Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Four of us went there for dinner on a Saturday evening. The staff were so good, our waitress was friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. The food was excellent and the portion sizes very generous! (I couldn’t finish my meal.) I would...definitely recommend going here and I think we will try a Sunday toast next time.More

This was my second visit. The first lunch I rated "so so" but most venues should be given a 2nd chance. We were a large group for Sunday lunch and the general verdict was "never again". The yorkshires were burnt, the roast potatoes difficult to...cut into and the plates swimming in a rather tastless and lumpy gravy. Several of us had the roast lamb and, while my friends rated it good, mine neither looked like theirs, nor tasted like lamb and was very tough. Apparently the beef and pork were also tough and the chilli was dry and tastless. I ordered the warm chocolate brownie for desert, but it was melted and, therefore, not a true brownie. A friend who had the pavlova, however, rated it excellent. Other deserts looked OK. The service was not great - we had to wait for cutlery and were given soup spoons without napkins for desert. Additionally, there is no carpark !More

Lovely local pub off the beaten track of busy Whitstable town! Visited for Sunday roast which is the best you'll get in Whitstable and I've tried them all. Great price at £19 or 2 courses, large portions, lots of veg & crispy roast potatos, beef...lovely and tender all served with a smile. Dessert was home made lemon drizzle cake & ice cream - absolutely delicious. If you don't fancy Sunday roast there's lots of other choice available. Great stuff!More

We booked this restaurant before our visit to Whitstable based on TripAdvisor reviews and we’re very glad we did! It was a little walk from the town centre but felt more of a local place than a tourist place. The menu and offers available were...varied and the prices were really reasonable. The food tasted fresh and the portions were generous. There was a good atmosphere and it was busy without being too noisy. We would definitely visit againMore

Visited today with my 2 year old and my family. My lot love a roast and after reading the reviews I decided to try it out. We wasn’t disappointed, for starters we shared the halloumi cheese bites with sweet chilli the bbq pork belly bites...(which were rendered really nicely and the chicken wings all tasted amazing! Then onto the mains 1 had the lamb roast, 1 lasagna and we had the prawn, crab and chorizo linguine. Massive prawns big pieces of chorizo and massive portions!! I couldn’t finish mine so they let me take the rest home. My 2 year old loves the Mac and cheese with garlic bread and ice cream she loved it. Coffees were nice and one had the lime and kiwi posset tasted good but just wasn’t set enough. Staff were lovely and we were overall really happy with the food so we will definitely be coming again to try some different dishes!More

Our party of four decided to have lunch here after a visit latter end of last year. The Menu on this visit seemed more refined. We all chose something different and were not disappointed. All meals were piping hot, well presented and great portions. Special...highlight was the starter of garlic mushrooms with chorizo, and cheese topping, so tasty. Congrats too, to the attentive staff....a very enjoyable visit. Fully recommend.More

We loved this place! 4 adults, 5 children and a dog. We had a separate room to dine in which was delightful and right next to the beer garden. The food took a while to arrive but we didn't mind. The staff were all super...apologetic and polite. The food was good. The drinks were good. And we wholeheartedly enjoyed it.More

Fantastic fish and chips. Lovely pint of Harvey's Best and great service. The pub is close to Whitstable Train Station and was certainly a lot better than the couple of other pubs we visited in Whitstable.

Very warm, friendly service. Good pub menu with homely food. Portions are huge which makes this very good value over and above what are already very reasonable prices. I found main Impossible to finish . Did not need both bread and chips with the chowder....Mains could easily be shared and there would still be plenty to eat. Desserts were equally generous. The posset size could be halved and I would not have felt short changed! On the night we were there it was, apparently, unexpectedly busy so food did not come out quite as quickly as it might have done but that was reflected in a voluntary reduction on the bill. We had no intention of asking for one. Clearly very child friendly With separate children’s menu and all the children were very well behaved. But what really made the meal was the waiting team.More

Visited today 24 February for lunch with friends very warm welcome and friendly staff. Started with soup, carrot and coriander, it was superb piping hot and absolutely delicious this was followed by fish and chips with mushy peas the serving was huge and delicious. I...must admit by now I was feeling rather full and then i saw on the dessert menu, bread and butter pudding and couldn’t resist, it was I think home made and was out of this world. The food in this place really is excellent A nice touch is if you have a CT5 post code you get 10% discount. Highly recommend to try this place you won’t be disappointed.More
