Received a voucher as a Christmas present which we needed to use by the end of February, and which could be used in one of three venues. One of us is a vegetarian and we checked the website menus to see who offered the most interesting vegetarian/vegan offering. Based on that we chose The Coach, but since the actual menu bore no resemblance to the one published online, that proved to be a waste of time.
Service was very slow. Five minutes to be seated, Another ten before our drinks order was taken. Easily half an hour before we had any food in front of us.
I want to caveat that by stating that the two members of staff were friendly and attentive, but stupidly overworked.
Food was good. I'm told the steak was excellent and my halloumi burger with honey dressing was as good as a vegeburger gets.
I think The Coach is a bit pricey. The bill for one starter, two mains, and two side dishes came to £90.
A beer costs £6.50 and is there any justification for charging £3.60 for one garlic mushroom when you're already paying £35 for the steak? I think not.
Would we return? Possibly, but it will not be our first choice in the area.

I have checked the menu on our website, and I do apologise that it wasn’t a true reflection of our current menu. Please be assured this has been passed onto our marketing manager. I’m sorry that you felt the service was on the slow side. As much as we don’t want our guests to feel rushed when they visit, we also don’t want them to feel forgotten, so I do apologise if that was the case on your visit.

I visited here with four girlfriends for the first time even though I only live around the corner!
First impressions were very good The front of house was really friendly and we had drinks on the garden before ordering dinner. The garden is lovely and it’s a shame the road noise is so loud although not much can be done about that !
It was burger night where they offer several different burger meals for £10.
Service was great very friendly. Pleasantly surprised by the food. I had Korean chicken burger which was absolute delicious and came with celeriac coleslaw and fries. I’m very fussy about my chips and they were lovely freshly cooked ( could have gone either with more but it was only £10 😂). We all enjoyed the food immensely. The belly pork burger and mac n cheese burger also looked great.
If I had to say a negative it would be the pricey drinks. At 9.70 for a glass of wine I felt that was a bit steep.
All in all a really lovely pub with a good menu and I look forward to visiting again

Arrived 5 minutes late, the manager Christian was more than accommodating and told us there is no problem and to have a drink and
Relax In the lounge area , took our order from there and called us 20 minutes Later When the starters
were ready.
All 3 Courses were superb the service again was first class and all staff members attentive without being over the top.
Cost wise the meal and all drinks for 4 people came to under £200 this included 3 courses each/ 2
Bottles Of wine and 2 drinks each
Prior to the meal, so excellent value especially considering the cost of most restaurants in either Deal or Sandwich ( the 2 closest towns) with the food up there with the best ones regardless…..
We will certainly go back without hesitation.

We have for various reasons always seemed to miss eating here until recently. It has always looked inviting and our visit on this occasions gave no reason to think otherwise . The service was good and the meals looked nice. We ordered toad in the hole as we had not seen it on menus very often . So we were quite disappointed when we were served bangers and mash with a separate Yorkshire pudding, not toad in the hole , the ingredients were correct but were not the dish advertised. A bit like Eric Morecombe , all the right notes , not necessarily in the right order .
The staff took my rejection of the dish well and did offer alternatives , but I declined, the moment had passed.
In fairness the place was quite full of others enjoying their meals so it was obviously doing something right

The bar staff were very attentive and we were seated quickly and efficiently. I had the prawns and my wife went for the hollumi and both were excellent. Mains were promptly served after the starters and the pork belly was cooked perfectly. All up very nice surroundings, great staff and wonderful food. We came hear several years ago before the revamp, and the standard across the board has risen massively. Well done to everyone here and we’ll definitely be back.

This steak night is an AMAZING deal! The steaks are great quality, meltingly tender, and OMG, you get two whole meals for the price of one, honestly, such good value for a weeknight-datenight! and actually a good selection of wines too. Will def be back.

We’ve been here a few times before as we’re local but never for Sunday Lunch before. Glad we did as the offering was excellent. My wife had the chicken which was nice and moist, I had the beef which was perfectly pink. Accompanied by a generous selection of veg which was just right for us and there was no waste (my pet hate with the oversized portions !)
Pudding was excellent too, good value for money and the girls serving were really prompt and polite.

A special evening out with family. The choice and quality of the food was excellent, across all our courses. We were served promptly with both pre-dinner drinks and our meals but never felt rushed. Staff were professional and efficient while also being personable and engaging. Highly recommended.

