Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Just spent a week in the village luckily staying next door to this great pub - by the time we left we felt like locals. I have to agree with most reviews of the ship Inn - the welcome was warm the beer was good and the food was great and good value. We were lucky to be there for the burns night celebration the pub was packed it seemed like everyone from the village was there, to see a good pub still being the heart of a community was uplifting when so many pubs are closing or losing their character this shows how a pub should be run.

We were on holiday in the area and wanted somewhere dogs were welcome looked on the net and found the Ship Inn so we read the reviews and decided to give it a try and we weren't disappointed. On entering everything was being done to maintain social distancing and the ambiance of the place was great. We ordered our food and drink and it was all table service 2 of us had the garlic chicken,1 the stroganoff and 1 the rabbit pie all were absolutely delicious and the chips were to die for we all had desserts A3 cheesecakes and 1 sticky toffee pudding all were delicious this was a lovely meal and I would advise anyone in that area to try it they won't be disappointed.

Visited this pub every night whilst staying in Muston eating there a couple of times. By the end of our stay we felt like 'locals ' as Linda the landlady, Nicky her daughter, who is the chef, Hannah the barmaid, and the locals made us feel very welcome. We would highly recommend Nicky's tasty home cooked food . Just a pity we were not there for her Sunday Roast which everybody comments on as being very good. We loved the way this small pub has lots of themed memorabilia in different sections. Already looking forward to visiting again.

We looked at the website food pics and it looked great, booked a table and arrived that evening. Limited real ale choice, the wife had a hair on the chips that she was served (so they were left) And my cutlery was dirty so asked for a replacement. I went for the great sea food!, I ended up with the scampi.

Great food, great welcome, lovely pub, extremely COVID safe. We had a couple of beef pies, meat lasagne and a vegetable lasagne, followed by bread and butter pudding. All homemade and absolutely superb. Would highly recommend if people would like a traditional pub, with a warm welcome from both staff and locals.

This pub was suggested by my Air B&B host and was one of the best food finds of the holiday. We ate here twice. But booking is recommended as it is a small pub. The pub is a traditional pub with lots of querky decore and a friendly family run feel to it. There were a couple of modern craft style ales on tap that were good. The pub is not trying to be a gastro pub and the meals are very very good value for money The food menu was more off piste than i had expected. I had a beef stroganoff which was probably the tastiest thing I had in years. On my 2nd visit it was a struggle to not order the stroganoff again, but I was brave and i went for the steak, it was superb... and all the trimmings equally as impressive. I had recently had a very good steak in a local gastro pub and there was little to no difference in taste just the Ship Inn was half the price!. Basically I cannot rate this place high enough. Do yourself a favour and book this understated gem

My boyfriend and I recently visited here while staying in Muston and we were very impressed by the service and quality of the food. The pub is dog friendly as well which is a big bonus and the staff are all very welcoming and helpful. We had a steak pie each and shared a garlic mushrooms starter and the food arrived fairly quickly and it was so tasty! I would highly recommend calling at this pub if you are in the area and looking for something good to eat and a warm welcome.

What a great find this was, thanks to Trip Advisor. We were staying in Hunmanby and wanted a pub that did a proper Sunday lunch. We weren’t disappointed. It’s a small pub absolutely packed full of character. We’d barely sat down before huge platefuls of roast pork or beef were served, with vegetables in side dishes. I think it’s safe to say the roast potatoes were the best I’ve had eating out. The dessert menu was packed full of comfort dishes I’d love to have tried but could barley move after my delicious dinner. Service was fast, friendly and came with a smile. I’d have no hesitation in going back here again.

Looked up pubs to eat near to where we were staying at Reighton and the Ship came up on the list. The lady on the phone who took the booking was delightful and no different as we were welcomed through the doors. On arrival, The Ship is how we remember pubs, homely, vibrant and friendly. My family and i were shown to our table and attended to as soon as we were sitting comfortably. The menu had a great variety of home cooked food to suit all tastes. Drinks arrived, food soon followed with all of us overjoyed at the healthy portions and the chips were done how they should be. Home made puddings followed and a reasonable bill to say there were Six of us with drinks too. All round great food, lovely staff and fully belly’s Great job, we’ll be back next time we are back on the East Coast 👏🏼

Small pub with a lovely homely atmosphere. Visited with family and friends (table for 7) New Year’s Day and we all enjoyed a variety of meals. The staff were extremely friendly and accommodating and the food was delicious. Home cooked food from a varied menu. Look forward to returning.

My mate and I have been walking the Yorkshire Wolds Way over the last few months and always find a pub to eat when we have finished a stage. I booked a table as I had seen on social media that it was advisable, we arrived a bit earlier than expected but it was not a problem. We both ordered a pint of IPA and were shown to our table in front of a roaring fire. Our order for two Sunday roasts was promptly taken and our meals were brought out after hardly any wait at all. A plate with a good portion of roast beef, roast potatoes and two large Yorkshire puddings each was brought to the table along with a large bowl of mashed potato, a tureen of carrots, broccoli and brussel sprouts with a gravy boat to accompany them. It wasn’t the biggest selection of vegetables but they were certainly plentiful and cooked to perfection. Everything was polished off but we did still manage a pudding! Treacle sponge and custard for me, bread and butter pudding with custard for my mate, again both excellent. The total bill was £42 which I thought was reasonable. I told the landlord that we have had some very good meals after our walk stages but I think this just edged it as the best due to his roast potatoes. Certainly worth a visit if you are in the area

Everytime we have visitors we take them to The Ship Inn in Muston village as we know we always get a great meal, quality Ales and friendly service. We were not disappointed last night, we are so lucky to have this pub in our neighbourhood. A new member of staff made our evening a memorial experience, Paul thank you for your attentive manner, your recommendations were perfect. Home made food that tastes better than any other we have tasted. Keep it up.

We found this place through Trip advisor and looking at the reviews we thought we would give it a go. We where not disappointed. For food I had the steak pie which was great however the pastry could of been more done for me as it was a bit soft. For dessert I had the rice pudding which was perfectly homemade and the best rice pudding I have ever had. It was out of this world and demonstrated home cooking at its finest. Thankyou very much we will be back.

We strolled across the road from our holiday accommodation for an evening meal after a day spent walking on the Wolds Way The food was delicious and reasonably priced. The atmosphere was very convivial and the landlord and staff welcoming. There is plenty to spark conversation from the eclectic mix of ‘memorabilia’ and collections on display.

Just had the Sunday roast dinner. Oh my word......soooooo good. 3 beef and 1 pork and the portion sizes are huge. The food was stunning with a great selection of veg and 2 huge homemade Yorkshire puddings. The roast potatoes were on another level. 2 sticky toffee puddings and the 4 of us can't move. Quite possibly 1 of the best roast dinners ever. Great pub with friendly staff....1st time visiting and definitely will return.
