Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.

Had lunch with my family here on a busy Saturday during the Christmas market. We had booked and sat in the dining room at the back of the pub. The guy that served us was cheerful and put up with our various questions. The food...was good. Service was fine, although slowed down when it got busy. It’s a lovely old pub, and conveniently located. The waiter recommended a wine and it was delicious. All in all much nicer than some of the recent reviews suggest.More

My partner and I both ordered the Sunday Roast. The food was well cooked and although there were lots of vegetables and a lovely yorkshire there was only two small slices of meet - a very small portion which was disappointing. The service was also...really slow so we gave up on ordering desert and thought we would have coffee but the coffee machine wasnt working.More

Absolutely disgusting service 50 mins waiting for 4 burgers to be told the kitchen haven’t even been informed of our order! Rude bar staff who failed to inform us of any of this!! Added a survive change to the bill when we had to order...at the bar anyway! What a joke!More

We popped into the woolpack on Tenterden High street last week when we were visiting friends in the area. The staff seemed more interested in talking amongst themselves and with apparent regulars than serving us. Unfriendly server continued to talk to other staff when eventually...taking our order. I would not recommend this place to others and will not be returning.More

Poor. We arrived around 12.30 and placed our order in the restaurant. Shortly after we arrived a couple of groups from a wine tour company came in and from then it all went downhill. After waiting more than 40 minutes after our starters were cleared...we asked how much longer our mains would be and were told that the wine tours took priority. They then checked with the kitchen and returned to say they had lost our order so they hadn’t even started yet. We paid what we owed and left. Won’t be back. If you do go then I suggest you make sure you avoid anytime they have more high priority guests due.More

So I booked a room online a Superior Double, at £179 with Breakfast. The room was very very poor, fans in the room broken, bath had drainage problem, cold tap on sink water flow extremely poor. The room had stains on carpets, the furniture was...cheap and poor quality the radiator in bathroom was on permanently, the decor was in grey nothing else on walls very unpleasant room not fit for the price, bed was comfy though but it was pushed up near sloping ceiling so you could easily bang your head if you slept on the left side. When I mentioned all this to the staff they seemed uninterested and not bothered. Nice garden out the back and staff in bar friendly and helpful. The bar needs a refurb in my opinion carpets would be nice in small area and some comfortable chairs otherwise it’s not bad I guess. I’d give 3 out of 10 for overall stay. Breakfast was ok scrambled egg with smoked salmon I had, was not offered any toast thoughMore

We had not been to The Woolpack for several years and were very disappointed. Our friends wanted to go to The White Lion but we said The Woolpack was much better - famous last words! The menu was quite limited and quite a number of...items were not available as their suppliers had not delivered today and wasn't answering his/her 'phone! Service was quite slow and the waiter rather casual. Food ordered was okay but not particularly outstanding. The ultimate was when one of our group asked the waiter for bread and was told that as the kitchen was so busy - there were maybe 20 people in the dining room - it could take a long time for the bread to be served! Maybe they had run out of bread too!!More

The Woolie as it’s affectionately known is own by Balfour Wines, it’s lovely inside and when we visited the Woolie was not busy. Sitting at the front having pre dinner drinks was nice, and I think that a few more tables would be nice, if...possible.😊 The Balfour wines are stunning and we opted for the rose and we were not disappointed.😊 The food was good (when it arrived - more of this later), and sometimes I like being sole restaurant users because I imagine it as private dining 😊. Now for the bad bits - like Balfours in London the staff seem to be mostly disengaged with their customer base, and do not appear to care if you are there or not. This sort of superior attitude can come only from the top. On the basis that one must be grateful for dining at their establishments. They really need to sort out professionalism, it ruins an otherwise fantastic product. ☹️ Secondly, we asked for bread, but had to cook bread from frozen ☹️ Finally, we had ordered two steaks 🥩 as part of our four, and the bavette steaks were tough as anything……..☹️ we both remarked when my guests meal turned up finally and when everyone else’s had finished. In an empty restaurant how on earth can you forget to prepare one of four meals. I ordered peppercorn sauce and blue cheese arrived 😂. When the peppercorn arrived the ‘chef’ must have included an entire bottle of peppercorns 😂😂😂 We decided not to argue about our bill, but really if customer service was on point then they ought to have discounted say £30.00 for the late meal and removed the 10.5% service charge. Would I go back? Probably because I like the quiz nights and the beef burgers are really really good.🤩 So three ⭐️ or four ⭐️ I think the food was OK when it arrived but service was poor. Wines brilliant as always.More

We popped in last Sunday on the off chance we could get a table. Luckily, we were able to and were seated quickly by a lovely staff member. I had the vegan watermelon starter and poke bowl with vegan chicken. Both absolutely delicious and well...thought out. My husband had calamari and the burger which he really enjoyed too. It’s a cosy and friendly pub, with great staff. We will definitely return when in the area.More

Great friendly service in this cosy restaurant, our table had a view of the ancient church next door, we had the whitebait as a starter, then the chicken and leak pie for a main, quite simply the most succulent chicken in a melt in the...mouth crunchy pastry, my wife had a perfectly cooked salmon with clams in an Asian broth. A wonderful selection of Balfour wines, we drank the sparkling red and the oaked chardonnay. We shared a pineapple carpaccio to end.More

Came in for a Sunday roast which I’d been looking forward to. The lady who showed us to our table and served us was lovely, very polite and friendly. Unfortunately the food was average. The Camembert starter was quite bland and we didn’t have enough...bread to accompany it. For main my husband had a burger but he said it was overdone and therefore dry. The roast was disappointing because the beef was 50% fat and 50% meat. Roast potatoes had zero seasoning so they were very bland and the Yorkshire pudding was burnt. The swede purée was nice though. When the manager came to collect our plates he asked how our meal was, so I thought I’d be honest and say the beef had so much fat on it (you could see it all left on the plate) and he didn’t even acknowledge what I’d said. If you care how the meal is I think the feedback should at least be acknowledged, otherwise why ask!? For the price you can get much better roasts elsewhere. Sadly I don’t think we will be returning.More

Arrived at booked time 2pm. Waited 45 minutes for meals to arrive. Two Pork Roasts, One Lamb Roast and two 1/4lb burger meal (after 10 minutes told, NO burgers!). So quality of roast’s, poor: Yorkshire pudding’s we’re over cooked like ‘King Alfred’s’ cakes! Lamb was...more chewy than tender! Roast potatoes were like reheated roasts, ugh! Veg were ok, nothing to shout about, Gravy was tasty! Worth £22 NO!! Pork roast was enjoyable but roast potatoes and veg, ugh!! At £20 each NO, The fish and chip lunch was nice. So, NO drinks and the 4 meals came to £84 - if enjoyable, no problem but what we had was not! Add insult to injury, the unavailable burgers appeared as other guest had ‘em as we were leaving I’m not one for writing reviews, but feel this is our honest review from todays main event, excuse the pun . . . “Not happy bunnies” !!More

The restaurant at the back was good for about 10 maybe 12 people I would guess. The bar area to the right of the entrance could hold a lot more than that but was not set up for a group.
