Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

Have stayed here previously. Love the location, spectacular sea views. Spacious, comfortable bedrooms. Always receive a warm welcome from Graham Stiles & his excellent team who are friendly, professional, helpful. Nothing is to much trouble. Good quality food & generous portions & a good choice of menu for breakfast lunch & dinner. The English breakfast was divine with local produce being served. The seating area outside is comfortable, pretty, overlooking the sea & very popular. Thank you Graham for your recommendations of where to visit & general local knowledge. Thanks also to Karen for looking after us so well

Every so often it is still possible to find a place to stay that exceeds all your expectations. Not often, but when it happens, you notice. Sick of being locked down for what has seemed like months during the Covid crisis, as soon as were free to travel, my wife and I headed for The KIng's Head for a 2 night stay. We had drunk in this pub only once before, and it had seemed so friendly and welcoming, we thought to stay when the chance offered. We were not disappointed. The welcomes were warm and genuinely friendly. The room was ready, spotlessly clean and overlooking the sea as requested. Dinner on the first night, chosen from a menu which changes daily was very good home made food. Portions are huge and well presented. and a sensible choice of wines from a well-defined list was a pleasure, instead of the tired old predictable lists which have not changed for years. A very comfortable night in a huge bed was followed the next morning with a great full English breakfast, with limitless toast and very well-made coffee. By now our expectations were being more than exceeded. I am a lover of English pubs, and this house is a classic example of the genre. Owned by Graham and Shirley, and staffed by a great team The King's Head is a genuine pleasure to visit. The food preparation is excellent, and is served efficiently. If you are thinking of staying in Deal for an English seaside experience, you will do very well if you can book a room here. Remember, this is first and foremost a pub, with very comfortable rooms. If you stay here, you will be very pleasantly rewarded by your choice.

We regularly eat here when we are in Deal. It is in a great position next to the sea, with outside seating and a pleasant interior. The food is always well cooked & there is a good range. they are also flexible to cope with fussy eaters. The staff are great. Last time we visited, I arranged for them to bring out a birthday cake for my grandsons, which they did, with a sparkler on the top and got all the people in the outside area to sing "Happy Birthday".

. Quick bite to eat for lunch, ordered two pints of larger, a lemonade, a sandwich (no salad with it just a sandwich) and a bowl of chips and a burger and chips, it cost £35. I know this is a lovely location but now i know why the fish and chip shop just up the road had such a long queue. I wish we had queued as by the time we had our chips the queue had gone.

We found that the food was of very average quality and certainly not worth the high prices charged. I was served a very small ploughmans and charged £10. I was charged nearly £30 for 2 beers and 2 meals and got quite a shock when presented with the bill. Pubs available in the area at much better value. This landlord certainly hasn't passed any of the 15% vat reduction

Had lunch this week, girlfriend looked forward to having calamari. Parked up got a table outside which was busy. NO calamari 'hasn't been delivered ' order breaded houlomi and buttermilk chicken strips to start. 2 Hamburgers and 1 Chicken burger main. Chicken stripes were plenty and tasted good, houlomi seemed over breaded and some didn't have much cheese. That's through over cooking when the cheese leaks out in the deep fryer (ive done it myself using brake bros). Chicken burger was good, my mother liked her burger but I didnt really. Its the way the burgers made. I thought it a bit expensive too, but.... its the first time out in months and the pubs have had it hard so im probably being picky. Think I was hoping for fresh or local catch. The service was great and fast.

I have been here before and enjoyed my food but I went there yesterday for lunch with a bunch of ladies and I had "catch of the day". I was last to be served and when it finally arrived after a very long wait it looked ok but after one mouthful the texture was not right, too soft so I thought undercooked- then realised it was coldish inside so my guess is my long wait was because they were trying to defrost it. That night I had griping pains and a very bad stomach. At the time the young waiter asked if I wanted to speak to the landlord after I complained it was not cooked properly and cold inside, I declined as I didnt want to make a fuss but after a bad night i wish I had spoken to landlord

We booked a table on the recommendation of friends who live in Deal, and we are very glad we did. Being National Pie Week there were several speciality pies on offer, and we all had pie / chips / veg covered in lovely thick gravy. The pies were delicious and the portions generous (the special offer price of £12.50 even included a glass of wine!) When we return to Deal in the summer, we'll know exactly where to head for dinner....

We visited on a quiet Weds evening in November, the place was fairly busy. The barmaid was more interested in talking to the locals about her ironwork than serving us. The menu is modest and we did get our pie order in eventually, trying the steak ale and vegetarian pies. They arrived as shortcrust pies on a (small) bed of mash accompanied by nicely cooked fresh veg. The gravy was really tasty. All in all a nice meal for a reasonable price.

It was a busy Sunday and it was chaotic behind the bar as the staff tried to serve customers but were constantly repeating food orders to the kitchen. We did order food and it arrived promptly with no complaints. The pub next door is under the same ownership and have a different menu. So worth checking what’s available and at which pub! We had 3 meals from one pub and a carvery from the other! Surprisingly it worked out for us and the food was good! Tables were quickly cleared and with the good weather, there is always people waiting for a free table, so maybe not the place to chill on a busy day.

We had a family get together - 11 of us for Sunday lunch. The staff were very welcoming and efficient in order taking and serving the dishes. Unfortunately a lot of the food was less impressive. The pan fried squid appeared to have been pre-cooked and then cooked again as the colour of the pieces varied between light and very dark brown. The roast lamb was delicious but the roast been and cottage pie beef was very tough and chewy. A shame because there's a great atmosphere in the pub. Maybe there were just too many orders.

We booked to eat on a busy Saturday night, and were surprised to find the kitchen closed very early. When we got there at 8:30 pm we found the table we were supposed to have in use, and we were seated under a TV that was showing some sport that lots of people in the bar were watching. Not exactly what we were hoping for as a group out for good fun and conversation. No one gave us menus and we nearly missed being able to eat at all, eventually finding menus ourselves. The food was definitely what was left at end of the day, and we ended up with poor food. I think the pub is nice for drinking, but I would be highly cautious if you were think ing of eating here, especially late in the day.

Have lived in Deal for 29 years and the Kings Head has been and is the heartbeat of this wonderful town. From the warmth of the wecome to the excellent food coupled with the safe environment reflects well on the professional and exprienced approach of Graham the landlord of this pub for the last 40 years. Glass of house red please!

We booked a table at The Kings Head on recommendation from a friend who lives nearby. We were not disappointed. The menu was fab and the staff were accommodating to my family’s needs. We felt safe and secure with all the right measures in place post-lockdown. Highly recommend and we will be returning.

Had a reasonable meal here, service was friendly and efficient and our meals were okay. We sat outside as all the tables inside were reserved. The outside terrace is in a great position, on the seafront with lovely views and there were patio heaters which were welcome as the evening was a bit chilly. Menu was typical pub food, burgers, chilli, fish pie etc., none of them wowed us to be honest, although the starters, grilled halloumi, whitebait and squid were tasty, better than the mains really. More a place to go to enjoy the atmosphere and the views rather than the food itself.
