As we had a visitor from New Zealand and we had decided to take him to Burghley House we thought we would give The Slater a try for Sunday lunch as all but one of the reviews had been good. We were very pleased we did as all the food was excellent, plenty of meat fresh veg and crispy roast... More

We were staying at The Grange, Burton Lazars, for one night on route to the Rutland Water Bird Fair and the Grange owner recommended this Inn for an evening meal. We hadn't booked the meal in advance and arrived just after 6 pm. Although very popular and booked up, we were allowed a table provided we were finished before the... More

Visited for the first time and had the most amazing freshly cooked homemade food. This family run pub is well worth a visit. The service was excellent and the staff couldn't have been nicer. Would recommend to anyone.

A super old pub, with great beers and a great menu of proper pub food all tasty and at good value. We'll run by its family owners.

I visited the Stilton Cheese for the third time on the 22 July and stayed for 3 nights, this time I did have the chance to have breakfast as I was unable to work on the Sunday, what a fantastic breakfast it was to, the evening meals as delicious as they were on my last 2 visits. Such a good... More

We have just visited the Stilton cheese at lunchtime today . The home cooked food was delicious with plenty of fresh vegetables . The desserts were also lovely and such a wide choice .can recommend the bread & butter pudding . Yummy. We have visited this place before and it seems the quality is consistent.

We stayed here for one night 6-8 weeks ago, I've been working in Beaumont Leys for the last week and chose to drive to the Stilton Cheese 35 minutes from where I am working for the following reasons. 1, the owners and staff made us so welcome the first time we stayed, they also all remembered us from our first... My wife and I visited this pub for lunch as it was described on the internet as one of the best in Leicestershire and true to form the door was bedecked by Trip Advisor stickers and recommendations from Camera and to be fair the beer was good. Unfortunately the food was nowhere near as good. I had a rump steak... More

This was our second visit to the stilton cheese inn and it did not disappoint. A friendly welcome on arrival and luckily tables available on a busy bank holiday Monday. The specials board is always excellent. Filled with satisfying traditional pub grub. Lasagne and sea bass for mains. Big portions with additional veg on the side. Bargain for the price.... More
