Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Thoroughly enjoyed a recent visit to The Bear Inn. Well kept cask ale including the seasonal offering, although only two on at a time which was a little surprising. A good lunch selection, very pleasant environment and friendly and helpful staff. Toilets small and could...do with some modernisation. Recommended!More

It would be a much better pub if it was dog friendly and didn’t have people like lyn Hayward in there .We are in a world now where dogs are a huge part of families life’s if kept on a lead and under control like...you do children then cannot see why it’s a problemMore

Lovely food, friendly service and great ambience. I particularly love the steak pudding and the fruit crumble. The stained glass in the doors is gorgeous.

Great Sunday roast. We booked a table earlier on same day and it was ready for us when we arrived slightly early. The pub was full, so I would definitely recommend booking. The food was lovey and with great portion sizes I could not quite...finish my dessert! They checked about allergies and gave us extra gravy. Very good value for money and a great historical pub. Would definitely revisit if in the area again. Thanks for a great lunch.More

Absolutely LOVE this pub , always great staff and service, NOT so yesterday. Popped in for a drink at 12.10, all tables reserved, but lovely tall young barman, seeing one of us was on crutches said table behind was booked for 1.30. Great so we...agreed to leave by 1.20. 12.50 went to order a 2nd drink, older barman says we have to give up table at 1pm, we said we knew it was booked for 1.30, But he wasn't having any of it, said they will probably come in for 1pm and we had to vacate. SO DISSAPOINTED, 1st day out following new hip, sad for it to be ruined by a barman who had no regard for his staff or us.More

Fabulously run pub. Excellent british pub grub. If you want a traditional home cooked wholesome English meal, go no further. Always welcoming. Outside seating in the beautiful historic market square when the sun shines. Cosy open fire in the rear saloon when you need warking...up!More

Small, intimate restaurant with great food at a reasonable price. This place is so good that we go regularly. It's an old pub with gorgeous stained glass in the doors inside and a tiny snug.
