Reasonable local pub which serves decent pizzas. Menu routinely missing this and that and I’d certainly not order anything too ‘fancy’. But the service is so slow as to make the whole experience an absolute misery. This is not new and is entirely due to...a lack of staff. Ideally 24/7 Abba would also cease. Please please sort it out.More

This is a lovely place to stay. The staff are so friendly and welcoming. We stayed in the suite and it was beautiful. Very spacious with a comfy bed and lovely complimentary toiletries. The food was excellent for both dinner and breakfast. Highly recommend a...stay here.More

We had heard good things about this recently refurbished gastropub now owned by Hush. The food was very good but as an experience it was extremely underwhelming. The bar and dining area is dull to the point of resembling a Travelodge in Basingstoke. A few...scattered historic photos on the wall. The inevitable faux retro furniture. Nothing to make it memorable or reflective of it locale. Strangely in these times, there is no table service in the extensive outdoor seating area. The staff were pleasant but again did not make it special. We recently went to the new Birchwood restaurant in nearby Flimwell which could show Hush how it’s done.More

We were a family party, starters were ok, then a rediculous wait of over an hour! for the mains. The quality of which varied considerably with one constant, namely that all the potato dishes tasted reheated and as such not pleasant. In different circumstances there...would have been complaint but in this company unfortunately it was inappropriate. I had my doubts when my relative booked here as I have always found the food quality to be unreliable. Will not try again.More

This was the first time we have been back to The Goudhurst Inn since before lockdown, and a very pleasing return it was. With friends, we went for lunch and we all thought that it was very good. We were warmly welcomed on arrival and...quickly shown to our table by the friendly staff. Our drinks order was taken quickly and efficiently and served without delay. My wife is Gluten Free but this did not cause any problem because there was a separate Gluten Free menu with a good choice of meals (plus, all pizzas can be made with a Gluten Free base). Two of us had lamb, one hake and I had the beef burger. All the meals were well presented and the food was delicious, especially the lamb. It was Six Nations Day and a large screen display was available. We feared that this might intrude on our enjoyment but it didn't. Well done to all and we will be back.More

The food was good, without being outstanding, we had one dinner and two breakfasts over our two night stay. Our room was small and a bit noisy with the traffic, but that can't be helped. What could be helped was the cable and satellite TV,...which wasn't working at all; the phone didn't work; the illuminated mirror in the bathroom didn't work; the waste bin hadn't been emptied since the last guest; there was one breakfast teabag (our favorite) between two of us, with no teaspoon. It didn't get off to a good start when the two young girls took over 15 minutes to book us in, when we had made, and paid for, a booking through Hotels.com. We actually left them to it after 15 minutes, as we needed to get changed for dinner, they really couldn't operate the inefficient management system in place. They kept my card whilst we got ready, and charged me again for our stay, which I finally had refunded 5 days later. I emailed the manager, as suggested, the following and got no reply, so I rang the next day and finally spoke to a lady who knew what to do. Overall, disappointing, we won't be going there again.More

We were a party of four and all of us had appetizers, main courses and desserts. The experience did not match the recent favourable comment. While the quality of the appetizers was appealing, the presentation lacked sophistication. Alas, the main course, Cod Loin, which was...chosen by all four of us, really let us down. The fish was very dry - rather than juicy - no help from the hardly noticeable lobster bisque mentioned on the menu - the Potatoes Boulangère came in the shape of a cut slice of dry "cake" that was hardly penetrable with a fork. Yes, traditionally, one can reheat this dish and serve it a day or more later, but here the result was not at all enjoyable. Tell-tale sign: two of us returned our plates unfinished. Why serve edamame beans, this foreign vegetable which is quoted as harmful to your thyroid functioning? Next time, we shall stick to pizza . . .More

We have been regulars at place with its pleasant outdoor garden and terrace since 5 years, except that we had not gone there when Covid got worse. Most times we went there for their outstanding pizza. So we did also last Thursday (13 Jan 2022)....Yet, when we looked at their new menu we were surprised by its novelty and ambitious descriptions of the new dishes. So we ordered two appetizers and said let's have the pizza afterward. I chose the Scallops Celeriac and Apple Purée and my sweetheart the ballotine of chicken, black pudding and maple (syrup). Both were delicate and perfect. Our curiosity had now been increased, leading us to choose two more dishes (and cancelling the pizza): Vodka and Beetroot Cured Salmon as well as the Sticky Maple, Soy and Sesame Pork Belly (both fulfilling their poetic description - and expectation). Since the demise of Michelin-rated APICIUS in Cranbrook some years ago, we now have a new culinary achievement we can enjoy over anything else in the area surrounding Tunbridge Wells. The next surprise was that now ALL wines - even the high priced ones - are now available by the GLASS. We discovered a superb Barolo ROSSI from our favourite Barolo commune SERRALUNGA. After trying a glass each, we ordered a whole bottle. Remarkable service by waitress Lia who always appeared quickly after motioning, even when she was further away near the bar. The superb quality of the dishes deserves table cloths and white plates (instead of brown earthenware). Now we are looking ahead to exploring further the creations of the new chef!!More

Been here before it wasn’t great then but thought we should give it another go as it’s convenient for us being in our village. I would not recommend this place for food! The waitress did not seem too impressed when we asked for a drinks...menu, felt like we was putting her out! Our starters were rubbish, I ordered fish and chips it was cold and looked like it had been sitting on the side for hours, waitress had terrible attitude when I mentioned this! The children all left there chips they were Rock solid! The place wasn’t even busy. Terrible service and food! Such a shame as this is our local pub :(More

This was my first visit. The Inn is well presented throughout. The food was my personal favourite part of the experience and exceeded all of my expectations. What really set this establishment apart was the warm and accommodating staff. They really go all out to...look after their customers. The chiefs seem to be very well trained. No micowaved ready meals here for sure. I'll definitely be back for another delicious meal soon. Thanks for a lovely afternoon. 10/10.More