Overpriced and absolutely rubbish food. Nearly £17 for a dish of cool chips with nearly cold pulled pork on top with drizzle of sauce and teaspoon of slaw. Pork was so dried out was like chewing string

We visited on the strength of the festive menu, a booking was made and accepted online. Once seated we were told that the festive menu wasn’t available on Sundays (this the week before Christmas) and in any case they needed 5 days notice to “buy it in”.
We order off the standard Sunday menu in the end. The food was at best average with microwaved dishes of precooked vegetables that I thought we had left on the 80’s, badly cooked roast potatoes and frozen reheated Yorkshire puds.
The front of house here is great, it portrays a solid quality feel but the foods service simply isn’t good enough to justify the above average price range.
I suspect 3663 or Brakes make regular stops and deliveries of boil in the bag …

Thank you for taking the time to leave us your review & feedback. I’m sorry if it was not made clear to you when booking online that we don’t offer the festive menu on Sunday’s. I will speak with our social media manager about making this clearer for the future. Please be assured that our weekday menu, Sunday menu & festive menu is all prepared & made in house & cooked fresh to order. We do not use any microwave or boil in the bag products. We do ask for the festive menu to be pre ordered and sent back to us 2-3 days prior to the booking date to allow our chef’s time to order in any meat & fish etc they will need from our local suppliers. I’m sorry that you found your roasts on this occasion underwhelming. All feedback is taken onboard & will be passed onto our kitchen team, but I’m glad to hear that you received great service from our front of house team.

Our favourite place locally, we discovered this by chance one day and never resist an opportunity to visit when we can.
The whole design and feel of the place is so cosy yet chic, you just know you’re going to get something great.
The food has always been outstanding, from their steaks (even offering to order in a special cut for us on previous occasions) to their burgers to the puddings. Last nights trip was in search of the ravioli but we missed out (which shows how awesome it is!) but we both enjoyed what we had - the venison pie and Korean chicken and mushrooms on sourdough. We asked whether they could do as a side of pigs in blankets, and they went out of their way to ask chef to make us some and OMG…. If you are a fan of pigs then you are in for a treat!! Totally recommend.
Best thing about this place though is the staff. Without fail, every single time we come we get outstanding service, such warm hospitality from every single person. It’s a real pleasure to visit.
Other venues should really come and learn from the best, they’ve got this absolutely nailed - 5*, thank you!!!

Just called in for a drink but the new menu looked so appetising we had to eat. We had skate and the curry following a shared camembert and a cheeky order of onion rings, my partner said they were the best onion rings he's had in ages. Everything was beautifully presented and tasted amazing. Great range of drinks and the staff are simply lovely, attentive and accommodating. Definitely worth the visit

The atmosphere was very good and the food quality was excellent. We had the set meal being a main and sweet. But when the main meal arrived it was the size of a starter not what I expected to get for the price. To be honest I could have gone to Wetherspoons and not had the same quality but would have felt I had a meal and would have payed a quarter of the price

Our daily set lunch menu is priced at £15.50 for 2 courses, which does mean that portions on each dish are smaller than the other main meals on our main menu. We do serve the main menu alongside our set lunch menu in order to offer as much variety as possible & give customers new dishes to try as our set menu changes daily.

Service was good and friendly and the food tasted nice. I do feel though it was very expensive for what it was. The fish and chips was a nice piece of battered fish but the batter was quite hard and a fair bit of it got left. There were only about 6 or 7 thick triple cooked chips on the plate so not very generous with those. The lentils with the braised pork were nice but I wouldn’t have said had much of a Chinese 5 spice flavour to them as they were supposed to have. Even more so with this meal it was quite a small portion for £16.90 and I was still hungry afterwards but didn’t fancy paying another £7 for a desert that might end up being small too. So overall, good service from nice friendly staff. Food mostly good but not very good value for money. Typical Gastro pub overpriced because food is nicely presented.

Had I seen the Sunday menu before we booked I would not have chosen thus "Gastro pub" we had been here on many occasions before lockdown and had great food in the lovely child friendly garden. Sadly though the decor is beautiful (fantastic toilet) triple cooked chips are wedges and not many steak not tender, no steak knife, served with a wedge of lettuce, not very appealing!! Roast OK but so expensive for what you get. Drinks extortionate, £10 for pineapple and lemonade x2!! I was also charged £2
.30 for garlic butter which I don't remember seeing, ordering or tasting!!! Puddings at £9.50 each out of the question. Bill for 4 came to £103.00 ridiculous. Sorry but we just wanted a good pub lunch not haute cuisine

At this point, we hadn’t been serving main meals/Sunday roasts for very long & were in the process of ironing out the teething problems. Our desserts are priced at £7.20, apart from the Kentish cheeseboard which is priced at £9.50. Since your visit we have made changes to our Sunday roasts & the steak accompaniments.
It would be great to see you again, so you could see the changes.
