Very good and not average is down to the service received. However we had the Sunday roast and left disappointed. The meat was passable but the vegetables ; roast potatoes hard from reheating, parsnips undercooked and the sides so obviously microwaved. I know it is...hard to get a good quality Sunday lunch out but have had better.More

Wanted to take the time out to say, although this pub looks a little tired on the outside the food is absolutely delicious and we would highly recommend. It’s beautiful inside and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Thank you very much for a...great lunch.More

Came back to the Red Lion last night for my birthday celebration and was not disappointed. The pub always has a lovely atmosphere and is so clean and well kept. We had a table of 9 and sampled most starters and 8 mains and there...was not a complaint from anyone. The portions are just right, the food is beautifully presented, hot and very tasty. Whether it was the crusty pies packed with filling or the flavourful madras or lime chicken, it was all great. We are a discerning bunch with 2 qualified chefs in our midst and so can be very picky. This has to be about the eighth time I have dined here and It is always delicious. None of us need gluten free but you wouldn’t know it was anyway. I love that for some eating out, this frees up their choices. The service is also excellent, friendly efficient staff who just add to the experience and I gather the beer was good too. We also had a pleasant surprise when paying the bill as it wasn’t nearly as expensive as expected. What more do you need? Can’t recommend enough and our thanks to Lisa, Paul and team for a truly lovely evening. 😊😊More

Great find for our boy who we wanted to feel comfortable in ordering anything off the menu for a change! The server was kind and patience with him as he was nervous, understandably, about what he was going to get! We all ordered various different...meals and all tried each others! Couldn’t have been able to tell you it was GF! Brilliant! And the boy thoroughly enjoyed his bacon cheeseburger and chips along with his first ever onion rings! Fab time and he’s already asked when we’re going next! 😂🤷‍♂️More

The pub was full up on the day we booked which is always a good sign. The menu was excellent for Sunday lunch, particularly catering for someone with a nut allergy and another with a milk allergy. Excellent staff and a relaxed warm atmosphere. Well...presented and reasonably priced foodMore

It’s incredible that this is one of the only entirely gluten free (pub) restaurants in Kent. You would never know though. The food is very tasty and the menu selection is very pub appropriate and nothing too pretentious. The main advantage is the peace of...mind in knowing that the whole place is gluten free if you or someone in your family is coeliac. Other than that, although the outside of the pub is somewhat unremarkable, the inside is very cosy. Service was friendly and the cost was where it should be in my opinion. It was nice to see the place busy and buzzing with a nice atmosphere on Mother’s Day. Will absolutely be going again.More

Another fantastic Sunday lunch. Shared the fishcake starter and then a fantastic beef for myself and the chicken supreme for Lisa. Lisa had the cheesecake for dessert and I had the sticky toffee pudding. Everything cooked to perfection with great service from all the team....My Lisa is coeliac and its just great to go somewhere that she doesn't have to worry about mistakes being made.More

Great gluten free menu (which suits my partner) but this in no way detracts from the food which I always enjoy too. We have had meals here ranging from 1st class Sunday Roasts, through weekday lunches and specialised meals for Chinese New Year.

Dedicated gluten free, Coeliac UK approved. Excellent range of vegetarian and vegan options too. Just bliss to be able to choose anything and know you won't get glutened. Some old reviews mention the landlord. I think there must have been a change in management, all...the staff were friendly and accommodating. We went for Sunday lunch. Definitely recommend booking in advance.More

This pub is perfect for a relaxed night out. The food is excellent (although currently awaiting more pies) and it has a cozy atmosphere. The staff are friendly and there are board games to use , which we did! Reasonably priced as well.

We have a hand rail at the front of the building with 4 steps. We also access from the patio. But there is one steep step into the pub. Hopefully that helps. Please call the pub on 01233740309 if you need any further help... More
