Sunday lunch delivered

I would just like to thank Olbys for such a wonderful sunday lunch & dessert. I had the lamb which was amazing, I couldn't fault the amount of meat, potatoes, veg, Yorkshire, gravy n mint sauce followed by apple pie n custard. Value for money, only draw back I did have to wait 30 mins from when I wanted it but appreciated they were extremely busy at these unprecedented times. Well done & keep it up, I will be ordering again x

WOW!!! A must do , if visiting or living in and around Kent . A team of staff knocking it outta of the park . If you've got SOUL , then go feed it at Olbys , where my friends , family & I are bless to enjoy often ... As we love this one stop brand of a nightlife or The Sunday " Best Roast " in Kent , getting hungry just writing this well deserved shout out!!!! " keep up the great Work " XO

Best roast in town

Great Sunday Roast! We’re regulars at Olbys for Sunday lunch. What can I say? The spiced pork is to die for - great value for money, great team who always make you feel welcome. I’d recommend Olbys for value for money and friendliness - great relaxed service and tasty food. Thanks to Heather and the team!!

Good, but could be better.

We went for Sunday lunch after it was recommended by friends. The staff were very pleasant and service was fine, the cafe was quite busy. I had a roast lamb lunch, which is what i came for. My lunch was served on a very large plate with lots of vegetables & roast potatoes, the lamb was plentiful and well cooked. If the chef /cook did three small things, it would transform the lunch to another level. Put a bit of cheese sauce on the cauliflower. Provide home made Yorkshire puddings. Put the gravy through a sieve or chonicle strainer.

Gorgeous Sunday Roast

The best Sunday roast I’ve had in a long time! I had the beef with 5 roast potatoes and mashed potatoes as well ( don’t usually like mash but seasoned and very tasty) a Yorkshire pudding and 5 veg (broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, green beans, cabbage) all cooked perfectly as was the beef. They offered extra gravy for those that wanted. I finished off with strawberry cheesecake and ice cream which tasted like homemade. It was a really lovely meal and we will definitely be going there again.

Excellent Sunday lunch

Our first visit here, having heard good accounts. We went for Sunday lunch, reputedly 'the best roast on the coast'. I have to say it really was excellent. I had the lamb roast (£12.50) which was huge and very tender meat and a lot of vegetables cooked to perfection. Along with this, lovely accommodating staff, frequently asking if there was anything else we needed. Good service and food. We didn't have room for desert! Highly recommend.

Delicious Sunday Roast

We booked our Sunday roast at Olby’s since we’ve loved the atmosphere during the Margate Soul Festival and being in Margate earlier this year and no festival how could we not visit? The welcome was warm, the music soulful and the food was delicious. We both had the roast lamb with at least 5 different veg portions, mash and roast potatoes! As my boyfriend said “it was a roast not to be scoffed at but to be totally scoffed” washed down with Cabernet Sauvignon it was second to none. The dessert list was extensive, quite old school and very welcome - jam sponge, chocolate sponge, treacle tart, sticky toffee pudding to mention but a few and some lovely carrot cake which we shared. The staff are great, very welcoming and friendly too! Well worth a visit if you’re in Margate - we’ll be back to Olby’s during the festival in 2022 for sure!

Best Sunday roast ever. This was our first time ordering a delivery from Olby’s soul cafe. We have previously eaten at the restaurant and the food is absolutely amazing. Ordering was simple quick and easy and it was delivered in the time frame stated. The rib eye beef was cooked to perfection and the calipso chicken was amazing. Absolutely huge portion sizes, so much meat, veg and roast potatoes and even arrived with horseradish. 100% recommended and the delivery was easy especially during lockdown. Will definitely be ordering again and can’t wait to book the restaurant once they re open. Thank you Olby’s

Shambles …

We were on holiday in the area and saw on TA that this place does excellent Sunday lunches, so I called them up and tried to book a table. The lady I spoke to said they don’t take phone bookings, she couldn’t see the booking system and told me to use the website online system. So I did. I submitted the Form and got an automated acknowledgment. I heard nothing back. On the morning of our booking I rang the restaurant and politely enquired if they could accommodate us for lunch … the same lady said “hold on, I’ll check” and she came back saying they were fully booked! Half an hour before my requested booking, I got an email confirming they were full. What a complete shambles of a booking system.

Fabulous food

Visited with my husband en route to a show at Margate Winter Gardens… the service was excellent and food was absolutely amazing - so tasty and reasonably priced. The jerk chicken burger was simply divine and the ribs so succulent they fell off the bone. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Olby’s, you should visit…..you don’t know what you are missing! :)

Love family run place

The service was very good, friendly and professional. We were served by the son of the owner who obviously takes pride in his family’s business. It was a quiet night as it’s off-season, but still a warm atmosphere All the food was delicious, but special shouts out to the blackened garlic prawns and the most heavenly sticky toffee pudding I have ever experienced. .

It’s A Must …

What can I say. After seeing this restaurant featured on TV, my family & I decided “let’s try it out” They don’t take bookings over the phone, you book on their website/hub. We managed to get a booking for Easter Sunday, and this “family run business” is/are lovely. The décor is quaint - soulful indeed. The food from the starters, to main (Sunday Roast) to dessert, is plentiful; there is no way, you are leaving, hungry absolutely “not” The staff are friendly and attentive to your needs. I love the Soulful music playing softly in the background; some good tunes. Ambiance is great. Price was very reasonable. Will we visit Olby’s in Margate - most definitely 😊

Time suck vegan fail

A long 45 minutes wait for a simple vegan falafel & beetroot salad and chips - and the salad came out with dairy cheese all over it. Sent back, refunded but ultimately no lunch for me. A really awful experience.

Once again we visited Olbys in Margate for a Sunday Roast and they did not disappoint. This is probably the 6th or 7th time we have now been, and every time it is consistent. The food and the service are just second to none! If you have not been you MUST (booking is a must as they are always booked out a few weeks in advance, thats says all you need to know). The portion size is very generous making the dinner great value for money, and the flavours are spot on! The team are fantastic too, always smiling, so friendly and nothing is too much. We are always made to feel so welcome. This dinner definitely deserves the hashtag bestroastonthecoast!

Superb food and outstanding service.

My partner and I had a wonderful dinner at Olby’s. We’d never been to a soul food restaurant before but it was really exceptional. We had the jerk chicken salad and the coconut chicken, accompanied with a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc. Portions were very generous and absolutely delicious! We were served by 2 welcoming waiters who helped us with our order and were happy to answer any questions we had about the restaurant and food. The best restaurant we’ve been to in a long time. Couldn’t recommend enough!!
