fat Coke with a single rum in it I felt somewhat short changed.More

Excellent food. Particularly like the Vegetable pie, and the mash potatoes were Devine. Be warned, very generous portion sizes, we had to admit defeat.

Check in is easy at the bar, your then taken to your room. We booked a premium sea view and were taken to room 1 it’s a nice spacious and clean room. Bathroom floor around the toilet could do with an extra sweep as there...was some dust but otherwise everything was clean and tidy. The floorboards and door are very creaky but this is an old building so to be expected. You can hear some bar noise in this room on occasions but not enough to prevent our enjoyment. When we go again my preference is rooms 4 or 5 both have a sea view along with room 1. Breakfast is lovely with plenty of choice cooked fresh and included in the room rate. Staff go above and beyond. We were there to celebrate my husband’s 60th birthday and they kindly kept a cake I’d made in the cellar for us (had to be kept cool and dry) provided us with plates to eat the cake and helped to keep the get together a secret from my husband. Taking some of our guests around the houses to get them to they’re rooms without my husband seeing them. Thank you. The staff make this place, they’re all amazing. Check out at the bar quick and easy.More
