Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Customer service was very poor. Considering there is time limit on each reservation, we had to wait for 15 minutes to get seated, then when we finally managed to get someone to take our order, we was told that our dish will take 45-50 minutes...to cook. We ordered cote de boeuf , as per menu it should have come with unlimited accompaniments. And it’s on a sharing menu, meaning there should be enough for 2!They don’t know meaning of unlimited. We had one dish with vegetables and potatoes. There wasn’t enough for two. And when we asked if we can have some more, we were told chef doesn’t approve , and it’s not how it works?!! Really?! So why would you put unlimited on the menu??Meat was lovely cooked and whatever vegetables we managed to get , were amazing. Only once we were approached by the waiter, to take our order! That’s it, once they dumped the food in front of us, no one came to check if we needed any sauces , if the food was ok or if we needed more drinks . Non existent customer service. And please Google ‘unlimited’ or get a dictionary !More

Our local tennis club decided to have the Goudhurst Inn provide pizzas for a total of 70 people at an event we were holding in the village. From the first communication to the follow up after the event I have to say how impressed we...were with the level of service provided. The pizzas arrived nice and hot and were enjoyed by the attendees. Am pleased to compliment Brent (Head Chef) and his team at the GI and would definitely recommend them for a one off pizza or for managing outside catering. Thanks guys. Great job!More

My parents, sister and I were coming back home to the edge of North London from my uncles funeral that day in my sister’s Tesla car. Unfortunately it had a fault and suddenly the remaining electricity available dropped dramatically and we had to find a...Tesla charging point very quickly. The one we found wasn’t working and we were running out of mileage and the nearest charging station listed in the car was Canary Wharf and we were just south of Tunbridge Wells. Thinking at least my sister would have to stay the night in Goundhurst while the rest of us got a cab home we went to the Inn for a meal and ask if they knew where locally we could go. Not only did we have a delicious meal but the manager went with my sister to a nearby Tesla charging station in her car (couldn’t find the right charger as her car is old and she forgot her adapter) but also found a company who could tow the car to a Tesla service garage in North London and a cab to take us home as we had to get back that night for various reasons. We wouldn’t fault them as they went out of their way and beyond for us. Highly recommended.More

Nice pub, food was OK but vary small portions. The service however ... Some of the staff were a little quite rude, one man in particular and we were made to feel as though we had to leave the minute we had finished our meal...and considering this was a Saturday night at around 9.30pm this was a bit of a shock. I wouldn't recommend.More

Having not visited in a few years and being local we were looking for somewhere to have a Sunday roast and so glad we chose to go to the Goudhurst Inn. Roast Beef was cooked perfectly, great selection of veg, good roast potatoes and cauliflower...cheese! Plenty of food for us all and will definitely visit again.More

The full breakfast was excellent - one of my favourite breakfast places. The chef has added white pudding and Irish soda bread to the menu - really tasty and unusual to get white pudding here in Kent. The staff are great, especially Erin!

Visited for my wife’s birthday. Room was amazing, staff incredible (head chef even gave us a lift to their winery!) and the food superb. They cannot do enough to make you feel at home. They even spoilt our dog!! Absolutely superb two days and we...will definitely be coming back. Do not pass up the chance of visiting the Goudhurst Inn.More

The Goudhurst Inn is set back slightly from a busy road with a reasonable sized car park which will fill up quickly at busy times. Ample seating both inside and out and a nice garden. A good range of beers and lagers, Jakes being very...local and Harvey’s of Lewes as my preferred bitter. Very hot during our visit but decided to have a pizza. Staff very good and attentive.More

Was really hoping with new management and a new chef our local pub would be better. We had not been in for over a year and live around the corner and decided to give it another try. It is better in many ways especially with...staff changes meaning there is a better atmosphere but unfortunately my son’s pizza was undercooked with raw dough. Our other 2 meals were ok. The problem was, when I mentioned the raw pizza to one of the employees there was no acknowledgement, just a nod of the head and then no further mention of the issue. Such a shame. Will not be returningMore

Visited here after visiting the winery and so glad we did. The food was great and the service excellent but informal which was ideal. The fish and chips was one of the best I have had and will be looking to return soon even though...it is by no means local for us.More

I give the place two stars for the stunning location and some of the staff being welcoming but I will never, ever come back here. I ordered a nut roast which left a whole lot to be desired; this place evidently cares about aesthetics over...substance. I had an alcohol free beer (which I left most of because I just wanted to leave sooner) and the most disappointing nut roast I have ever had. The nut roast fillet being delicious but tiny was my first gripe, but then the parsnips were overcooked and burnt, and there was barely any gravy on the plate. The nut roast fillet had a the slightest bit of gravy on top of it, and it seemed as though the greens had just been dipped in gravy and put on the plate? Despite the menu stating that cauliflower cheese comes with every roast, mine did not arrive; when I called the waitress to the table to ask about this, she stayed a distance away from me leaving me almost shouting across the garden at her to ask for it. To their credit, I did get a cauliflower cheese in the end, but it was very undercooked and most of my (stingy) meal was gone by the time it arrived, so I barely ate any of it. At no point during the meal did ANYONE ask if our food was okay, they only asked after payment was made and barely offered an apology when we said it wasn’t. My food here was bought for me but I still felt robbed (don’t even get me started on the extortionate cost of £21 for a Ploughman’s Lunch). Avoid.More

The food is always great however there was a private party where they had a private party with a singer that made the pub way to loud with no pre warning for the booking. Realistic not enough staff to cope and this is the second...occasion where the poor staff have been over worked. On our last trip we had to actually help clear tables as the staff just couldn’t cope. I genuinely feel sorry for the team as they are great but never enough to cope.More
