First time in there the two waitresses were amazing and competent always checking, not a long wait for food or even the drink. Definitely coming back.

Food overall was good , well cooked to a good standard with fresh flavours and not oily, resembles more of an Indian than Nepalese. Portions are small, it seems a common theme these days to not include enough chicken or lamb in the dishes, 6...pieces is NOT enough, 8-10 pieces is a fair amount. Lamb Madras was very nice but not hot at all, a ‘mild Madras’?!! When I first started eating Indian food 40 years ago the average curry would be spicy and a Madras very hot indeed but nowadays our palates are catered for with tepid heat and sweetish sauce. Chicken dish excellent from their specials but small at around £14! The other reason why I’m giving it an average rating is that the prices are very high about 15-20% too expensive than London for a similar restaurant which I cannot understand. The two vegetable sides nearly £5 each and small, a little mean. I would probably go back if there was nowhere else to eat, but there are much better Nepalese restaurants in Folkestone and Cheriton. Staff were nice and friendlyMore

Lovely welcome from the lovely Annie. Who then continued to be the perfect host all evening. The food here is fabulous. Missed starter was definitely a hit with my husband. The Irish coffees at the end were perfectly made too. Thank you fir a lovely...evening. See you again soon. ❤️More

The restaurant was busy so service was a bit patchy . The food was tasty enough but beware of very small portions. Poppadums were charged for and the accompanying dips were miniscule, a selection of 3 tiny containers between 4 people. Many Indian restaurants provide...complimentary poppadums. Main courses at around £15 for chicken or lamb and rice at £4.50 or more is not value for money with very small portions. My husband left hungry and cooked himself an omelette and chips when we got home.More

Excellent Kathmandu special curry with a lovely Naan and pilau rice enjoyed by both of us. I particularly liked the beer specially labelled for the Taste of Katmandhu restaurant.

To be honest I really don't have words for our dining experience here. Firstly on arrival there were no smiles. When we were seated the windows next to our table were drafty and damp. There was chewing gum stuck under the table and the place just needs...a total refit. Besides all this we were hoping for the best meal but how wrong we were when the food came out....so disappointing.Bland, greasy and obviously just bulk cooked and heated up.Very expensive too.Sorry Kathmandu but it's a big " No " from us and would we return "Not a chance ".More

After a previous visit last year which was superb this early December visit was shocking and if I had been head of our group would have declined to pay for what was a very poor meal or not meal so bad that one of our...group left before suffering anymore. All was wrong, the messed up number of starters, the bland tasting curry, the cost and all done with hardly any customer care.More

What a great place, we have been going to this restaurant for a while now and the food and service never disappoints. The quality of food is very good, and good sized portions. Annie & Ava are very charming young ladies who are very attentive...and polite, and balance their engagement with professionalism. We have been here before and had great service and food. It was because of this previous experience that we returned when we had family and friends visiting. We ordered different curries but we may as well have ordered the one type. Hardly any difference...in taste and too sweet. Additionally, hardly any meat and small servings. I don’t expect great big bowls but if the potion sizes are shrinking then the quality surely must be top notch and not just a lentil base. We had ordered / different types of chicken curry, - x lamb and 1 x dhal but I reiterate hardly any meat. I asked one of our guests what she thought and she said it hadn’t been great. I know things are costing more and because of this we don’t find out as much as we used to but we would have probably had a better take out leak from a supermarket. Harsh but true.More

I have tried this restaurant and Everest in the High St. and I have to say I do prefer the Kathmandu because the food is less pretentious and lower in cost. I am surprised that prices in this area are much higher in some cases...than in London, which is surprising when you consider that the rents and other costs like staff are lower, notwithstanding the fact that food costs are up everywhere. My friends had the Nepalese options which I tried a little of and were delicious. I had an Indian spiced lamb madras which was excellent, very tender lamb and nice and hot. Everything else is good as well and also they have spicy poppadoms!More

Really disappointed with our visit tonight, we’ve been numerous times before but admittedly first time this year. The young waitress was abrupt, poppadoms didn’t taste fresh and we had to wait ages to pay the bill yet it wasn’t busy, food was ok but but...it’s the whole experience you expect.More
