Visited this restaurant 3 days before Christmas........ 7.30pm and three tables filled only. The large restaurant was without soul and atmosphere.....such a shame as it used to be buzzing. The waiting staff were very pleasant. Wine - average and wine list uninspiring ....... The menu is a huge book - lots of choice. Soup excellent. Salmon and prawn starlets also... More

The 'Giant Fresh Battered Cod' was neither giant or fresh, unless fresh has been downgraded to freshly defrosted mush and giant downgraded to hanging between the limits of a generally large plate. The young girls serving were a delight and that's the only reason I didn't make more of it. My partners Salmon was also of the defrosted community, so... More

First time visitor to the Shorthorn today for Sunday lunch. Staff were friendly and efficient and the menu offered the usual Sunday Fayre alongside other traditional dishes. One thing to note was a lack of staters on offer. Oh, well, more space for puddings. Went for the roast lamb which came with all the trimmings including one of the best... More

Firstly what a fantastic looking place really looked good with the christmas decor staff were helpful. The majority of the food was good but the parmo was one of the worst i have ever tasted, no bechamel sauce and the chicken had been beaten to within a millimetre of its life. For the price it was shocking this was returned... More

Visited today with family. Staff were attentive & helpful especially with my disabled mum who uses a wheelchair. Sunday lunch was one of the best I've had in a very long time, absolutely delicious. Great pub with a lovely ambience, helpful staff & superb food. Thoroughly recommend.

Had a lovely dinner today , mash and veg and gravy were lovely. We were disappointed in the lack of freshness of the meat , it seemed more microwaved than freshly sliced off a joint. Still would go back as meal was worth the drive.

A large expanse of a pub with friendly and attentive service Menu broad with large portions but sacrificing taste. Everything very well cooked but not memorable. Cheese board looked fantastic but contained tasteless, industrial cheeses, a missed opportunity with so much great local cheese. The bill was high for the quality and we won't return.

This place does the best Sunday dinner around. Their creamy leeks are unreal. They will also bring you out more veg if you want. Value for money. The older man behind the bar is very friendly and a little quirky in a good way.
