This pub is a credit to the village of waddington
We as a family had Sunday lunch food was excellent the staff have so much patience for anything that is thrown at them even in at busy times. They let you even bring the dog,
Gemma’s staff should be commended for all the hard work they put in.
A friend of ours from Ireland stopped in the coach house recently. Commenting on how clean and cosy
It was she asked the cleaner one morning if she could have an extra towel this was sorted immediately with a smile and please don’t hesitate to ask if you need anything else . I think she was called Margaret but not sure.

First time here.We had to wait a little while to be seated, our elderly mum wanted to be seated quickly. The service was very good, we had onion rings to share, nmust say these were the nicest we have tasted in a long time.
Mains were scampi and the steak and ale pie,all served very hot and plenty of food very filling.
Well worth a visit.

We booked 2 nights, and stayed in one of the 'lodges', just outside the pub. Overall we were very impressed. Despite being the start of January, we had reservations about how warm we would be during the night, but with underfloor heating it sometimes got a little too warm!, so our fears were unfounded. Very clean, and well presented accomodation. The pub itself is warm and inviting, excellent friendly staff and locals, and the owner Olly, was a great host. Above all - excellent evening food! As per other reviews, you have to walk 2 minutes to another pub (Waddington Arms) to get breakfast - but it's well worth it, one of the best 'full English' I've had in many years. Will definately be going back again.

Thank you for taking the time to write The Lower Buck a lovely review. We have passed your comments onto Ollie too. We are very happy to know you loved the underfloor heating and very necessary in the Ribble Valley as yes, it can get cold up here!
We look forward to welcoming you back to our historic pub when you are next in the area.

Arrived on time having booked on line.Waited 2 minutes whilst the woman behind the bar decided to ignore us, despite not serving any customers. The conversation she was engaged in with the barman appeared more important .She Did not recognise the booking ,until I produced the email confirmation to be met with a grunt of acknowledgement
Next bit of great customer services was for her to call to one of the waiting staff “put them 2 on the table over there “Not a table we would have chosen at all.
Charged £14.50 for the advertised £12.50 Pie and. A Pint deal “. My wife’s £13.95 Chicken Goujons not on a par with the equivalent in M and S dish
Front of bar focussed on locals who were not eating, but made it nigh impossible for anyone else to get near to the bar area
Wouldn’t go near the place again. The Higher Buck in the same village is on a different level on all fronts

Good Morning, Thank you for taking the time to review my establishment. I’m extremely saddened to read of your torrid time in my venue and the described way you have been treated at the Lower Buck INN, I can assure you I will be conducting a full enquiry into your claims and I will ensue all avenues of enquiry including watching the CCTV footage and compare my employees timings, comments and understanding of the situation against yours and be certain to update you on my findings. I take great pride in my teams customer service skills and I thoroughly enjoy reading the positive comments about my team that far out weigh the bad. I will now put measures in place to try and reduce the two minute wait time you mention down to immediate attention as a customer walks in, I appreciate you pointing out that a colleague to colleague conversation is unacceptable behind a working bar, and that a relaxed happy environment for colleagues to work in is not acceptable in your opinion. With regards to your table and your dissatisfaction with it, I will view my cctv and try to understand why you found your table unacceptable, as much as we like to offer our customers a choice of tables we can’t always accommodate our customers personal preferred choice as we are a cozy country INN with a few cozy nooks and crannies not a bespoke sterile dining room, nothing wrong with such a dinning room but just not ‘ My personal choice ‘ as you put it. I am a little perplex as when I read your very descriptive interpretation of my employees accent you depict a very broad Lancashire accent, and the female employees I have, both which I might add are management level talk nothing like a broad Lancashire accent, but like I said I will be making a full enquiry. Quite right if you have been over charged the £2.00 then I will be more than happy to reimburse you, however it would have to be a bank transfer as you stated you are not going near the place again. ! I can only apologise as this is my error in not updating the website and putting the £2.00 increase for the deal at the top of my agenda after all it is higher priority than steering a business through nearly 2 years of a Global pandemic, keeping 15 employees in jobs and not only that but in one of the hardest hit sectors but yes shame on me. With regards to your wife’s chicken goujon dish (which just happens to be one of our best sellers) if you were dissatisfied with your dish and found it inedible did you bring this to the attention of one of my team? As per our customer satisfaction policy which I personally instigate if a customer simply cannot eat the dish due to our negligence in providing an offering far superior than an M & S offering (I presume you were meaning Marks & Spencer … not sure you were as their offerings are rather expensive and you quote costs twice) then we would offer to replace the item or if the customer refused to eat the dish a full refund would be given ? We are a village INN, the Lower Buck INN has adorned its foundations since 1760 providing a haven for all if required, and certainly under my 5 year tenure all are welcome, but yes we do have a very loyal following of local INN dwellers, come rain or shine, day or night, pandemic or no pandemic, winter, spring, summer and autumn they choose to find their recreation time in my establishment, and for that I am truly grateful this however does mean that sometimes visiting guests to the INN feel a little overwhelmed or intimidated by the people sat at the INN’s bar or stood in front of the fire but an INN provides, Lodgings, food, drink and most importantly of all a good friendly welcome and The Lower Buck INN and its charm and character ticks every box for most. However evidently you can’t win them all !! After such a shameful and disheartening experience for yourselves I would normally offer a chance for myself and my hard working team to redeem ourselves by asking you to return as my guests for the evening to show you how much we care about our customers satisfaction, but sadly due to you ‘never going near the place again’ this cannot be an option. I could however maybe get you some M&S vouchers in way of our heart felt apology? Yours Sincerely Oliver Clegg Owner
Ps I will post my findings as and when I have gathered all the appropriate information.

