I have wanted to try this venue for ages as having read about its Ethos, of local sourcing of ingredients, it intrigued me and I do love ethical and quirky and as it was my birthday weekend and Husband had sorted Dinners and activities, I...decided that I would arrange this. I booked online and when we arrived the lady that greeted us was friendly and welcoming. We were shown upstairs and although there were several tables free we were shown to the Front of the bus and a small wooden counter top style arrangement which was our apparently our table. My husband is 6ft and there was very little leg room even I at 5ft 2ins had to sit sideways as at knee level there was an obstruction to my sitting comfortably. I was surprised that we were not offered another table as other diners that took those tables did not arrive for 45 mins or so. I did not want to start my birthday weekend off my having a negative experience which would have caused an argument between my husband and I as he only agreed to come to humour me as it was my choice of what he calls typical of me and "Quirky Arty Farty". Having said all that the Coffee was ok, a little disappointing I thought, it smelled great but was quite weak, I had read how good it was and perhaps expected more. Husband had the Hangover Breakfast and I had the Sourdough Sausage sandwich. They mistakenly brought me the wrong thing to begin with so both husband and I ate our breakfasts seperately. My husband really enjoyed his breakfast which I think surprised him, his one quibble was that the GF sausage was a bit tasteless. My sausage sandwich was good the sauce on the Sausages made a difference for me, but unfortunately I felt I was rushing it a bit because my husband had almost finished his breakfast by the time I got mine. Generally speaking the food was very good, Quirky it is and a good view, However, if I had known where we would be seated and how uncomfortable it would be I would not have booked. Also it is worth noting there is no toilet available, you have to walk to the Train station crossing a main road or sneak into a local pub or hotel, which is not ideal.
To summarise: Food Good, lots of options and it is a really Quirky venue with a great view, but for the reasons above I would not go again.More
