Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

During our first year in Walmer/Deal we visited RouteOne sometimes several times a week we got to know the staff well. We always ordered their cheese and tomato toasties which were lovely and a Peroni beer or two and loved the view and great position to people watch. On numerous occasions we started to enjoy their ice cream cone at £2.25 it was worth the money particularly the honeycomb. However on a visit in September a man served us with no eye contacted I looked at the ice cream cone and asked where is the ice cream you couldn’t even see it above the cone. This happened again a couple of weeks ago we thought we would try it for ice cream again I know it’s the winter but I like ice cream all year round .We have tried contacting the manager/owner but have no reply. At the moment we have no wish to go back I feel you have to get value for money and good service.

Right on the beach and with plenty of outside seating as well as a few tables indoors when rules allow, we stopped by for tubs of delicious ice cream as a rest stop along a promenade stroll. Quality product and generous scoops, and there were lots of takers for coffee and snacks while we were there. If the weather is good, it's a real winner.

We stopped for a coffee in this small cafe, right by the sea. It is in a lovely spot, could have sat there for hours. People at the next table were eating very large moorish looking sandwiches so we will give them a try in the future.

If I could give 0 stars I would! With a limited amount of time remaining on our parking my wife and I unfortunately decided to have a coffee at Route One. As we sat at a table outside we were noticed by the person taking orders. After a period of approximately 10 minutes without the reappearance of said person, I went inside the establishment to order 2 coffees. I was told if I was sat outside it was table service only; as I left to go back outside a couple entered and sat at an inside table. Within a couple of minutes they were approached for their order and we had now been waiting approx. 15 minutes. I again went inside and for some time was ignored until I was again abruptly told that it was table service only and to go back outside someone would be with us shortly. At this same time a couple had walked into the cafe, bought drinks and seated themselves next to us! After a further period of time, which meant at this time we had been waiting for 20 minutes or more, the person who had originally told me it was table service only, came to take our order. I said it was too late for us to order now as our car parking was about to expire which was met with the comment "OK"... I pointed out that we had been waiting 20 minutes which was met with the response "well you could have come inside to order!" I angrily responded that I had done, twice, to be interrupted by being told to stop shouting. I repeated my comment in a whisper to her. We then got up to leave and said we would report our experience on Trip Advisor. This did not seem to bother her as her response was, "I take it we won't be seeing you again." This establishment/staff they employ have obviously never heard of customer relations, as at no time was any apology offered or humility shown. Clearly staffing was an issue, but an apology would have obviated much of this.

I have just bought an orange gin with lemonade, and been given lemon gin with tonic. When asking to have it changed, I was told “no it was definitely orange.” And they refused to change it for me. My friend before me ordered lemon gin, and they tasted the exact same. Unimpressed and really let down that the staff would not pour me a new drink. Won’t be returning. The orange gin they use, makes drinks go bright orange. My drink was white.

Luckily, the weather has been great this week in Deal and to sit and watch the sea with an outside space is great .
The cafe had a singer of some talent sitting outside the doors of the cafe which added to the atmosphere .
However , really disappointed with the price if a250 ml glass of wine at £7.50 or more .
Service was good so decided on a coffee instead !

Visited 3 times in 1 day, we were in the beach, had take away drinks then went for lunch and later in the afternoon had ice creams on each occasion the staff could not have been more helpful and friendly, not serving you but engaging in conversation.
Food was lovely and great value.
Keep up the great work

‘Moody Manager’ this is a great little place to stop with brilliant staff, the manager should take a leaf out of her staffs friendliness and pleasant attitude.
When I asked one of the waitresses if the manager is usually a misery guts, she replied only when they’re busy! She must be in the wrong industry.

What initially seemed like merely a convenient place to stop for a cuppa, emerged as a bit of a find. A really fine pot of tea, lovely cake, and sandwiches well above the average - including a cheese and ham toastie to die for. All with a lovely sea view and bright, cheerful service.

I was cycling past and decided to get a takeaway coffee. The doors and serving hatch were open and two staff were in there. The lady wouldn't serve because they were not open for 15 minutes. I heard the man say the coffee machine was ready. The woman folded her arms and stood her ground. She would obviously rather stand there doing nothing than make some money.

Just had a really great bacon baguette washed down by a latte at RouteOne on the prom. The food his great 👍 staff are very friendly and the service is good. The are wonderful you can see the sea and the pier. Lovely place to stop and eat chill and watch the world go by. Plenty of social distancing as well.

I have reviewed hundreds of establishments and I know this is someone’s business and hate to give one blob reviews. We’ve been here two or three times. With friends here recently for a jug of Pimms. Was absolutely fine.
This time I think owner/ management wasn’t around. Sat at a table enjoying the views. Waited and waited for table to be cleaned. Then asked someone to do so. Just walked past but to be fair a possibility she didn’t hear. No menus nor was table wiped within twenty minutes so left.
On leaving peeked in. All four girls having a good chin wag. Another table also left. Needs active management. Obviously if owners are saying not making any/enough money I can confidently say that this is due to rubbish staff. Avoid.

Really great place in Deal. Good coffee and selection of cakes. Excellent location right on the beach seawall just a short stroll to the pier. Friendly staff and now a cafe of choice when we go to Deal.

What a great cafe, although advertised as a cycle cafe this cafe is definitely for everyone. A warm welcome for us and our dog. Customers meeting for coffee, a general feeling of relaxation. The food although basic was great and the service friendly and helpful. And thank you for spotting the bag that we left behind, and coming after us with it.