This was always our go to place for a traditional pub meal. We visited recently and were REALLY disappointed.
The service was very slow, which is acceptable in the current environment but the food was terrible, the cheese and onion pie was a very very thin crust with virtually no filling and the steak pie wasn’t much better. The Goujons were dry and very expensive for what you got.
Really disappointed but we will need to find a new pub food pub.

Had a family meal here tonight, was absolutely amazing… the fish pie was crammed full of fish, you can tell the fish is fresh because of how soft it was and how nice it tasted. The hotpot was also outstanding, loads of flavour and plenty of tender meat. Even the side of buttered garden peas were a highlight. Kids meals were good quality and generous portions, I found it hard to resist swiping the odd chunky chip!
I’m a sucker for a log fire in the colder months too, our table was in a room which had a log fire going, so extra brownie points for that.
All in all it’s without doubt full marks from us, will be back again soon 👍🏻

Where do we start, from initial contact with the landlords the communication and handling of everything was exceptional.
We stayed in the piggeries wow, what an amazing new addition, tastefully decorated and cost and homely feel with mod cons and old world charm.
The food was outstanding, lamb Sunday to roast and Peri Peri chicken screwer to die for. Quote "the best most authentic taste meal I have had while in the UK"
You won't be disappointed and word of caution come hungry, they are very generous portions.
The pub locals, staff especially Gemma is a credit to your pub, she is fantastic. Olli and Kate we will hopefully be back soon to see everyone, yes we felt that welcome after 2 days stay.
Go on go and see these guys and girls for a good meal.

It was my first visit for a couple of years .It's nice country pub with open fires on a winters day. Service was friendly and efficient. The beer was as good as I remember and opted for the Moorhouses which is usually a good option. The food is what I would describe as typical pub food ,generous portions served piping hot . Everyone in the group enjoyed their meals and agreed it was a good venue.

My wife and I phoned an hour before our arrival at lunchtime on Sunday 17th Dec and got a cheery reply to say they would readily accommodate us although they were quite busy.
We sat in the front room next to the open fire that our dog Ruby loved after the walk from Clitheroe.
We ordered main courses from the table that took around 20 mins to arrive, and both thoroughly enjoyed our venison sausages and fish pie washed down with an excellent pint of Timothy Taylor's and brandy and lemonade x 2.
The excellent service encouraged us to have a suite ..it would be rude not to!..sticky toffee pudding and rhubarb crumble with custard which again was delicious.
We finished our drinks and paid the bill for just shy of £70.00 and left feeling thoroughly satiated.
The staff were all very friendly...Ruby was even given a few boneo treats by the young waitress...so she was pleased too.
All in all we had a lovely time and would recommend it to all.

What a fantastic pub/bistro this is! No prepackaged food here guys, it is all cooked from fresh by experienced chefs and the food is fantastic. I had one of their amazing burgers which was chunky and full of flavour. Others in our party had home made cheese pie ( I tried some ). It was delightful the chef certainly knows his/her craft!. And omg the puddings! My granddaughter had the hot chocolate fudge cake and cleared the lot. All in all an extremely positive experience and I now class it as my go to restaurant. One tiny little thing it is lacking though is an all day breakfast. If they start doing this I will be there morning , noon and night! 😁

Friendly staff, good choice of traditional pub staples and a range of specials are all on the menu at the Lower Buck. The pleasant rear terraced area is heated and large enough for several tables with reasonable social distancing and the front is a lovely sunny area with plenty of space. Enjoyed our meal and I wouldn’t hesitate to go back.

We stayed at the Lower Buck Inn following a wedding in Clitheroe. The owners were lovely and accommodating when we asked for a slightly earlier check in so it didn't take too much time away from the wedding.
The Inn is situated about 2 miles away from Clitheroe (only costs about £7 in a taxi back so location wise it's perfect) and in a peaceful and picturesque part of the area. There is no parking on site, but there lots of space available to park on the nearby streets.
We stayed in the delux double room. The room was very clean with excellent facilities and we had a very comfortable night's sleep. We look forward to staying here again to spend more time in Clitheroe and to try the lower buck pub directly opposite our room.

Stopped in for a spot of lunch today, seated straight away and everything was table service in light of the current conditions. Staff were super friendly and helpful, the atmosphere was inviting and warm and the food was amazing. Even the locals were happy to have a chat with us whilst we were sat after finishing our lunch.
