What can you say about a roast dinner that had inedible beef?! Really haven’t got any more to say….
Where do I start. Revolting, probably the worst meal and experience we have ever had the misfortune to encounter. Firstly, the overpowering smell of Dog hits you as you enter... Hair, and filth... We were shown to our table by what must have been the...chef..filthy clothes and the most rank dirty feet I have ever seen. I didn't want to stay, but was persuaded to by my family. I wish I hadn't... The food was Luke warm, tasteless and looked microwaved to the point of oblivion. So very expensive for drinks, which were the best thing about this place. I take objection to a large dog running around, and then when caught, tied up inside. We had to step over the poor unfortunate thing to get to the garden. I would AVOID this pub at all costs... Smelly, unclean, rank food and a food pub totally ruined from the fine place it was on my last visit to Hythe. Be warned,it is not an experience you will rely sh!More
Had to go to hearing clinic in Hythe, popped in after, as I have previously, but £6.40 is a bit much for a pint ! And a massive increase since my last visit , friendly but that's too expensive
Went for dinner last Saturday evening, what a mistake. We initially thought the pub was shut as the door was almost closed with a chair blocking the entrance - turns out this was to stop their dog escaping. The restaurant was completely empty - we...should have taken this as a red flag. We sat down and ordered our drinks and food (1 x pad thai and 1 x burgers and chips). The music then started blaring out of the speakers. It was turned down when we asked, but we were also told to move to a different table away from the speakers. A short while later a couple and their grandchild joined us in the restaurant and we got chatting. Our food arrived and it was only what I can describe as bland. The burger looked extremely cheap, as did the bun it was in and the chips not crispy. As for the coleslaw, I have never seen such a sloppy mess. Not only did the whole meal look unappealing, but it tasted unappetising. The pad thai wasn't too bad, but I left half of it and wouldn't bother again. When the little girls (about 3 years old) was asked if she was enjoying her dinner, she said it was ''not up to scratch and disgusting' - out of the mouth of babes, eh!! She was correct though and we will never return, nor will her grandparents. If you can't cook a decent burger & chips and scampi & chips you really shouldn't be in business. Really wish we had got a sandwich from the local Waitrose instead.More
Walked in for a drink, only a few people dining, weird atmosphere. Staff were more worried about playing with their dog then talking to customers. Bar maid not overly friendly. Lady that I think may have been owner just stood there watching the bar maid,...made it feel very awkward. The place was a bit shabby. I wouldn't return for a drink let alone eat there !!More
Visited with the idea of booking sunday roast. Ordered a drink with an unfriendly lady at the bar and enquired about dinner. After drinking our drinks sensing a lack of friendliness we decided not to book and return for dinner. Went somewhere else locally instead,...perhaps the roast would have been nice but the unfriendly welcome meant we went elsewhere.More
Avoid disappointment and go elsewhere until you see consistent good reviews on here. We used to come here last year until it's opening times became inconsistent. I think it has been taken over recently. We thought we'd give it a go on a Wednesday as...the kitchen is closed Mondays and Tuesdays. The food was poor quality and the service was atrocious. The waitress could be heard having coughing fits and coughed all over our table and food as she was bringing it out. A gent from the kitchen could be heard telling customers that he was 2 staff down and didn't have certain food items because the kitchen isn't open Monday or Tuesday so he cooks it on a Wednesday fresh........ .......it was 1 o'clock in the afternoon, I wonder what time he must start? Don't ignore forever, just wait til they get their act together.More
Went today for a treat, what a disappointment. Sat at a table and waited so long, went to the bar for a drink . Waitress sitting on the floor, playing with the dog. Bar full of dirty glasses, but stupidly still sat down. Finally took...our order for food and brought cutlery. Handles wrapped in serviette, but the tops uncovered and touching the table After waiting another half hour, went to bar to pay for drinks we'd finished. Gave us £10.20 all in change, from £20 note! clearly done deliberately. Must have left them without any change for other customers. Used ladies in the meantime, the hand dryer broken and a very dirty, wet towel beneath it. Used toilet paper to dry my hands. Left without food and went elsewhere and needless to say won't be returning, ever!More
