I have to say I have eaten at the Freemasons many times in the last few years and I have never witnessed anything even vaguely similar to what you describe and I have always found the staff to be a happy bunch that provide excellent service.
Perhaps I might suggest what you saw was someone having those rare bad days we all have or even banter I know my self and my work colleagues all get on but can be quite sarky with each other as a sign of affection.
