Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Stopped for lunch as had always fancied trying this place out, the pub was very cold and we had to keep our outdoor coats on, it wasnt busy and the server was nice, for the price of the main menu i would have expected better,...fish and chips probably the worst ive had, the oil tasted stale like it needed to be changed, chips overcooked did not look apealing and had a funny taste, the fried cabbage on the other meal was burnt in places, we left disapointed and will not return, nice menu but did not deliver on taste or value..More

Pub advertised as closed, drive passed and it is open, called in to ask if open and told yes. Building work going on, but not excessive, electrics going on and off and toilet lights not on. Ordered drinks in a freezing cold building, we should...have left and gone elsewhere but hey Ho..!!! Ordered food and when it arrived it was nice but we just wanted to be warm so even tho food was nice it was that cold we just wanted to go home. I felt sorry for the staff trying there best but sometimes pub owners just need to close and stop being greedy opening when places are not ready to eat in. Food nice, to cold, no apologies offered, no discount offered, £105 for 3 people, no heating, broken electrics..! Not good really, wouldn’t go back any time soon..!!More

I have been coming here for the past 15 years and always had amazing food, service and the atmosphere has been excellent......... until today. All i can say is never again. The service was appalling. Alot of things on the menu were out of stock...which i do understand - but when you order food and it does not come with 2 main items and you ask why to be told oh we have ran out. Where is the communication here. So we split the bill 2 ways - well the boys face at the bar - he looked at us like we had 3 heads. I told the girl at the bar about the bad experience to be told oh sorry - not even a what happened or sorryMore

Been on our list of places to try for years. Very glad we finally got around to it. Great food, great service and very helpful providing me with water when I discovered my car radiator had sprung a leak. Will be back!

We generally love eating here but tonight was terrible,. Our food arrived cold so we told the staff who agreed to make it fresh, it was not made fresh. It was warmed up to a degree, bread was rock hard and most was still cold...as was the entire pub. We had to move table to one near a radiator as the place was do cold. Very disappointing!More

After a reservoir walk this is a great place to chill out and treat yourself to some food and drinks. The kids enjoyed theirs too.

Its been a while since we've been to the King William and so today had a lunch  time trip. Cheese  and onion pie was really, really tasty with plenty of mixed veg and triple cooked chips.  I had steak, onion and cheese ciabata with triple...cooked chips and crispy onions on the side, delightful. Absolutely delicious food , piping hot and tasty.  Staff are very attentive  and polite.  The pub is also very dog friendly and has a separate dining area for dogs and their parents.  Looking forward to returning soon 😀More

My husband and I visited this pub/restaurant one evening for a treat. I had looked on the on-line menu beforehand and had chosen corned beef hash. When I came to order it the waitress looked at me blankly and said they had never had corned...beef hash. "Well, ok I'll have chicken katsu" My husband ordered roast turkey. After 5 minutes she came back and said there were no Yorkshire puddings but would he accept extra potatoes. He said he would. The meals, when they arrived were definitely average. Chicken Katsu: chicken ok, but hardly any sauce. The worst thing was the red cabbage that accompanied it. The vinegar on the cabbage was so strong it made my eyes water and was unedible. Roast turkey: again, a very average dish. Potatoes didn't look or taste roasted, more like they had been put in a chip pan. We won't be returning in a hurry.More

We went for Sunday lunch yesterday, The meat was lovely but the veg was ruined by watery gravy poured all over the plate. I did inform the young man behind the bar as we paid.

Visit here often and never disappointed... this evening was no change. Food excellent with some quirky specials all cooked perfectly. Ignore any haters they obviously like a greasy cafe instead. Keep up the good work Thanks

Good afternoon. We do not currently do a sponge pudding, we have a sticky toffee pudding with butterscotch sauce, served with cream or ice cream.