After having had a really good Sunday Lunch a few weeks ago we decided to try the Thai food offered on the menu. We had three different starters and three different main dishes and they were all freshly made and absolutely spot on, the portions...very very generous and the bottle of wine very good and fairly priced. Katy looked after us very well and was quite knowledgeable about gluten free diet and nothing was too much trouble for her, we will most definitely be visiting again soon and would recommend anyone wanting a cosy pub with a good atmosphere and good food to support this recently reopened business, especially in the current situation many high street businesses are facing. Let’s keep local small businesses in business!More
Went with daughter for a meal .Table was dirty ,waitress busy talking to another table gave up waiting ordered drinks at bar ,Finally given menu ordered Cheesey pasta bake with salad and chips ,daughter had Nachos and chips ,was given someone else's meals to start...with ,did get ours cheesy bake very bland ,hardly as described as golden brown.,more like anaemic.Nachos were cheap tortilla that were like rubber ,far too spicy ,not good at all .Waitress spent more time playing with someone's dog than serving. Needless to say will no way be going back .More

Wow came here for New Year’s Day meal and drink with friends such generous portions, great atmosphere of local community, highly recommended food delicious and a Thai menu I need to come back and try
We booked for New Year’s Eve , however when we arrived we were disappointed to see the pub was virtually empty. There was no music and the lights were shining bright giving it an immediate lack of atmosphere. We had pre-booked a specific table but...that too was already occupied. When we were eventually seated we found the kitchen tea towels being dried over the open fire guard next to us and empty boxes and rubbish stacked against the wall. The menu looked interesting which is why we chose to book here, but the food served was very disappointed and completely lacked lustre. The garlic mushrooms, which were supposed to be served with crusty bread, came with a slice of dry white bread from a sliced loaf. The ribs were clearly precooked but were very greasy/fatty. The lamb shank was very small and served with wilted, blackened carrots and cabbage and no evidence of any garlic in the mash nor mint gravy! We gave feedback on the disappointing meal as at £19.95 per plate, we felt a little short changed, but were met with a pretty standard response that our feedback would be shared with the chef. We never heard anything more. As a result of the poor atmosphere and poor service , we took the decision to curtail the evening earlier than planned (we were hoping to see the new year in there) , We approached the bar to pay our bill , where we reiterated our concerns regarding the quality of the food but we were told the chef was unavailable and the lady proprietor seemed either unable or unwilling to handle the matter personally. This pub is under new management and as such we thought we would support them on what we hoped would be a good night … sadly they did not meet the mark and we will not be returning to support this local business.More
Four of us had Sunday lunch. The food and service were good. The pub was very quiet, which was just as well as there was only one young lad on bar/serving duty. The Sunday roasts were good, although there was no menu - you had...to ask if they did Sunday lunch. The Shepherd Neame Masterbrew ran out after one pint. There were no J2O soft drinks, and no Prosecco. There was no toilet paper in the Ladies. I expect to find the pub permanently closed today. Certainly our impression was that they were running down the stocks of everything just prior to finally shutting down. A pity, because we have enjoyed evening meals there in the past.More
I also thought would give the pub a try as hadn’t been in there for a couple of years and wish we hadn’t! Couldn’t believe when I ordered that 2 of the meals were for just £15.00, chicken curry and Lasagne! Curry was bland and...I think cooked from frozen as chicken was very shreddy! Lasagne lacked meat and was very oily, garlic bread was inedible. Friend had sausages and mash which she said was excellent let down by veg which was just green beans not cooked. Chips also were excellent though one portion came out when meals were nearly finished. We did explain all of this to Jack who apologised but did not offer any recompense! He was on a 12hour shift and having to work the bar and run out the food. Butt of Sherry and Brittania in Seabrook by far superior and I would rather pay the extra and get a decent meal.More
