Our first visit to this outstanding restaurant. Absolutely top class on every level. The host and chef (owners) were unbelievably passionate about their family business. Highly recommended, we'll definitely be going back very soon.
We have been several times over the last few years and this is always the best restaurant around. Unbelievably good food, never had a bad meal and the specials were exceptional this time. The service is amazing as well, so attentive and quick with everything....I cannot fault anything.More
If you looking for authentic Italian cuisine cooked with the freshest ingredients, this is the place. Imported olive oil, cheese and more blended with regional local suppliers. Served with a delightful wine list (I recommend the chilled red sparkling Bonarda!). What finishes it off as...the knowledge and charm of both Cinzia and Maurizio. A masterclass! BravoMore
La Locanda is quite simply one of the best genuine Italian restaurants in the North West. The menu is authentic, the food delicious and a great wine list compliments the dishes. The Service is prompt, friendly and the staff always happy to talk customers through...the menu. In the cosiest of settings the restaurant is big enough to feel vibrant and small enough to feel intimate.More
Had the venison stew with mushrooms and creamy mash potatoes. It was absolutely gorgeous. I have never tasted such a rich, full flavour with incredibly succulent meat. The most amazing meal! Cannot recommend it enough. Will be back...
A fantastic food and wine experience in a truly stunning venue. The food is prepared to perfection and served with love by Cinzia and her staff. The home made authentic bread; the olive oil; the wine; the fresh pasta; the fish…… everything we tried made...us feel like we were dining in Italy. A must visit to truly appreciate this little gem. We will be definitely returning. Highly recommended!More

We booked this place as it was very near to where we were stying for a few days (Hedgerow Luxury Glamping). We were welcomed warmly and shown upstairs to the dining room which was lovely full of rustic charm that looked as much rural Lancashire...as it did rural Italian - so that worked very well. There already a few tables in at 7.30pm on a Tuesday - which kind of shows the popularity of the place, unless you live in Gisburn, it is a drive for somebody. Anyway we were brought drinks while we perused the menu. The wait staff brought us homemade bread basket which was delicious and we were read the specials of the evening. To start we chose and Nduja sausage dish, and scallops which were simply stunning! For mains we chose a special of tortellini filled with halibut and a wild boar pasta dish (I have not had wild boar before). Again, these were delicious, expertly made pasta and super tasty. The portions were about right, decent but not overfacing. We asked them to pair our wine with red and white selections for what we were eating, again really nice choices that went with the food really well. For dessert we shared like a canolli type thing made of flakey pastry and filled with a ricotta cream, it was completely delicious and not too sweet, but a sweet enough to be a lovely dessert. This of course backed up by a vintage grappa, that isn't very common in UK restaurants. We were also brought complimentary home made truffles that I had with my espresso - again delicious. All in all a very lovely experience in food, service and environment. We waited a little while for our mains, but as the starters were substantial, and we were still picking at bread and olives, this was not a problem, and definitely worth the wait, afterall these were specials that were prepared and cooked to order on a busy evening, so we knew that patience would probably pay off. We finally left around 10.30pm - so a 3 hour dinner experience, and there were still a couple of tables in getting stuck into their food. There were alot of ooh's and mmmms at various tables so it seemed that other diners were having similar taste sensations. A lovely place, full of authenticity, seasonal menus, prepared by people who obviously care about what they are serving. Next time we are up that way we definitely be returning - but book as early as possible as tables get booked up quickly. Well done guys, grazzie milleMore
So often I drive through Gisburn and think I must go there, so I did. What a fantastic authentic Italian dining experience. It’s intimate interior just adds to the charm. Some of the dishes and wines can seem a little pricey but the seafood spaghetti...was a very generous portion with an abundance of shellfish to the envy of my dining companion! The food is locally sourced and even homegrown. I would highly recommend.More
An eating experience from start to finish this is the best italian restaurant my family has experienced. The food is 100% lovingly prepared, and the attention to detail throughout the restaurant is beautiful. I would recommend anyone who appreciates quality food give it a visit...but please book beforehand.More

Another exceptional meal at a traditional Italian restaurant. For me to be welcomed by the owner of the restaurant is not the norm but is always to be thankful for. We decided to forego starters but they arrived nonetheless courtesy of the restaurant. Our main...courses were 35 day aged rib of beef on the bone was beautifully cooked as was my wild sea bass. Lovely complimentary Sorbet in between courses and no room for desert. This is a restaurant operated in the traditional manner where the owners are front of house and head chef, a rare event these days.More
