Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Beautiful and cosy pub with all it’s natural history. The new owners have done a fabulous job at keeping it as a pub with a large bar area but also serving honest, very good food in an inviting dining room. Patrick’s food is legendary …...can’t wait to go back!More

If you were told you were going to visit a 300-year-old pub at the end of the loveliest road in Faversham, the Anchor is what you'd hope for. Lovely pints, beautiful pub, cosy fire, excellent food and a very warm and friendly welcome.

Beer was OK, baguette passable but the nachos were VILE. Nacho chips covered in what can only be described as 'green tasteless gunk', tiny amount of what looked like tomato sauce, 3 jalopeno slices and all topped of with tasteless HOT CHEESE SAUCE. ABSOLUTELY VILE.

We gave the anchor a second visit since the new management took over. The new barmaid who joined today could not have been more lovely! Excellent, friendly service. Lovey rosé wine. Good quality pint of Whitstable bay, poured beautifully. Well done guys. Keep up the...good work! Nice to see food back on the menu. The baguettes looked delicious. We shall be back in to try the food soon.More

Used to go here on a regular basis , popped in for a welcoming pint on Saturday with my wife ( we thought) the most miserable landlady who was not in the slightest welcoming to us , a real atmosphere of zero, it felt like...a pub dieing on its feet, Last sad throws of life absolutely freezing inside, no fires on even though it was 6 degrees outside, only one draught beer bitter on out of 8 pumps, drunk up and went to the elephant with warm cozy log fires, 6 real ales always on. Won't be going back to the anchor anytime soonMore

We had a lunch here a rarebit open sandwich when it arrived we started to eat it but was luke warm when asked told the barmaid who said she would tell chef nothing was offered or done I brought it up when paying the bill...so they gave us for half price. I should of sent back ! I was disappointed in "chef" part owner of pub, as he should make sure food is "pipping hot" when leaving the kitchen !!! He would not like to have luke warm food either His partner female apologised I will think twice if we?go & eat there again Advice : "Chef" check yr food when it leaves the kitchenMore

Tasty food, friendly staff, dog friendly, good beer. Nice sunny beer garden with shade if needed. Free two hour parking 30 seconds away. Bar and restaurant seating filling up nicely by 6.30pm; always a good sign. We'll be back

Lovely family meal to celebrate a birthday. I enjoyed the best pub fish and chips I have ever had. The Biscoff cheesecake was to die for! Can’t recommend this pub highly enough.

Dropped in on a Saturday as they opened and we were made to feel very welcome and had nice chat with the owner/staff about our last visit (pre-COVID19) We ordered the Scotch egg as a shared starter as we both remember how big this thing...was and wow, it was stunning, with runny egg on a bed of salad. My partner ordered the Seafood Chowder and me the burger and both were delicious and apart from my partner, who is not a big eater, nothing was left. Hats off to you all in the Anchor for delivering great food, great banter and all at a great price. See you all soon.More

Stopped by with friends for lunch while exploring the town. Very welcoming staff and good food. We had various sandwiches and chilli nachos between us and all the dishes were well presented and tasty. Being so close to the Shepherd Neame Brewery I had to...accompany lunch with a local beer!More

Booked a table for 3 people by phone a few days in advance and mentioned we had a dog with us. Whoever took the call said the dog wasn't a problem as they are a dog friendly pub so we reserved a table for 1.45pm....The was no mention we would have to sit somewhere different as we had a dog with us. We went in through the main entrance and there was no obvious place to let someone know we were there so asked someone who had just taken out some food to people and we were told she can't help she just works in the Kitchen. We then wondered into the restaurant where what appeared to be the booking register was and spoke to a young lady there who couldn't be less bothered to help and we were left just waiting. We waited until someone else appeared and said we had booked a table, but she didnt ask our name and told us to just wait near the bar and she would come and get us. Few mins went by and she came over and although we had seen three tables with a reserved sign on them we were ushered into the bar area and the women just pointed at a long table with wooden stools on one side and a window box bench much higher than the table the other side and were told quite bluntly to sit there because we have a dog. There was no reserved sign on this table and it had been set for a large group of 6 or 7!! we wondered if this table was meant for us. We didn't understand why when we had reserved a table we were just told to sit here when clearly other tables in the pub section had also been reserved as there were reserved signs on them. We sat down and were very uncomfortable, could not get anyone else's attention to ask to be moved and after 5 mins being ignored we got up and left. Whoever is running this place needs to train the staff better, manners and some customer skills would have been nice. Over the years we have eaten in lots of pubs in Faversham and this was most certainly the most unfriendly and unwelcoming place we have set foot in. Glad we left as we rediscovered another pub in Oare that was 100% better, really friendly and offered fantastic service.More
