This was a pleasant surprise. The pub had an extensive menu and also catered well for vegetarians. The food was very good. The vegetables were freshly cooked and the mango Brie filo parcels homemade. We would certainly return. My only 'complaint' was that all the tables around the fire were 'reserved' but at 2.00 pm no one had appeared to... More

Visited with group of 7 having made a reservation for a family birthday meal in the evening. It was a cold night but the place was warm and atmospheric having the feel of a small local pub with a cosy dining section. Staff were friendly and professional. If you like real ales they have them and guest ales too, but... More

The dishes if anything were over generous as were the deserts. Even the light lunches were the same I may be biased - my Great Grandfather was the publican from 1890 to 1935 - but it has to be one of the best pubs in the country

Nicest Pub I have been in since I arrived in England. Waitresses were great, vast food choices, great apple cider and true British Pub environment. Chicken in a bacon creamed sauce, vegetable lasagna made with beetroot, cabbage, and onions, great garlic bread and nice fresh salads. Didn't want to leave, regulars were super friendly and it was very nice and... More

We had booked a table and arrived in plenty of time , we enjoyed a good selection of beer and wines , the table was very cosy near the electric fire ! The menu was plenty full sometimes a worry I wise the chef would just concentrate on a few things , but food ordered and the starters came ,... More

Very good service, good atmosphere, warm and cosy. What let it down for me was the vegetarian options. They didn't change and the offerings were lasagne or a bake. A vegetable curry or risotto or something inspiring would have been nice. I ordered a cheese salad as I was so fed up with the options and was given great big... More

Lovely atmosphere, friendly service. We were a group of 21, and had not preordered. Orders were taken efficiently off a specials board and regular menu, both with a good choice. The meals arrived quickly, and were freshly cooked. Generous portions and a fair price. The only thing that spoilt it, was that none of the puddings were made in-house, and... More

This is the village pub - so if you are staying in the village and want to drink alcohol there is nowhere else The village is picturesque and we enoyed looking around The pub decor is OK and the bars are comfortable The beer, Marston's Pedigree and Adnams Southwold, were fine, the white wine though was only average The food...
