We pre-ordered four afternoon teas, one vegan, one, vegetarian, one fish and one meat. The service was amazing and they couldn't do enough for us. The food was beyond lovely and met all our requirements. There was loads of it as well and the price...was extremely competitive!!! I would totally recommend The Smokehouse but remember that you need to pre-order afternoon teas.More

Thank you for your lovely review, I was wondering if you would mind putting this on TripAdvisor for The Smokehouse Group TripAdvisor as this one should be closed, I thought no one could comment on it now. It is such a lovely comment it would...More

Went to have cooked breakfast (brunch) on a Sunday, only to be told no breakfasts after 12 noon. It was a little after 12. Very disappointing……since changing hands things are not the same. Beach Hut…your still cooking from noon so pull your socks up and...continue offering cooked breakfast later. It’s not just visitors your serving but locals too. Won’t be bothering there again. There’s other places more obliging.More

Arrived at 10:15 ish, sat at a table as the waiter cleared away, asked if we would like a menu, 10 minutes later we had to ask for a menu, the waiter clearly didn't want to be there today, Then the covid questionnaire or scan,...albeit sat outside next nearest people 10 meters away and a good breeze today. Anyway, an hour later our simple order of 2 x Poached eggs on toast, 1 orange juice and a decaf latte arrived, having chased a couple of times...the second the food was delivered i asked for the bill, didn't want to waste any more time in the place. No apology, just a 10% discount. They need to go and see how a decent road side cafe does breakfast, in and out with no hassle......only go if you have a load of time to waste, shocking customer service, in fact there was no customer service.!!More

Didn’t realise the excellent Beach Hut Cafe had changed hands when 3 of us went for lunch a few days ago but decided to give it a go anyway. Huge mistake!!!! Ordered an omelette, 2 poached egg and avocado dishes -one hot smoked salmon, one...bacon extra- and a side of fries and were still waiting almost an hour later despite only 4 other tables being occupied when we arrived. When we pointed out the length of time we’d been waiting the waitress instead of apology actually started arguing that we hadn’t waited that long. When dishes finally turned up -with no condiments- the hot smoked salmon was over cooked to the point of inedible, no avocado despite being standard on the menu and one small slice of toast for 2 eggs, and mine was white despite specifically ordering granary. Won’t be returning and certainly don’t recommend.More

Was really looking forward to trying this new rebranded cafe - now The Smokehouse. Unfortunately it was a really disappointing experience. We went for breakfast and it was the most bland food I have ever paid for - no effort put in to any of...the ingredients - supermarket budget brand quality - including the poorest excuse for bread/toast I have ever seen. Surely they could stretch to a couple of full-sized slices? Really tasteless, with no redeeming feature. It was interesting to read a previous review re: the customer overhearing conversations re: maximising profit, as this was exactly the impression I got - the cheapest ingredients and no real interest in quality. It is a shame as the rebranding looks really good and the service was friendly (despite issues with the coffee and missing food). By the way the chairs outside are the most uncomfortable I have ever had the misfortune of sitting on. You have to perch on the front as they are not wide enough to squeeze your buttock into. Even the children were complaining. Presumably another example of skimping on basics to maximise profit. I was hoping for so much better, especially as I thought they would be keen to create a good first impression. Perhaps the BBQ food is better, but I don't think I'll be rushing back to find out.More

Revisited this place at the weekend for Fathers Day and had breakfast. Asked for replacement Avocado as solid and unable to eat it let alone even cut it but was told that was the last one only to see other plates going out over the...next 30 minutes with Avocado on ! Asked for bacon crispy but was not ! As we sat inside all we could hear is the owner/Manager teaching the staff how to increase business when the food is delayed by offering drinks and other such poor service tips and tricks Customer focused this place is notMore

Popped in on Sunday morning hoping for a bit of a quick breakfast, this was on a recommendation so I was looking forward to it. The wait was not good at all, no apologies until the food arrived and that was after chasing. So a...little over 50 mins for a couple of coffees and poach egg on toast. Coffee was lovely but the food (couple of poached eggs on toast) was below what we were expecting. Out of 4 eggs, 2 were poached nicely, the other two were boiled to within an inch of their lives. One white toast and one brown was the order, both came out on brown and half of an avocado (bit under ripe) sliced on each piece. Just didn’t look that great. Should’ve mentioned it but not much point as the were busy and we were in a rush. Will give it another go but will try something different. I think they’ve changed owners by what someone said, fingers crossed it is better next time.More
