Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Absolutely LOVE this pub , always great staff and service, NOT so yesterday. Popped in for a drink at 12.10, all tables reserved, but lovely tall young barman, seeing one of us was on crutches said table behind was booked for 1.30. Great so we...agreed to leave by 1.20. 12.50 went to order a 2nd drink, older barman says we have to give up table at 1pm, we said we knew it was booked for 1.30, But he wasn't having any of it, said they will probably come in for 1pm and we had to vacate. SO DISSAPOINTED, 1st day out following new hip, sad for it to be ruined by a barman who had no regard for his staff or us.More

Fabulously run pub. Excellent british pub grub. If you want a traditional home cooked wholesome English meal, go no further. Always welcoming. Outside seating in the beautiful historic market square when the sun shines. Cosy open fire in the rear saloon when you need warking...up!More

Small, intimate restaurant with great food at a reasonable price. This place is so good that we go regularly. It's an old pub with gorgeous stained glass in the doors inside and a tiny snug.

Landlord very friendly and efficient. My thanks go to the lovely chef for making sure I had a delicious meal even though I am allergic to shellfish. Can recommend the steak and ale suet pudding, delicious. We will definitely be back.

Life doesn't get much better than when you go down to your favourite pub, The Bear in Faversham and find they've put mussels on their specials board Saturday lunchtime! Possibly the best mussels I've eaten. This pub feels like family, not management. Outdoor seating in...the beautiful market square. Wonderful home cooked food.More

Very warm welcome, great selection of beers on offer and a pleasant outside seating area. Great place to relax and watch the world go by (weather permitting - which it did for us).

Good food and friendly service, although I preferred the previous menu - bring back the steak pudding and the whitebait starter!

6 of us had lunch here recently and we were all absolutely delighted with the food, service, surroundings and, last but not least, the very reasonable prices. If we lived slightly nearer we would definitely eat here more often. We have already recommended The Bear...to several friends as we are confident they won't be disappointedMore

We visited The Bear for lunch - a couple, 9 year old and mother in law - so a mixed bag but we had the best experience... Lovely table in the corner was reserved for us and the staff were very welcoming from the start....They adapted the adult ploughman's to a 'medium' size (which was still huge) for our 9 yr old (though there is already a really good kids menu to choose from) and arranged for it to come while the adults had starters. Hearty and delicious fare all round, brilliant and attentive service and very, very good value. The pub also has a really interesting history with documentation and old photos on the wall as well as ye olde knick knacks as decor - which I enjoyed looking at. The layout is really unusual too, again steeped in history. We'll be back. And I highly recommend any visitors to Faversham drop in for a pint at least!More

I met up with two gentlemen I served in the Army with. We had our wives with us and a reserved table. From the moment we arrived the landlord and his staff made us feel very welcome and could not do enough for use. We...all enjoyed the meal which was professionally presented, well cooked and a good portion. The drinks were excellent and fairly price, something I have grown to expect in a Shepherd Neame pub. Well done to all the staff at the Bear in Faversham and thank you for making our little reunion all the better. We will be backMore

My fiance and I stopped by for a light lunch as we had planned a large dinner that evening. We managed to get a table in the snug bar. It was very cosy and comfortable. We were served by Jo, who was so friendly and...welcoming and we felt completely at home. I had meatballs in a tomato sauce with crusty bread on the side. It was delicious and really good value at under £6. My fiance had a jacket potato with prawn cocktail and a side salad. The prawn topping was very generous. I had a couple of glasses of excellent Rioja, really good value. A lovely lunch and we could happily have spent the whole afternoon there.More
