About
Angela’s is a small neighbourhood restaurant with an uncomplicated philosophy. We aim to serve delicious, ethically sourced seafood alongside simple, seasonal vegetable-based dishes.
We will always endeavour to be sustainable, both in our ingredients and our everyday practices, and work with the local community to specifically reduce the amount of waste we produce that might otherwise end up in landfill.
We have partnered with the wonderful Windmill Community Gardens in Margate to turn our food waste directly into compost – in our own composting machine – to enable them to produce more of our raw and organic ingredients....closing the loop.
We will always consider our people and our planet first, working directly with growers, fishermen and suppliers who understand how to make the most of their produce and at the same time minimise the impact on our environment.

This was our fourth visit since Angela's opened a few years back. I can't recommend it strongly enough.
There is a real focus on flavour and getting the best out of locally sourced seafood. Prices are very reasonable for the high quality of the food and that attention to the provenance of the ingredients. When you add on top service that is always welcoming and knowledgeable and a cosy atmosphere it becomes a very special place indeed.
It must be one of the best, if not the best, restaurant in Margate.

We visited Angela's last saturday and stopped for lunch. The seafood was very appetizing indeed. The oysters were so incredibly fresh,it was like they had just been harvested from the sea in the morning.I wish I had eaten more than just 3:)
I had sea bass for mains and a nice local lager to wash the meal down with. The sea bass was tasty as well and service from the restaurant was good.
All my friends who also ordered where happy with their seafood dishes as well.
We initially got a little confused by the VAT appearing on our receipt, but this was already incorporated into the cost of the dishes, rather than being added as an additional extra.
They do add a discretionary 10% service charge on to the receipt, but we were happy to pay the tip, given the quality of the food.

We absolutely loved everything about Angela's and I'm so glad that I booked well in advance. The service was attentive and really knowledgeable about both the wines and food, the atmosphere was cosy and congenial and the cooking was stellar. The English natural wine from Davenport's that was recommended was a lovely change for us and went brilliantly with the fairly light dishes that we chose. Grilled mackerel and celeriac remoulade was perfectly paired and really well cooked and our cod with mussels and clams was delicious. Can't wait to go back on our next Margate trip!

This review is based on my own experience. I'm not the kind of guy who usually writes reviews, but this time, I really felt the necessity to write one.
If you’re visiting Margate and don't want to feel scammed, avoid to go to Angela’s restaurant. We were there trusting the huge amount of positive reviews. The establishment standard is not what you expect from a fancy place and the service is comparable to a street food stall, but what they are selling you is a “gourmet” cuisine. They probably don’t know that you cannot run a gourmet restaurant while at the same time offering a service typical from a chippy restaurant.
Where do I start. They let us wait for more than 2 hours for a table, which was expected after all the positive reviews we've read. “If it is so full, it must be delightful!”, we said. Oh dear, we were completely wrong. After the waiting, the only table that was available for us was a wobbly table outside right in the sidewalk (it was very windy that day btw), and although there was an available table inside, they didn't give it to us, because it was booked, they said (well, we did book as well, didn’t we?). There wasn't any printed menu available for customers. So, they brought us two ruined blackboards that were hanged inside (one for the food, one for the drinks) and suggested us to take a picture of them (wow, that must be really a gourmet restaurant).
To start with, we ordered 'smoked praws', which weren't cooked, peeled, or cleaned. The taste was so bland I was thinking that I was eating the prawns directly from the grocery. When we poured the tap water they provided us, the water seemed not clear (unsure if it was the water, the bottle, or the glasses provided). After that, we decided not to risk with the ‘mains’ and we just asked for the bill. They also had the audacity to include in the bill the service charge; not sure if it was more because of the "take a picture of the menu", the water/glass that wasn't clean, or the terrible table.
At the end, we felt scammed, angry, and hungry, and we ended up eating elsewhere. What an awful experience, definitely not recommended. Save your money and time.

The food was exquisite. Though the whole appearance, service (not offering even a printed menu and what was written on the board was hand written and not readable) was that of a trattoria.
After having two appetisers and two mains and one side dish, we left the restaurant hungry, paying too much for what we received. Another thing is if in the name of the dish is mentioned: fish and clams. Then I’d expect more than 5 clams in the dish. Mentioned the ingredient in the name means that this is the one of the protagonists of the dish, cannot treat it as a decoration.

Had a really good dinner in this small and friendly place. The chalkboard menu is varied, the kitchen visible and the staff cheerful and friendly. My starter of mussels was as simple as it should be, generous and delicious. My main of Turbot was again simply cooked, but a good portion and with a tasty sauce. The sides of roast potatoes and cabbage were well cooked and properly seasoned - but not sure that the cabbage was a fitting side with the fish - but a small quibble. The cheese selection was good and more than enough for two to share. Drinking wine by the glass meant that the bill for two came to just over £50 each - a bargain given the quality of the fish and the general atmosphere. Hope to have a chance to do it again.

