So pleased to have found this pub today!! We are camping nearby and I saw the good reviews for here so thought we would drive out to it for drinks. Immediately we knew it was a real gem of a pub... beautifully presented and the CLEANEST we have ever been in! A well thought out system in place for COVID (the best we have seen in any pub since pubs opened again), and it’s explained in a friendly and welcoming way. The people who run this pub have everything just right! Great play area, simple but all 4 kids were fully entertained (aged between 6 and 11), generous child sized portions of the standard menu and ice lollies/ice creams offered for their dessert. We were so relaxed that we had to order lots of food! Although the specials were tempting, (the John Dory sounded superb) we would recommend the ploughman’s and the burgers from the main menu - off the scale delicious and such good value for money - even without the ‘eat out’ scheme we felt it was very reasonably priced for such lovely food. Thanks Rose and Crown team for being the highlight of our little camping trip! 😊

We dropped into the Rose & Crown for a midweek lunch. This place is popular with the local community and no wonder as we were met with a warm welcome and the food was great value for money. We shared the Pork & Chorizo Scotch Egg, the wife then had the Chicken Curry, and I had the Halloumi & Grilled Pineapple Burger. Very generous portions, good value and friendly country pub service!

Just enjoyed a fabulous lunch, beautifully cooked moules marinaire, followed by a cracking ploughmans with some of the best cheese i've had. The family had courgette flower (delicious) to start then fish and chips and roast beef. Absolutely lovely, and the changes to comply with covid were very reassuring. One way system lots of outside tables and along with the Mundy Bois Militia HQ ( very funny Dermot) hand sanitiser and saw lots of cleaning going on. the extra garden space at the front looked so inviting.
This was a cracking afternoon following lock down and we'll be back very soon. Thank you x

Such a wonderful evening had by all last night at the Rose & Crown I don't know where to start. Respectful and well planned out covid control, really decked out the garden area to still make it comfortable and a nice area to sit even if the weather isn't up to scratch. As soon as you walk through the door the staff are polite and welcoming. Looking at a below review regarding the landlord, we too are regulars and have never received anything other a warm welcome and excellent service from all. Now let's get down to the food, one word... exceptional, the presentation, portions and above all the taste all 10/10 the chef certainly knows his stuff. We had a party of 6 and there was not one grumble (certainly not from our stomachs) as everything was perfect. Would definitely recommend the steak or any specials they have on I had venison steak (a special) and every bite was mouth watering.
Needless to say we'll be back very soon. Thank you Dermot, Lisa, Kim and all the staff for such a fantastic evening.

Had heard great things about this pub and it's clearly very popular. Busy Sunday evening on a B/Hol weekend and good covid restrictions in place. Very poor BBQ food; bland burger, cold falafel burger but chef helpfully cooked it properly when we asked him to and added some salad that one might have expected to have had anyway

Great way to show off Kentish ingredients and pub atmosphere to visiting friends down from London - accommodating, personable service; in a stylishly quirky setting.
The Moule Marinere was delicious and the special of Venison steak was cooked perfectly.
We shall definitely return to eat, and to say hello to Dermot and the team!

Wow just enjoyed a fabulous takeaway for the family. All of us so enthused that i'm writing this pretty much after we devoured it. Despite challenges you'd expect from a pub providing takeaway in boxes it was beautifully presented. Absolutely delicious, generous portions and all the quality i've come to expect from the Rose and Crown. Thanks guys. xxxx

I may visit for a drink... never on a Sunday when it’s heaving and the staff are overwhelmed.
Both food and service were dreadful. It took almost and hour to place the order. Then the food arrived some 30-40 min later and it was a total disappointment. Tartare sauce was a bowl of Mayo with one slice of gherkin! It sums it up

Called into the Rose & Crown when overnighting locally, prior to crossing the Channel tunnel. We arrived on a Sunday evening and there was an inviting open log fire in the dog friendly bar. We received a very warm and polite welcome from the bar staff. We opted from the Sunday roast which is also on the Sunday evening menu and it was delicious. The bar had 3 real ales on tap for real ale drinkers and a good selection of lagers and beers.
Don't miss the Rose and Crown fin the area, you won't be disappointed

We arrived to a really warm welcome and was shown to our table. Lovely atmosphere inside with two very tasty glasses of red wine. Our orders were taken and our food arrived in good time. Sunday Lunch can be a bit hit and miss as some pubs think they can get away with the basics.. Yorkshire Pudding, few roast potatoes and a bit of beef and they’ve five their bit. This is not the case with the Rose & Crown! I cannot say enough how tasty our Sunday lunches were. Absolutely gorgeous. I’ve forwarded the pin link to 3 peoples today who all live within 30 minutes and I wouldn’t do this unless I was 100% satisfied with the quality of the food and the great service. Thank you. We’ll be back many times. Clive Parry

Unfortunately it wasn’t as good as we hoped from the reviews. My steak was over cooked and by the time I’d received another one which was cooked perfectly this time my wife had finished her meal. It did might it a little awkward. Cannot fault the waitress one bit, she was lovely, apologetic and also so busy due to staff shortage. Maybe we just caught them on a bad day. Our desserts were comped for the inconvenience. Which was very nice of them.

Home cooked and freshly prepared food. We booked here for an early dinner on Sunday. The food was excellent. My wife had the mince and onion pie and I had the burger. The flavour of the burger was beautiful and not dry. The pie was a proper shortcrust pastry pie not a stew with a pasty lid cokes separately as in other establishments. We both had starters too.
I had the cheeseboard; 3 cheeses with plenty biscuits etc. I couldn’t finish it and took the cheddar home.
They don’t have a children’s menu but will do a smaller portion of the main menu. 💕💕

We went at lunchtime on a Sunday without a booking and there were 10 of us. It was sunny and we wanted to sit in their lovely garden. It was very busy, but the service was friendly and efficient and the food was great. We all had light lunches rather than roasts (which looked fantastic), and all enjoyed our various dishes. And they served 2 delicious real ales. A very happy bunch!

From arrival to departure outstanding.
Welcomed by the bar team and directed to our table, with drinks ordered and promptly delivered. The service was nothing short of exceptional. Very friendly throughout, couldn't do more for us. We joked about taking the gravy home (best gravy ever), and we were promptly provided with a pot of gravy to take home. The food was great quality pub food. The only comment would be the size of the portions was on the large side. The opening quote is from my Dad (he's 70 and doesn't do computers!) Will go back for sure, well worth the trip out.

I had the pleasure of dining at this amazing restaurant/pub today with my family, (12 of us, all age groups) and I must say, the experience was nothing short of outstanding. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by friendly and attentive staff who made sure every aspect of our dining experience was taken care of. The food was absolutely incredible - each dish was a masterpiece, prepared with the freshest ingredients and bursting with flavors that danced on our taste buds. The service was first class, with every detail attended to and every need met. I can't wait to come back and experience this wonderful restaurant pub again!
