Wonderful food and great service.
Set along the riverside this lovely little place offers a great selection. The Pulled Pork wrap is fully loaded, with homemade coleslaw and salad. Coffee and hot chocolate that is piping hot and a casual laid back atmosphere.
The poached eggs looked amazing, we were both very tempted when seeing other diners dishes been served.
They also take card payments too!
Highly recommended!

If you want to take some refreshment on your stroll along the River Nidd at Knaresborough, you might consider dropping into this place, which
enjoys a very good position along the Riverside Walk, close to the base of the Railway Viaduct.
It offers hot drinks, snacks, cakes, full breakfasts, lunches and is also licensed to serve alcohol.
There is both indoor and outdoor seating available. If you sit inside then take a moment to examine the paintings displayed, some of which
depict the Riverside Walk just outside. If you sit outside, well just enjoy the gorgeous scenery.
Prices are what you might expect at what is a busy visitor attraction.
And after your rest you may feel energetic enough to take on the many steps which ascend from the Riverside, up to the Town Centre above.
Happy climbing.
Major Credit cards are accepted.

Great food and amazing service!
We visited today 9th September, didn’t realise they were shutting at 3:30pm but went in at 2:50pm, still happy to serve us and we had an amazing coffee and some toasted ciabatta.
Very yummy and the staff were so friendly. Would definitely recommend perfect for a lunch spot.

This is a nice restaurant in a lovely spot, and does well in competition against two close by competitors because it has indoor seating, good staff, and a nice menu.
However, I had the vegan breakfast the other day and lovely though it was, was surprised how tight it was versus the full english.
So, on the full english you get bacon, sausage, egg, hash brown, tomato, beans, mushroom, black pudding, toast and juice.
Whilst on the vegan you get 2 sweetcorn fritters, tomato, beans, mushroom, spinach, toast and juice.
So instead of the bacon, sausage, egg and hash brown you get 2 sweetcorn fritters.
They are very nice sweetcorn fritters. But quite small.
And the price? The same for both at £9.50.
The north has certainly been slow to embrace meat free options, and it is nice that there is an alternative at the Black Mulberry.
But when you sit next to somebody who has ordered the full breakfast it does leave you feeling a little ripped off with your vegan breakfast.
If you eat meat, go here for breakfast. It is great.
If you don’t, the alternative options aren’t great either, so you may just end up here.
Just don’t expect equal value.

Called at The Black Mulberry on a chilly Sunday morning. Only had 2 coffees £5.50 was going to have a burger for lunch but £9 for a burger is a bit steep in a coffee shop. This place has changed prices have gone up and staff not as friendly as when is was Rascals. We certainly won't be going in again!!! Place was full of dogs as they accept dogs!!!. Plenty of other nice coffee shops in Knaresborough!!!

We waited outside for over 10 mins with the waitresses ignoring us. They then seated us and left us with no menus, after another 15+ mins they came over and offered us menus-we said we were ready to order. It took 20 mins to prepare a coke and a hot chocolate and another 5 for the pancakes to arrive. The pancakes were dry with not a lot of syrup. It was busyish for a Thursday morning but they just seemed to ignore us:/ there were spare tables at all times and always a queue outside. Just can’t keep up with demand-maybe they were understaffed idk but I wouldn’t recommend to a friend.

Highly recommended little cafe down by the river, selling a variety of drinks and an excellent selection of nibbles. Friendly staff and service with a smile (behind the masks). We all had different drinks and nibbles and all thoroughly enjoyed. The rain did not dampen our spirits sat in one of the covered outside seating areas.

This is a delightful riverside cafe with a pleasant view. The lovely waitress took time to secure me a table at a busy time and even watched it whilst I ordered since I was visiting alone. The food was delicious and I would give 5 stars if only the hot chocolate was up to scratch! The cafe had a much shorter waiting time than neighbouring ones and this is not just an alternative to those. Would definitely stop by again if I visit Knaresborough.

As a Knaresborough resident we have not often been able to eat in the Black Mulberry due to its popularity with tourists. However, we set out early this morning for a walk along Waterside with the aim of celebrating our wedding anniversary with a breakfast at The Black Mulberry. We were not disappointed, we were met with a smile and a choice of seating. We ordered coffees and full breakfasts which included a large glass of fruit juice.
The breakfast was freshly cooked from obviously high quality, local ingredients and was a substantial, but not overloaded, quantity. The sausage was perfect and the black pudding scrummy.
Overall it was fabulous (and we had the added pleasure of a very well behaved little black dog on a neighbouring table enjoying her own breakfast sausage!)
Highly recommend.

Visited for lunch today with my husband. I had the homemade mushroom soup and my husband had a ham and cheese pancake, as a winter special. The service was really friendly and the food was excellent, best soup I have eaten in a long time , a very generous portion with lovely bread on the side !
Nice touch of a biscuit with my coffee as well.
Will definitely be back !! Highly recommend.

We visited this cafe on a Sunday afternoon. The cafe was busy as the weather was lovely, we were seated outside which was nice, the spot is in a great location for people watching along the river. However, we were not informed we had to order at the bar, so we sat for over 20 minutes with numerous staff members passing us and not informing us, before eventually I had to ask. Once we ordered, we waited over an hour for our food. We ordered a salad and an English breakfast. We frequently have brunch at cafes and both of our meals were very average, much like 'greasy spoon' cafe food, which the price does reflect. My salad was obviously frozen chicken with some rocket, this is not really a salad, my partners eggs were overcooked, and the toast was so hard he couldn't cut into it. Overall, I wouldn't visit here again and would try elsewhere with better quality food.

Walking along the river today we decided to pop in for brunch. We ordered the vegetarian breakfast which was beautifully cooked , especially enjoyed the sweet corn fritters. Staff were friendly and helpful. All in all a lovely experience. Will look forward to the next visit.

We visited The Black Mullberry on Sunday 12th September 2021.Interesting to see that it is better rated than Marigolds cafe opposite! Although the Latter has slightly better views but Longer Queues!! The Coffee is Excellent at the Black Mullberry, latte or cappuccino! This cafe was previously Rascals, they still have an ice cream kiosk next door.We had a wholemeal fat Rascal scone priced at £3.20 which was very nice, plus two of us had a hot bap.The hot baps are a bit pricey,£5 each that only includes one item(EG-Sausage)bacon or an egg is an extra £1,each.But all the contents are Quality although we were surprised they don't offer Black Pudding.Good Cafe, very friendly staff.Never tried Marigolds but don't like Queuing.

Lovely cafe, great location and friendly staff. The food was the best food we've eaten out in a very long time. Great value for a main and a drink at just under £10 each. I had the fish chowder and it was amazing! Can absolutely recommend. My husband had the nachos (no chilli) and again it was above and beyond expectations. Quality produce, quality food, great value. You can tell the chef is talented with great flavours and textures and takes real pride in what they serve to their guests. We will definitely be back and will bring friends next time so they can also try the amazing food! We'll done Black Mulberry ❤

The cafe overlooks was river Nidd and considering its location we found it reasonably priced and the food was excellent. We had a couple of toasted ciabatta sandwiches with chips which were very nice. I also recommend the homemade lemonade. The staff were also friendly and our food arrived earlier that we were told.