Visited for lunch in March.Had a set lunch of brandade starter and whole roast plaice as main.
Brandade was great as was the little appetizer of a taramasalta cracker but the plaice was poor.It wasn't a whole place but a portion, maybe a quarter and was mushy, either undercooked or hadn't been rested long enough.
Service was great and the atmosphere was chirpy but the cooking skills or portion control were just not good enough on this occasion

First impressions – this place is tiny – despite its location in the tourist heart of Margate this is essentially a neighbourhood restaurant, albeit one probably aimed at the well-healed visitor. Given its rather diminutive size you are recommended to book in advance. I was lucky to get the outdoor table to myself, although I don’t know why they made me wait half an hour for it considering no one was at that table.
It appears that the menu changes regularly which is always a good sign. In fact the menu is on a large blackboard which one of the waiters brought out for me – he must get fed up of doing that for everyone! He was keen to recommend the Skate and indeed that looked good but I opted for the Red Mullet instead. Now you’re never going to get much Red Mullet for your £, that’s just a fact of life but in this instance be warned that the dish was probably at least 70% vegetables. In any case it was presented marvelously. My personal preference is for the Red Mullet to be a bit tougher in terms of texture but that might not be to everyone’s taste. Before that I had the Fish Soup which had a wonderful texture although it might have benefited from being a bit richer – the addition of oysters into the ingredients would see to that, although of course then it would have to be ‘seafood soup’ rather than ‘fish soup’! There’s no doubt that the accompanying bread was too soft – for a soup it should be on the crusty side instead. The seemingly seafood infused butter with that was excellent though. The Mulberry Ice Cream was probably the pick of what I had on the menu – an interesting flavour that really deserves to be more popular and the ice cream itself was clearly artisanal.
Overall considering this restaurant has a Michelin star I was expecting something just a bit better – yes, as per such high-end restaurants they did serve me a free little nibble ‘from the chef’ – some sort of Skate pate on a crusty wafer – it was actually really quite good. I found the service to be mixed – they did a very good job at explaining the menu to me but after my desert they just seemed to forget about me. Price wise this is clearly at more at fully paid up Metropolitan Urban Elites such as myself so for me it seemed a fair price for this type and standard of cuisine but I can imagine the locals might baulk at the prices – well at least it gives them something to aspire to!

Had a wonderful evening last night. The staff were friendly and it was lovely getting to know our fellow diners in a small dining room. Yes the wine was expensive. But the food was AMAZING. I find I can get nervous eating out as a bonafide coeliac but then staff were very thorough and reassuring about making sure my food was absolutely gluten free. I ate the best fish soup ever and then the monkfish in smoked paprika sauce with sides of potatoes and greens. Felt totally stuffed and thoroughly enjoyed my evening.

Had lunch here today with a friend, was one of the loveliest meals I have had in a long time. Scallops were cooked to perfection Andy main of Turbot out of this world, accompanied by some very nice wine and a shared chocolate cake for dessert , I left feeling like I had had a treat. Definitely worth the visit.

Well we got lucky, I messed up the booking and booked it on the wrong day. Only realised by mistake when they phoned me....but the the kind people put us on a waiting for the correct (next day)......
This is the second time we've eaten here, and oh boy how they turn out such great food from the tiny kitchen is anyones guess. The food is very tasty and well portioned. Mussels that were cooked to perfection and succulent and very tasty followed by the lovely piece of turbot with beautiful mushrooms for me, and scallops and then hake for my wife. Everything was cooked with care and attention, with the very best made from all ingreditents.
The service was perfect, polite and knowledgeable and nothing too much trouble.
We really cannot fault this restaurant and long may it continue. We will be back, hopefully i'll manage not to confuse myself over booking dates again!

We booked in advance for dinner on a sunny but windy day evening in Margate. The fish is so fresh, perfectly cooked and delicious. The lovely waiting staff explained the dishes and recommended the wine. The desserts , especially the plum sorbet were amazing. A really relaxing and chilled restaurant with sustainability at its heart. We loved the tables made from recycled plastic. Booking is recommended as we saw quite a few people turned away. Looking forward to going back and visiting it’s sister restaurant Dory’s too.

Just popped in for a quick lunch as we were running late for an appointment. We were given a warm welcome and the dishes that could be prepared quickly were suggested. We both had the smoked prawn and leek tart. The pastry was delicious as was the filling. It was served with a lovely side salad. Just what we needed. Please support this restaurant as they really deserve to thrive. Will definitely visit again when we have more time.

We did enjoy the fish; oysters, prawns and turbot were tasty and the staff were very friendly.
We were seated in a small room at the back which was a little dingy and difficult not to hear the conversations of others. Toilets were outside and and not great. Not a lot of value to be had on the menu and the wine list was expensive

I’m not one for writing reviews but feel compelled having had a lovely dinner at Angela’s tonight. Went with my best friend. Nice touch to have some small bottles of anti bac hand spray on each table. Whitstable Rock Oysters to kick things off. The squid starter was lovely & the mussels were really fresh too. For mains we both had lobster... it was my first time of having lobster & it was amazing! Useful to have some sourdough bread on the side. Staff friendly & knowledgeable. It would have been nice to be able to reserve a table to sit outside but can not guarantee the weather when booking in advance, so understandable this space is used for walk ins (weather dependent). Yes it is slightly more expensive than some restaurants however you can’t beat the quality & well worth it as a treat.
